Long day today. Woke up early. Went to Kino's. Did yardwork down at the Long Island house. Got home very late. Was more tiring than it sounds. -_-; Zzzzzzzzzzzzz...More later.

Finally.

The last two weeks in short:

Graduation.

Old Computer won't start due to virus.

Get New Computer as Graduation gift.

Work.

Schtuff.

On another note...Baris Manco amuses me. For those not in the know, he's a Turkish singer. I just recieved his Live in Japan CD and some modern Turkish pop CDs from a friend of my mother's (Mom only likes the really old-fashioned music; though I enjoy it as well I've been curious to hear what the more modern stuff sounds like), 'tis fun. Half of it's in Turkish, half of it's in Japanese. Which means I can get the gist of most of the CD. Go me. More later.

University orientation was annoying, but the important part is that I got Stuff done. Got home late last night. Went to Eri-chan's house today and we watched three hours of Invader Zim and three hours of "Brother Dear Brother." 'Twas fun. To quote the immortal Gaz Membrane: "The rightful order has been restored."

When Tokyopop first started in the manga business I had little to no respect for them. Apparently, somebody over there must have realized that they were going to go under if something didn't change.

Our ship has arrived and I couldn't be more thankful.

No offense to anyone, but I was tired of Viz being the only decent NA manga game in town. They know their stuff, but it was frustrating that every time manga rights were bought and it wasn't by Viz...well you could assume the releas would be ruined. Not anymore, readers. Not anymore.

I only wish I know who it was who smacked heads over at Tokyopop. Or maybe they were all smacking heads together and sparks of intelligence resulted. Or maybe they listened to their readers. Everything I detested before has now been rectified:

* The artwork no longer looks as though it's a bad Xerox(tm) copy of the orginal

* Unflipped artwork

* When people speak in different manners it's carried through in translation (this is a big improvement!).

* Decent translations

* Explanation of cultural...erm things by the editor instead of "Americanizing" everything

And the price is so right. So kiddies, go buy from their 100% manga line today and you won't be sorry.

You know what? I'm not even mad they bought Wish anymore. And that's saying something!

Must go down to Kino's to get monthly manga magazine fix! And more tankoubans...

Would like:
Cyber Idol Mink 1&3
UruQ 1
Tokyo Mew Mew 2-5
Koucha Ouji 8-15

Ack! I need to wait for more than a few more paychecks. ^_^;; Annecem went down to Mitsuwa without me!

I think I've been juvenile enough for one night...

As I was romanizing/translating Tokyo Mew Mew manga late last night I suddenly realized something.

The aliens are not Kisshu, Pai, and Taruto.

They're Quiche, Pie, and Tart.

*smacks forehead* And it only took me three months to realize it.

-_-;; Damn word play. Didn't anyone else realize this one yet, or am I the last one?

Found some of my missing research notes.

There was much rejoicing.

A girl has the right to be hysterical once in a blue moon, especially when there are big-ass beetle(s) in the computer room and [arrogant] members of the family refuse to help kill it/them and instead choose to slam doors in your face. Am greatly irritated.

This has been a very long week. One I'm glad is over.

*whimpers* I have a math examination bright and early at seven thirty tomorrow morning. *head in hands* I have not studied nearly enough. I need all the good luck I can get.

Recently my life has turned into something resembling a soap opera. It's very draining to say the least. I think I'll go to a corner and over-analyze the situation(s) at hand.

Ceylon's Friday:

Customer: Look at these marks! They're positively disgusting! I'd be emabarassed to buy this for my daughter

Ceylon: -_-;; *thinking* You couldn't even see them until I pointed them out to you, they're practically invisible...

And then...

Customer: Here! I have exactly four dollars eighty-seven cents in nickel and pennies.

Ceylon: O.o;; Um...

And the classic...

Out-of-State Customer: You rang it wrong! Sales tax is only 3%!

Ceylon: It's 7.25%.

And we can't forget...

Customer: What do you mean, the gift boxes aren't free?!

Ceylon: Exactly what that means, they're not free.

We're a clearence outlet store, if they want "retail" service they should shop at retail stores.

Customer service, 'tis hard. Can I be the stock kid instead?

No matter what anyone says, a girl(or boy for that matter!) can never have too much china. Dinnerware can be both pretty and practical, the best of both worlds!

Okay, okay. So maybe working in a china shoppe is lightening my wallet just a wee bit. Maybe it's a good thing that they don't produce as many nice patterns as they used to, it leaves me money to buy manga. *trots off to finish school project and ogle new china patterns online*

Have finished watching all of Trigun.

Very, very sad.

I find it to be extremely human in its themes and portrayal of emotion. Which made it more sad than any anime series I have seen to date. Putting that all aside...

The Last Volumes of Trigun

Knives. You bitch.

Legato was interesting. I didn't like him, but I didn't hate him either. Knives seemed like the kind of bully who would put kittens in trash compactors if it made sense to him. Legato was a pawn in over his head.

Wolfwood was one of the, if not the coolest character on the show. *cries some more*

I think that both WolfwoodxMillie and WolfwoodxVash are plausible, in character, and damn cute. VashxMeryl seems onesided (on Meryl's part) and most likely dysfunctional in the long run. KnivesxVash seems scarily 'canon', but would be abusive as all hell. But my question is...

Where the hell are people getting signs of MidvalleyxWolfwood?

Same layout, new colors. Losing my research notes put me nearly a week behind schedule. -_-;; Such is the life.

Watched Episodes 22 & 23 of Trigun today. 'Twas very sad. ;_; Didn't help that I was already depressed to begin with. Several Kleenexes(tm) later I pulled myself together to start outlining my new research notes. Am having so much fun that I may do a comprehensive X/1999 page or an *gasp* Utena page to boot. Well, after I get my current project done. I will start what I finish.

I'm not a Panashi-kun. Really I'm not.

Oh, and good luck to you on the Skittles(tm) game.

Which Classic Book Are You?
Book: Lady Murasaki Shikibu's The Tale of Genji.
Synopsis: Widely acknowledged as the world's first novel, this astonishingly lovely book was written by a court lady in Heian Japan and offers a window into that formal, mannered world. Genji, a man of passionate impulses and a lover of beauty, is the favorite son of the Emperor, though his position at court is not entirely stable. He follows his wayward longings through moonlight-soaked gardens and jeweled pavilions, with mysterious women such as the Lady of the Orange Blossoms, the Akashi lady, and his own father's Empress.
Excerpt: Next day Genji wrote a note to Tamakatsura in which he said: 'How did you get on yesterday? Were you able to see the procession properly? I am sure that, if you were, you now take a very different view about my recent proposal...' She was at first amused by the notion that a fleeting glimpse through the window of a palanquin could have altered her decision about serving at the Palace. But after a moment's reflection she realized that this was precisely what had happened. How clever he always was at guessing what went on in other people's heads!

And to think I just started reading Genji...Pretty neat.

Riddle me this. Why is it that when one neighbor mows his/her lawn, everyone else gets the bright idea to do so? So instead of waiting twenty minutes for one person to mow their lawn, it's a 2-3 hour affair...such is life in the suburbs...and I still have a cake to bake for tomorrow. ^^;;

Just got the Mahou Tsukai Tai shoujo manga in the mail today. Whoa. The OVA is nothing like the original manga. Not that that's a bad thing. It's just very strange. The pacing is very different, and the tone more serious. The character designs(and personalities!)...it's a mixed bag.

Takeo: less nerdy, more thoughtful, tends not to freak out quite so much.
Abaratsubo: a lot thinner...almost anorexic looking at times, tends to be more agressive in his wooing of Takeo.
Sae: cries and blushes a lot, not as spirited as the anime version.
Nanako: not that much different, only her hairstyle is terrible, really.
Akane: longer hair, not as pretty or coquettish as her anime counterpart.
Conclusion: The manga is nifty, but I really miss Spunky!Sae.

Listening to: For Real [Saiyuki OP1]

*looks at looo~ng list of Saiyuki Cds at cdjapan* They're doing this just to empty the wallets of fangirls the world over. And rather well I might add.

Listening to:The Rage Beat

This layout is going to go pretty quick. I'll probably make the nice, spiffy one this weekend. That is if I'm not finishing up the last two volumes of Trigun. Good ol' RadicalDreamer lent me the series, thereby making him a minor deity of sorts. Hopefully, Mel-jyou will be free Saturday for us to continue working on cosplay outfits. The work load just never ends...~_^;;

Oh, just finished reading "Fifth Quarter" by Tanya Huff. Nifty book, but Bannon was far too into himself...on so many levels. Vree had issues. I also finished "Blood Price" by the same author. My opinion: Not bad, but "Blood Trail" was far more enjoyable.
