Buffy Season Premiere!

Huzzah! Huzzah! Not bad at all....

Anyway, in other news: Last week was the week from hell as I attempted to survive working 40 hours a week while attending classes. Needless to say, my entire life is behind schedule right now. Never, ever work in food service. I have learned my lesson well.

But I've quit the grease job from hell and am now slowly moving to catch up... I have some manga translations to post, but I'm waiting to spell-check them when I get a chance.

I got the worst sunburn I've had in years on Saturday when I was out on the cape all day collecting sand samples and GPR data for my sedimentology class. German has been eating up all of my free time as well (grr).

Ah! And my intamural soccer team (I'm captain! Hah! Hah!) lost the game last night. Which makes us 1-1 now....

Now I'm trying to read for my art history class, although really, all you need to do is look at the pictures, right? ;)

Then I get to type up some lab results in excel, read some minerology shit, and then get started on German.

I have no life... But now you all know why I haven't been updating!

Axis of Evil

OK, it's late... but also hysterical:

SNL Transcripts

A Message From the President of the United States

Announcer: The following is an address by the President of the United States.

President George W. Bush: Good evening, America. I'm very happy to be back in this country, after my very successful trip in the Pacific Rim. I'm heartened to hear that, for the most part, the people of this country show strong support for my agenda. However, lately, there are some who are beginning to criticize this administration. Maybe these people don't understand - America is presently at war. Not just a war on terrorism; but we are engaged in a deadly stand-off with an Axis of Evil. You know who I'm talking about - Iran, Iraq, and one of the Koreas.

But my Axis of Evil doesn't seem to interest the people out there. Some people just want to talk about the economy, and budgets, and Enron. I bet most of you out there don't even understand Enron. I sure as heck don't! It hurts my head to think about it. So, from now on, Enron will be part of my Axis of Evil. I don't want to hear anything else about Enron, unless our military has pounded it into submission. So, look out, Enron - you're now part of the

So is the Economy. I don't like the way this economy is acting; not very American, it's evil! The economy is now a part of my Axis of Evil.

Also, I don't like Sen. Tom Daschle. You know why? He's very critical. You know where that leads him? You got it. He's now part of the Axis of Evil.

So, quick recap - that's Iran, Iraq, Enron, the Economy, and Daschle, and one of those Koreas. They all form a terrible Axis of Evil, standing in the way of all that we as Americans value.

And don't forget France. The French don't like me saying "Axis of Evil", so guess what? They're now a part of the very same Axis of Evil that they don't like me saying. How do you like them apples, France? Next time, you keep your mouth shut. You mess with Texas, and it's straight to the Axis of Evil, got it?

Germany, Italy, Japan - they were the original Axis of Evil. Maybe they thought I would forget, but I didn't. They're back in!

Here's one you probably didn't expect - Dick Cheney. Now, he's up to something, and I don't like it! He's never around. If I'm in the White House, he's not. If I'm on a plane, no where in sight. He's very sneaky; not to mention, scary. I'm putting him in the Axis of Evil - for now.

Evil Knievel's going in the Axis of Evil - but that's a no-brainer. But Dr. Evil? No; he makes me laugh, so he's out.

So, you see, America? There's nothing to fear. Everything's fine. You go out and buy your new cars, fly on airplanes, and invest in K-Mart. Don't listen to what the economists say. Why? Because they like math, and math is very much a part of the Axid of Evil.

And you know what else is part of the Axis of Evil? "Live, from New York, it's Saturday Night!"

Also, a new cool anime: Hikaru no Go.

Full Moon o Sagashite...

You're Takuto! Takuto is one of the two Gods of Death-sans. He works together with Meroko, You are Takuto and often helps Mistuki. They work for their boss (not too much information has been revealed on him) and are supposed to help people who are about to die. For some odd reason, Mistuki can see him! @_@ He's somewhat adventurous, and breaks the rules for Mitsuki, which angers Meroko. He's really caring and loving!
For more information on Takuto and other Full Moon wo Sagashite characters, visit Koneko's Full Moon site, Matter of Time!

ARGH!

Not to insult any German speakers, but this language is insane! I've had two classes, and I already feel like crying. >:( I want my Japanese back! Nihongo ga hoshiin da!

The way to a man's heart is through the fourth and fifth ribs.

I have several more pages of Seifuku no Koibito scanlated. I have yet to reach a point where I feel like I can break off to post it though. Something about having a room-mate slows down the shounen-ai manga scanlation process....

I've managed to write one sentence in the next chapter of Unwelcome Guests. I can see this is going to take some serious effort....

Seniors Again!

Back at Boston U, for the last year. Br... It's chilly here this week. I'm trying to help a friend with a mac to get IRC usage. NOT an easy thing, since I haven't used mine in a long time....

So cute!

Doraemon is just so cute! I don't know if I'll ever get around to a version 2...

Sleep Is Overrated...

I've been avoiding the computer due to wrist pain. But then I figured, what the hell, I've already ruined my eyes for life reading constantly when I was a kid. Why not the wrists too?

I was reading Roman Holiday by Anna the other week. My fascination with outstanding Harry Potter fanfiction is going strong. I was very excited about this one; she even had me feeling sympathy for and *liking* Snape. I thought to myself "I have to get Shannon to read this!" Then I stopped dead. Shannon read a bit of the (in)famous Draco Dormiens, but never finished it. She appreciated the good grammer and writing style, but she couldn't deal with a Draco so radically different from the one described in the original books. No matter the long and convoluted journey that got him there. And in Roman Holiday it only takes one chapter.

Now, you have to understand that the way Anna set up this fic is rather brilliant. She takes three chapters, one for each of her main characters, and brings you from point A (the book version) to point B (her version) very nicely. But what was so believable to me would have Shannon shaking her head. So I've decided that 2/3rds of the OOC vs. IC argument stems from what we are prepared to believe. I've read so many fanfics with Redeemed!Draco, and like the character so well, that I'll swallow just about any well-written story on the subject.

Needless to say, the second movie is going to be quite a shock to my system.

Laugh for god's sake!

Two amusing things. One is this website that I found through Lyn's livejournal http://grusha.net/snape/index.htm. The other is the birthday card my family gave me.

The punchline is: "...Although that's certainly something to aim for."

Too much caffeine

Some boys just should not be given caffeine. Taka was one of them. Good lord, that boy was up at 6am to go jogging, followed by hours of basketball, skating, etc. He made me tired just watching him. I hope he wasn't bored with my family. ^^;

Well, I'm 21. Don't know what difference it makes in the grand scheme of things. I could already vote and drive. The drinking age in Japan is 20, and in Belize is non-existent, so it's not like I was hopping up and down to go out and get drunk. I did have a nice time though. We went out to Jillians and played pool and drank Guiness. Good Irish beer.

The loot from my family was:
2 Cary Grant films (The Philadelphia Story & Indiscreet).
2 pillows sewn by my youngest brother.
A gold anklet
A crossword puzzle book (gag)
A home-made birthday cake and the following Ode to Cake from my other brother:

Ode to Cake
(And Jen's Birthday)

I the impoverished high school student that I am baked for you a birthday cake, not a ham.
The ingredients are mostly fruit, making this cake something to salute. But then again it's mostly sugar and, "oh" I can't think of something that rhymes with sugar.
The cake was frosted by Taca, which I probably misspelled by a lota, and so this weird rhyme ends this fermata.
So for your birthday I have baked a cake and I certainly hope it doesn't taste like a mistake.

ROFL!

To those curious souls: it was delicious!

I hate working

Don't we all....

I've finally finished paying off my credit card debt from my two trips last spring. Huzzah! Now I just hope I have enough for textbooks in the fall....

I've also finished hiding all of my Bxboy manga, djs, and my Ozaki Minami poster in anticipation of Taka's visit. >.<

Big Lights?

All my friends are sick of hearing me complain about our lack of bathroom.... But it's disconcerting seeing pipes sticking out from holes in your wall and staring at plywood instead of tiles.

I'm leaving at some ungodly hour Monday morning for NYC. The last family hurrah, I suppose. Then my friend Taka is visiting from Japan for a week once we get back. So I'll probably be AWOL for awhile.

Dancing Bathtubs-- Oh My!

You wouldn't think that a bathroom renovation would disrupt your computer use, but there it is. I haven't been able to use my computer all week. Eventually I'll be connected to the net again and able to update. In the meantime I'm taking advantage of the disgustingly hot weather. Yay, swimming in 85 degree water!

Hmmm...

Nothing much to say. I survived another weekend of working festivals. I've gained a callus from scooping so much ice cream. My great accomplishment for the summer.

The heat is making me rather lethargic; I can see I won't be getting much done today....

Wednesday, July 17, 2002 : 11:25 p.m.
"Well. Don't tell me where we're going. Surprise me. (Pause). You know, I left some friends back there in the Oak Bar. They're going to think I'm awfully rude. I mean, oh, couldn't we stop off at a corner drugstore for a moment so that I could explain I'm being, uh, kidnapped? Well, That is what's happening isn't it?"

I'm having a relapse in my love for North By Northwest. One of the best Hitchcock's ever made, I think. Certainly one of the most popular. The University of Illinois has an interesting Webstudy of the film.

In other news, I'm worried about my best friend. She tends to keep herself to herself, but she told me she went in to get a catscan yesterday for stomach pain. Something about a cyst, maybe. I hope she not under-playing it. I hope it's nothing serious. God, she's my best friend!
