I don't know how I am gonna make it through today... only a few hours until blissful freedom.... but before that I have the stress of giving presents to the higher -ups and my co-workers...sigh.

Christine got me a Bebop wall scroll ! Joy!!! It's one that I do not have either ! It will go in my room (AKA Faye Valentine's Den o' 2D Babe-ness). But C didn't gimme a card !!! That's all I wanted !!! A friggin' heartfelt card !!! *SOBS*

*UPDATE--- Christine opened her present early... she loved it! So I guess I'm getting a card... And I quote "a card ye shall have so good you are INUYASHA!!" ...so... she's a little Yoda-esque...cute!

Not much happened yesterday... pretty much a blur. Shopping, wrapping. For people I don't particularly love...but my Asian traditional ways compel me !!!

Can't wait to go hoooooOOOOOoooome.

Gotta give Mariela her gift today too...hehehehheeee...I am the master of great presents! Too bad you don't get one!

One other thing. One of my old students from NYU wants a letter of recommendation for grad school. Man, does that make me feel old. I should really think about getting another teaching position at a Uni. I miss being called "Professor Chang",,,heheheheh snotty sounding, eh? Oh, well...only like 3 kids called me that anyways...and after awhile it got weird. Just call me Abe!

After a much deserved break, I watched Princess Diaries (hey... critical darling) ...and let me tell you, I LOVED this movie. It was cheesy and cornball in spots...and of course loads of cliches... but Anne Hathaway (heheheh Shakespeare's wife ! ok...Lit nerd reference...) was absolutely charming, naturally funny, and gorgeous. Highly recommended. Go buy it.

I've realized...I've only bought Christmas presents for the co-workers and for the kids. So... everyone else... sorry !!! You ain't even getting a lump of coal! Well, I'll see how I feel on Friday...maybe I can sneak in a few gifts or something. Sigh...don't get me anything...I can''t deal right now. Just get me a nice birthday present... (psssst...look to list on left... *nudge, nudge wink wink*)

yup... got me some snazzy new glasses that cost me 200 bucks. A good estimate yesterday, ne ? It was really quick... the whole process took less than an hour. YAY! The funny thing was... this eyewear place... it was a partnership between Chinese and Korean people... it's a small chain in Flushing and other places. When I went in to pick frames and get the stuff done the Chinese guy thought I was Korean and the Korean lady wasn't sure if I was Chinese or Korean...so we all ended up speaking English and then halfway through I started speaking in both. It was funny! I am the Asian Invader ! I should have said I was Japanese... or Filipino! I think I could pass....

Justin was cracking me up with his "Solomon Grundy wants PANTS too!" thing he kept doing...some Cartoon Network ad...cute!

Grandma's b-day.!Called Canada.... rain! Um...watched Gasaraki and did some light weight lifting. Didn't sleep very well. :(

OH...C update... she made her brother buy her the rest of the Inu Yasha TPBs for Christmas ! HA !!! CUTIE ! Well, she did chip in to get him PS2 with her mom... (which I bet she got for her bro so he she can play FFX!) Her descent into geekdom continues! I love it.

I can't wait for this week to be over.

I'll archive this stuff on Friday. It's getting quite unwieldy.

OOOOH...more stuff... Sunny...one of C's friends that I don;t know all too well...but do know enough got me a Christmas present...sweet, right? BUT it was a 1001 Sex Secrets Calender !! ARRRGH !!! What kind of present is that ??? For Christmas too ?!?!? I'm so embarassed. But the funny thing was...C was like " What is this word...it sounds Italian... classic i-o ending..." Monday morning, 7:45...and my glasses finally snap. They've been acting all wonky lately, like the hinge was messed up. ...Great. So, I frantically stick my fingers in my eyes and get my dang contacts in... I hate wearing contacts. They make me dizzy and I can feel them in there. (I have scars under my eyelids from allergies, so says the opthamologist.) In any case, this means I have to pony up some extra dough...THAT I DO NOT HAVE...to get frames, at least. SIGH... why me.

but some woman did leave an umbrella on the train... so... I got a free umbrella today!...bah.

Not much happened yesterday. Did some shopping to get stuff for people in the company...and that's a bout it. Oh, got Korean food from the new expanded Assi/Korean Town Plaza. WOOOT. Mak Kim Chi for me. And then I passed out for like 2 hours and missed church. boooo. :(

well...needless to say. I ended up going home for dinner and skipped out on Steve's B-day bash. I was just too wiped from a long week at work. I was asleep by midnight! sorry, steve! I'm sure you had enough fun with the girls..didn't even notice I wasn't there!

Y called and said she might stop by Sunday. Talked to Eunice, Lorin,Karen, and Doris...and Shelb. Even e-mailed Sami! Dang...wonder what that girl has been up to.Been more social lately, which is good. I'm not a total misanthrope!

The big news Friday night was the fact that C has finally, finally gone over to the Dark Side... to otakudom. She had the "what the heck have I gotten into" look...you know the one. I took her to Jim Hanley's after work and led her to the Inu-Yasha TPB aisle. Her eyes glazed over...and she bought vols 3, 4 ( I bought her one before, she bought 2 the other day, and I took pity/responsibilty on/for her and ended up buying her vol. 5) She was all flustered and was like "Only Inu-Yasha and Kenshin stuff!" yeah...sure. What a cutie. I got her a great Christmas present. I wuv her to no end! She is my sunshine! My precioussssss pet! BWAHAHAHAHHAH !!! Seriously, she'll be going to anime cons before you know it. I'VE CREATED A MONSTER !!!! ^_^

Saturday was Justin day. My pops drove us to run some errands. Ended up getting a bunch of Christmas presents for the kids and got Justin a bunch of Playstation games (for me too! heee heee..) We had dinner at Wendy's. Just my little bro, our bag o' goodies, and me. I think he's getting his first zit! My baby!!! NOOOOooooOOOOOO.

Ran into Jen Chung in Flushing! I was just thinking the other day how I was never going to be able to get in touch with her again. But there she was. Cute as ever and now...and Assistat D.A.!!! Better not mess with the law...eeep.

Someone is frustrating me. UGH. Let's just say...no common sense, no street smarts, been living in a bubble... ARRRGH!!! Ok, let's be nice. What would Jesus do? What would Jesus say? "Chill out, dude! Don;t be a mean a$$ mutha!!!"... my Jesus is a cool cat. We chat like dat, yo.

Romana called too. She's back from Cali. She saw the baby-talker Frank...eeeew. Yucko. She might come up from Philly for New Year's. She was upset that C was in first place and she had dropped to a measly 4th. HAHAHAHHA. She never had a chance! She saw the baby-talker...automatic deduction. In any case, she could only aim for 2nd place. (This only makes sense to me and the Philly gals...sigh.)

LUCKY! I finally got the U2 DVD set I've been waiting for...only 15 bucks ! I got a raincheck for it...and I think they gave it to me 5 bucks less than Best Buy was supposed to. In any case... I skipped around a bit and watched it... It was amazing...I really, really want to see U2 again. I really regret not getting tickets this year. :( Bono makes me want to get my church on! He offered up a prayer before "where the streets have no name" and thanked God for salvation and blessings... man, U2 is deep. I had one of Eric's old Al Capones I found...and some chilled (wrong ...I know...) red wine. The best part I saw was "With or Without You"...Bono snagged some Asian college girl from the audience...and held her... while lying on the stage...and just sang. He kissed her and she practically passed out... heheheh. I wish I could be that slick.

Eric got a promotion! Don't know the details yet...but it's a move up and will help him in what he wants to do... GANBARE! GANBATTE ! GOGOGO!!!!

Justin was sick this morning. He was like "Don't kiss me!!" I always get sick when he gets sick. Snot nosed kids!!! I'm dreading the day when he's too old for me to hug his big round belly and kiss him anymore. MY baby!!! He's growing up... sniff.

Supposed to go to Steve's b-day party today...but I'm so exhausted...I just want to go home and sleep. And it's raining. Yucko.

hehheheh... Eunice was reading the blog and was all upset about my little adventure at XANDO with Sapphy. She was like " I went to XANDO with you first!!!" Actually, I went to the XANDO in DC before then... and then she went on to say "You didn't ge the S'mores when we went!!" Um... we were too full!!! We had the pizzza! And we were sitting upstairs... I remember it all!

But the first time I smoked a hookah (do a Google search...it's not a "bad thing" !) pipe was with her! So technically I lost my "hookah virginity" with Eunice... HAHAHHAHAH sounds so dirty!!!!

I love me some Eunice, sumthin' fierce! But she has the ROBot now...so... :( I miss her. Out on Long Island... so close ...yet so far. dangnab "reverse commute"!!!

Well...we can still have our bastard children and name them fancy -pants names like "Nicolette" (Nicorette!!! heheee with FOB accent!) and "Annika"...

another long day at work with my highlights being... nothing really besides the ongoing saga with C. love/hate/love/hate...yadda yadda.

fast forward to the end of Weds. and me at Midtwon Comics getting my weekly fix. I picked up the 3 TPBs of VGAi...and let me say...I'm almost done with all three at 9:30 on Thursday morning. The manga is sooooo much better than the OVAs....and you know how much I love those !!! In any case... I wish I had someone cheering me on, who loved me and counted "my saving graces" and good points. Which I have plenty—believe you, me! In any case... GANBARE ! GANBATTE!!! GOGOGO!!!!

And then.... I picked up Sapphy (Mariela) from her work place... (she's so cute! She even had on a little lipstick! Hey, I notice these things!) hit Suncoast where she picked up CCS5...and we headed to Kum Gang San for some kal bi and pan chan. I think she liked it! I practiced my bastardized Korean... and apparently I was pretty good! The wait staff kept saying stuff to me that was beyond my grasp...anyways....It was a lovely dinner. We talked Buffy,"anime insider" gossip, and family. I'm fairly convinced that Gareth does exist and is no longer just a sock puppet. He's on guard duty. Protects the anime.

Which brings us to XANDO and my first time... it was sticky, messy, and sweet. Can you believe, that after 25 years....I've never...NEVER had...S'MORES??? It was pretty good ! But Mariela is the queen of roasting marshmallows...mine just ignited...while she had such patience and skill and a saavy that only comes with experience! Rotate! Gotta rotate! *sigh... Mariela is sooooo the sempai. ARIGATO GOZAIMASU!

Got home late...showered... slept. Yippeeee...

Still no Bebop box... :(

Just got some bad news that one of my old teachers passed away. Shahid actually was going through treatment for a brain tumor when I was at NYU in 2000.

He passed away this past Saturday.

My editor here is good friends with Shahid's sister. It's so sad. He was so much fun and really well read. We are actually going to print one of his poems in our book. He will be missed.

He gave me a copy of one of his books. I need to go home and read what he wrote me. Wow....pray for him.

I got 2 DVDs yesterday and didn't pay a single cent! HMM v3 and JPIII are mine through Suncoast coupons. YAY! But I realized...I should probably BUY on triple points days and REDEEM on non-points days...hmmmm.

I did manage to bonk my head on some Simpsons display thing at Suncoast. D'OH! Left a mark... :(

Had lunch with Cat yesterday. She's really cool. We caught up and made fun of people from H.S. hhheheheheh. She dyed her hair jet black! WHOAH! And she wants to move out to LA. We have the same weird taste in music--New Order, Ozzy, Britney, ...how odd.

Dinner with Mariela tonight? Possibly K-Town? Speaking of which...ran into LINUS in K-Town yesterday! He just got back from teaching English in China. A Korean kid teaching English in China...hmmm... unique ! I love the guy! Should e-mail him soon.

Carpal tunnel's has subsided... less typing today. But not less work. :(

I'm coming to accept the fact that I am incapable of love. Ok...I'm being melodramatic. I think I have a deep longing for the romantic ideal, but I have a more profound fear of commitment.... therefore I sabotage everything in a million different ways and end up at the same point. Me, alone, with my geeky leanings and braniac ways. :( I need love!!!! But why won't I just go for it???

On the topic, increased my workout... light weights and stuff...kinda sore... try to do some cardio tonight.

FInished AMG movie...wow... one of the top DVDS OF THE YEAR !!! if not THE best anime disc ... in terms of content, packaging, the mini-goddess bonus, man... I was thoroughly saasssssified !

Triple points days! Gonna pick up HMM v.3, maybe NieA_7 v.3, and JPIII. Use my certificates... save money.

Eric finally took off yesterday for Boston... he got a mini-vacation. He'll be back in 2 weeks. I can't believe my cousin Chris (Opher, as he will be forever called) let him borrow the PS2 ! Eric is good at mooching-- "Hey, I bought the pizza...gimme/let me borrow yadda yadda..." Good negotiation tactics. : /

Visited Christine's church...SMALL. C is so cute when she plays the keyboards... she tilts her head and sings and kicks her feet. She was presiding also...so when she was reciting the Apostle's Creed... her fake British accent came out ! LOL !!!! I think I was the only person that noticed! I ragged on her about it afterwards. She drove me to Forest Hills in her new Volvo.

The new pastor there is only 29... he really, REALLY seemed like he wanted me to come back. I don't know if I can deal with going to another Korean church though...OK... but that might be C overkill since I see her everyday already. I don't think I want to see anyone that much, unless I'm married to them. Yeeesh.

Justin won third place at his Karate tournament !!! BIG trophy !!! I'm so proud! I had no idea he would do so well! I got him Pokemon DVD as a reward... hehehehh.

FInished Video Girl Ai and Rush Hour 2... and worked out. Cleaned up my "mini-studio"...played some guitar. I'm psycehd for my vacation...I MUST record something. Man... I'm sleepy today.

well...last night the office party. I stayed for about an hour and had 3 drinks in about 45 mins. and I was woooozy. WHAT HAPPENED ?!?!? I used to be able to go a lot more than a gin and toic, a Tom Collins, and a Corona! Maybe it was because it was at the end of the day on an empty stomach...and in front of my employers.

anyhoooooo. went to the Whitney with Y and was pretentiously making fun of the art by commenting on how pretentious it was! How positively postmodern of me! Anyways... we ended up going downtown and had beef tartare at a Thai restaurant. (It was her idea...) and we had a heart-to-heart. She got back together with her ex...which everyone despises (including me! he's a total ass.)...but she can't seem to let go of. To make a long story short, I offer her my unconditional love and friendship. And apparently...I'm the only friend she really has left in NY. I just hope she makes some sense of all this crap. Pray for her...and her reckless driving! WHOOO...she got a pimped out Caddy! :)

I got home around midnight and watched Video Girl Ai... man...I love this series! I gotta go track down all the Animerica or TPB of it... it's sad and funny and dirty but really innocent at the same time. Man, I need to get me a girlfriend soon. :(

And today... did some light Christmas shopping and finally got my haircut! I think I'm much cuter with shorter hair. But it's still kinda long...my barber said that my hair grows in a weird direction and I should keep it long so it doesn't stick up allove the place... Basically, I'm stuck with this hairstyle forever.

I'm poor again. :( I need to not buy anything anymore and save up for Christmas!

not much to talk about...been a tiring week. glad it's coming to a close. I'm exhausted.

we have our holiday office party tonight. I'm dreading it. I think I will only pop in for 30 mins. or so... then I'm off to the Whitney.

well...more about the Whitney. Apparently there is some free video exhibit tonight. Yvette (whom I have not seen since pre 9/11) gave me a ring last night and wants to head over. Good grief...it's been months. We always have these weird lulls in our "relationship" ...hot and cold. Ugh...too much to go into here. It's complicated.

hope I can get some of this crap done and resolved today. arrrrgh. 2 more weeks and I am on vacation. wooooot!

what a weird day. Eric ended up going with Jack, Shelb, other folks to the funeral. Please pray for Uwang and his family.

I was exhausted from doing this Handbook of Lit terms stuff at work and then had to do some research for the Contemporary Lit section. I'm getting smarter by doing all this research.,...but at the expense of melting my brain cells. Dang, I'm just waiting for someone to ask me about WWII and what "apostrophizing" means.

BRITNEY! Ran into Angie at the Mall right before! She looks the same. Took Justin to the concert...Nance and Amy were three sections away...we all had pretty darn good seats. O-Town sucks beyond suckage. That "All or Nothing at All" song was the only decent one... even though the song rhymes the word "all" with..."all." How lame is that? And the melody...rip-off. In any case, O-Town suck.

Britney on the other hand was very, very entertaining. Dang...diverse crowd. The show was pretty much the same as the HBO special... some weird "magic/dream themed" moments that were pretty freaky. Best was the medley of old songs, the ol skool jam "anticipating" and the "this is my Flashdance-meets-cowgirl-in-da-strip-club-shower" remix of "Baby...one more time"... nice.

Read DK2 on the way home...it rocks. Can't wait for the next 80 page issue! Justin is cutting school today. He didn't sleep very well last night.

Back to work. Gonna listen to something besides Britney. Think I need some heavy shiznat....TOOL it is. Carry on.

more bad news! Jenny D. e-mailed me... her grandfather passed away this weekend! She actually said that he was really ill last time I heard from her. I need to hug her. :(

My co-worker is so cute. She's turning into a good friend. I wuv her. She beats me up everyday. Though, she's been buying coffee a lot lately. And she has like 10 of my Kenshin DVDs! ARRRRGH !!! Did I mention I wuv her?**EDIT** She said te FUNNIEST thing to me today!! "Bitch, open the door!" I can't believe she said that !!! WOW. LOVELY.

Light stuff.... um...got Rush Hour 2 a whole week early...heheheh retailers that break street date! BWAHAHAHHAHA... and DK2 is in my grubby hands! WOOOT! The line at Midtown (made it out there...) was especially long...everyone had a copy of DK2 ... at least one. Man...it's been like a decade or more in the making??? I was in junior high when the first one came out ! eeep.

Doris called last night. She wants to have dinner ...I feel bad...I haven't seen her in ages. punk. we're practically family...so I guess it's ok. I miss her . :( And yet.... she is smello yello fello!!!!! ARRRRGH!

Speaking of family, Eric came home last night. He may spend the rest of the week here. I guess his bosses are pretty cool with it. He's going to go with Jack, Shelb...hope Uwang is ok. Keep praying for him and his.

Britney concert tonight! Justin seems very excited. Me, I'm just tired... "working for the weekend" ....indeed.

Ok... nearly 85% healthy now. Yesterday was a heavy day. The whole Israel/Palestine thing has got me worried and my fear of working in NYC is starting to well up again. I mean, really...what's next? Is NYC off the hook now and the rest of the country going to be targeted? I dunno what this all means. Ugh.

Uwang's dad passed away last night. Shall be praying for him and their family. I may not have the best relationship with my father...but he's still around and that means things can get better.

Like I said, heavy day.

Light stuff, um... got the AMG movie! Looks great! Only got to watch the first 30 mins. though...need to finish it soon. Dub is really good... "all stars" if you can call it that. But where is Wendee Lee? I'm in love with her voice.... sigh.

Trying to save money for Christmas presents... but it's Tuesday! SO... off to Best Buy with me.

Can it be? Am I actually getting better? The hacking cough has finally subsided...at least for now. I've been going to sleep a lot earlier than normal but I still feel worn out. Stress at work, I guess.

and it's actually December! 17 more days and I can take my glorious vacation and do not much of anything besides write and record. woooooot!

looks like I'm taking Justin (the baby bro) to the Britney concert and Nancy is taking her sis Amy. How did I even get into this mess? It's gonna be crazy. I don't even want to go... I would have much rather went to see Superchunk.

that reminds me... I should really start calling people back and getting out of my misanthropic mood. Why do I do this? Hole up and hide from people that actually want to spend time with me? What's the matter with me??? bah.

bleccch. another weekend and I'm stuck indoors. I stil feel pretty miserable and congested. hacking cough won't go away!

Cleaned up and rearranged my apartment again. Now, I'll have some space to record some music and that dang VA audition tape I've been meaning to do!

Watched Malena today. AMAZING movie. Monica Bellucci is just flat out gorgeous. The movie was one of the best I've seen all year. Same director that did Cinema Paradiso (loved that one too.)Malena was a war movie, a coming of age film, and all around emotionally satisfying. I laughed, I cried... damn you Miramax! I'm a foreign film geek again! Next up... The Road Home with Zhang Ziyi!

Also, finished the Saber Marionette J series... and let me say...It has become one of my favorites. It got very serious and emotional. I got all choked up. On a lighter note...those Saber Dolls are sexxxxxxxy. 2D girls, go figure. I just want to sleep and get healthy. . When that's gonna happen...I dunno. This coughing hurts. :(

I need a hug.

HAAAAAAACK! That's what I sound like most of the time. This cough is just getting bassier and heavier than normal. Ugh. In any case... My editor, "JT" is out sick again...I wish I had the luxury , but I've used all my sick days and I need to get PAID because the kiddies want presents.

Osmosis Jones was actually really good! I'm glad I got it! I was pissed at the Best Buy saleswoman when she said that the U2 DVD "came out awhile ago and it wasn't in the computer..so I can't give you a raincheck." NICE. I happen to know that Best Buy had an exclusive deal to release it EARLY this past Tuesday and it doesn't officially street until 12/4 elsewhere. So don't tell me what I know and don't know! In any case she checked with the manager. I got a raincheck for $14.99 (which I suspect is wrong...but they better honor it!) Ok...end of rant.

DANGNAB Harry Potter books! I read the first 2 this week and started the 3rd this morning! Crap... after the 4th one I'm gonna have to wait. I should have never started.

Looks like I'll be sleeping all weekend... I just want to be healthy so I can attack that DDR pad! ...and go to church on Sunday. I haven't been in awhile..at least in NY :( God loves me though!

Back to work.

Ugh... I'm still sick and it's getting worse. It's definitely peaking...i hope the rest of the week is when I begin to recover.

Scary news. That anthrax letter sent to Chile...turns out it could have originated from our offices in Orlando. Harcourt... arrrrgh!!! hopefully we won't get any mail from them here in NYC.

Got proof pages of my poem/bio/interview last week. Showed them to my grandpa...he was very happy. I guess I should be excited too...but it won't hit me until the anthology comes out in 2003! The head of production said I was going to be famous! They may use it in other books or national editions... wow. It's a start!

My first entry ! Still getting the hang of pitas.com. I may have to ask Sapphy for some tips since she is the only one I know that has a blog on pitas. (does carp or Tempy?) In any case...

I'm sick. Getting sicker. I'm paranoid...but most likely it's just the flu.

I have a ton of work...this Lit Handbook/Glossary thing is a pain in me arse. Oh well... back to the drudgery.

What a happy first entry.
