DAY TWO !...*groan*
Wednesday, January 9, 2002 11:38 p.m.
arrrrrgh... still no internet. UGH!!!
WORK... yucky. Was supposed to have lunch with Jennie and C but Jennie got sick...never made it in. So..me and C again. Got comics...she's desperate for some Inu-Yasha. As her DVD player nears... she's making a list. Yes, it is too late.
oh yeah...more kicks and punches. Can you feel the love?
Research day...library trip. SUCCESS! and yet... back for more tomorrow?
Had beverages with Sapphy! She dished a little dirt... bwahahahahah but secrets still stay secrets. I guess I'll have to wait like everyone else to hear about what ADV (and dirty DLW) have coming up.
I'm tired. I need www at work :(
off to play with new AOD forums...

waaaaah...no Internet access at work!
Wednesday, January 9, 2002 12:14 a.m.
Seems like we've been attacked by some silly virus at wor..so no web access all day ! UGH! So this update is kinda late.
In any case, had a great time with Angela last night. She picked me up in her VW and we went to Forest Hills. Had some Cuban food ... paella and skirt steak. This rail thin girl can eat ! She's adorable, a good head on her shoulders, and fun. Did I mention she was adorable? She'll be back in NY in like 6 months. WOOOOT! The snow and ice made it a scary trip... when she dropped me off, she was sliping on the hill by my building...I had to push. Scary, since if the car slipped back...eep.
Called Elaine. I forgot she graduated a semester early! She's back in NY for good! YEAH!!! Maybe she'll go to Flickerstick concert with me...hmmm.
Called Mariela. Gareth picked up !!! WOW ! He exists! They were in Charleston...layover. But Sapphy is back in NYC! HA! DLW gets her for 4 days... the rest of the time...she's here. :P
WORK... arrrgh !!! What would I do without my C? She really is the sunshine of my life. Though she has been kicking me extra hard, and the "I hate you"s are more and more frequent, and she did actually punch me in da gut today...fine line between love and hate... I choose to stay on the "love" side, sheobviously is in "hate" bordertown. Man, I thought this kind of stuff was over with in 3rd grade. She loves me.
Got a bunch of Love Hina knick knacks and C got her first DVD! AKIRA ...used for 10 bucks! YEAH! I remembered seeing it when I got Now and Then, Here and There...good memory!
She's planning to get Kenshin an CCS and some other stuff. WOW, I have created a monster. I'm so sorry, my dear. A life of DVD slavery ahead of you!!!
Speaking of NTHT...wow. I watched the whole disc. I wasmesmerized. Didn't really likethe Tezuka like character design but the story, the mecha, the backgrounds were excellent. SO DARK. Man, kids...death, rape, slavery, war. DAICHI!!!??!?! ROUGH.
I don't think anyone is gonna get me a Skyworth for my b-day. Guess I'll have to get it myself. :(
Been recording.. "Reverie" is turning out pretty well. The harmonies are tighter and I think the lead guitarriff is really cool. Pondering if I should add keys. Overdub another lead vocal...and I have one track left... ACK.
OH! Ran into Jen Lee...I never remember her "married name" but she till goes by Jen lee... we should have lunch soon. And lunch wit Lis (Gary, my best friend's gfriend) soon. But no Internet at work makes Abe a dull boy (heheheheh Buffy/Shining reference...Sapphy...you catch that one!??!)
consider me...LOTR-ed
Monday, January 7, 2002 09:21 a.m.
a decent and productive weekend! Actually got some stuff done. FIrst off...LOTR. After all the hype and all my "less geeky" friends having seen it and raving...I managed to go with Shelb. Ended up seeing his dad too... Mr. Wong looked pretty good and happy since they got back from lovely Hawaii for their family reunion.
Shelb and I went over to Bay Terrace and got a matinee price for the first show! WOOOT! (Shelb actually got the tix and the snacks...I am his bitch.) The movie RAAAAWWWKED. WOW. that's all I can say about it. Great stuff...dang...Peter Jackson. ....he made Liv Tyler actually...not suck. Viggo was pretty slick and all the other characters worked well. Though I thought that Elijah Wood was kind of over-emoting through a lot of it.
Good stuff... too bad I don't really have the patience to read the books properly...ack. I'll try.
Went food shopping by me lonesome on Sunday. Thought I had to stock up for the supposed storm that we have not seen as yet. (Which may shut my big cry-hole tonight.) In any case... I kinda hurt my back a little with all the lifting and the hills... aaaaarrrhggh... but working out stretched me out. But no Redeemer this Sunday on account of the rain and my poor condition. But I did manage to record a bit... working on a version of "Reverie" (or maybe "Words You Say" is a better title?) In any case... I wrote the song like 4 years ago and I've finally been getting a good demo down. The vocals are a little flat...but I hope the overdubs will cover it up. The bass line sounds good and the lead guitar touches sound sweet. It's a step towards finally recording my VA demo. I'm including the song as omake on the tape! Man, I can do voices! Dangnabbit!!! I ama a trained actor/vocalist!
back to the grind... yucko. More later.
oooh oooh...this is too good to wait for tomorrow. At lunch today... poor C...still illin' like Bob Dylan... said something that will be the earmark...the beginning of the end...she said "From now on... I'm going to ask my friends to get me anime DVDs for my birthday..." OMG!!! I'm willing to bet... come July...she will be on her way to Otakon. BWAHAHHAHHAHAHAHAHHA. My pet...my precioussssssssss.
FURTHER PROOF. We were talking about VA stuff and what she could do...here's what she messaged me :
"NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
you think i have a stupid bimbo high-in-the-sky miaka voice?!?!?!?!
I DON'T THINK SO!
my voice is more suited for the asukas, the ryokos, and maybe the kaorus
maybe kagome too, but you haven't seen inuyasha yet..."
Man, if that doesn't sound like an animegeek...I don't know what does. She is kowaikawaiiiiiii!!!!
TGIF...first one of the year!
Friday, January 4, 2002 09:40 a.m.
More about last night... had a really, really easy time getting Flickerstick tix. YES ! This will be the third attempt at going to see them.
1. At Wetlands...last minute attempte. Bailed
2. At Irving Plaza on 9/11...we all know how that turned out.
3. At Irving Plaza on 1/16...barrign a blizzard or the flu...I will see Flickerstick!
Now...who to take? I hate dragging people to shows who don;t like the band...what a drag!
Got a bunch of DVDs yesterday...and I admit... temptation and curiosity got the best of me and I bought a bootleg To Heart DVD from Kim's Underground (they claim it's legit). I was just curious as to the quality of the boot...and I have to admit...they have a menu, the video looks pretty good... subs are off of course...but the audio. AYE...there's the rub. Audio is echo-y and weird... See... I prove to myself why boots suck and why legit stuff is always better. In any case, a lesson well learned. Curiosity satisfied. I'll stick with licensed stuff...thank you.
Got 2 anime calendars! Pioneer's Girls of Anime and a Trigun one... which I gave to C...because I am such a sweetie (and I'm her bitch)... but then I thought it wouldn't be a good idea to use the Girls of Anime (even though it's just cute...nothing ecchi really)calendar at work...so I'm back to using the 1001 Sex Secrets one I got from C's friend. WHOOO...much better.
IRC was interesting last night. My 30 mins of checking in and I get abused by...LISE?!?!? Sweet angelic, Alaskan...but really... yowzer. All because of a misunderstanding...Lise, you know "that's not what I meant"...it's all verbal diahrrea on #animedvd...and little colloquialisms get misinterpreted or just come across as wrong. I am truly sorry. Please don't bring out the whip. :(
Hanging out with Angela on Monday...but but...snow??? Ack... anyways... more later...
MORE !!! Ordered "Who Am I," "Wing Chun" and "Battle Royale" (R3...waiting for my Skyworth) ffrom hkflix. WOOT!!! rice, rice baby.
C's further descent into Otakudom.
She finally bought herself a DVD player... Progressive scan (for her future TV) Toshiba player. And now...she's contemplating buying all of Kenshin on DVD. BWAHAHHAHAHA no turning back !!! Before you know it...time for cosplay. Oh, yes....excellent.
Day two...groan.
Thursday, January 3, 2002 09:23 a.m.
Ok... so they've started checking our IDs at the door now. Good policy to have for the new year! BUT... there have been rumors that they started doing this because we got a bomb threat? Our little building ?!?!? What do we have here? YM, ..non-profits, a few consulting firms, and us. Books. Can you say "disgruntled"?
Silly me. Thinking it was a good idea to work out after 10 pm... stupid DDR and MTV Body Rock workout. Got so pumped up on adrenaline I couldn't sleep all nite. Actually had a dream about Otakon...screaming at Tempy and Sa-dono in my dream...hehehehh.
C just stopped by... looks like she won't be going to Otakon. "NOooooOOO ... if it was a city I wanted to go to...maybe...but Baltimore?!?" suckage. Who can I kidnap then ??? Sappphhhy...heeeeeelllp. (well, she's busy fending off DLW at ADV... I'll bother her later.)
Speaking of more IRC-ness...where has Riki been ??? IS she ok? partied out?
Flickerstick playing 1/16...I should get tix..ne, ne ??? But who to take ? arrrrrgh.
noononononoooo!!!
Wednesday, January 2, 2002 09:21 a.m.
OMG! I can't believe I'm updating my blog from HERE. Work... it's so odd...and yet, it feels like I never left. Thank goodness it's a short week.
Had a dream about C last night ! Odd... in any case... I remember beating the crap out of some guy named "andrew" in the dream. And that's about it. It was primarliy a dream about C...but all I remember is fist-in-face ! WOOOT! I am champion !!! RAAAAARRRGH!
So far...that's it for now... I'm back. I'll update more as the day progresses.
Ok... it's almost over... had a good day so far...been on the ball and cranking out a lot of stuff.
One of the Executive Editors came to tell me that one of the reviewers (they read the proof pages and give opinions before we do the actual run of books) mentioned that they liked my work ! WOOOOOO! Ok...It's a start.
Bought C lunch. She's hilarious and cute, since she's on cold medication. All trippy and off balance. It's gobs of fun to make fun of her! She had a stack of singles at the drug store...that she got rid of... but the cosmic irony of it all...I ended up with only 20's and had no change...soI ended up with her stack of singles! ARRGH!
BTW, we are going away for the long weekend ...together. SCANDAL! Actually, we're going to visit friends in Philly...wonder it it will actually go through. Should be fun. She's gonna drive... I'm her bitch.
Talked to Lynn on AIM today! I was actually thinking about her...she's enjoying the UK. Cheers, then!
Bah... more tomorrow...I got work to do.
it's over...back to work! 2002, it is!
Tuesday, January 1, 2002 11:39 p.m.
Well..that was quick. I can't believe it's back to the grind already. 2002 begins, and away to work I go.
The family was over again... my dad managed to get a WHOLE salmon...so we've been having sashimi all the time...ooof. I'm kinda sick of raw fish now. The kids are so friggin' loud. I wonder what they will sound like when their voices change.
Ok, kiddies. Wish me well...I gotta start getting up at 7:30 again. I can't wait until the weekend. ARRRRGH!
Happy new year. God bless, ya punks !
Happy New Year !!! aka ...one day left... back to the grind.
Tuesday, January 1, 2002 02:01 a.m.
another "quiet" new year. I bust out the new blender and start whirring away the mixed drink. I guess I drank more than I thought. I ended up taking a nap for about an hour... my poor aunts and uncle...all pink. Man, gimme some triple sec, midori, daquiri mix, and white wine...and I will show you how to get yer family trashed!
SO...we are all alive and well. Times Square did not go kabloooey. But I'm gonna be on my toes for awhile. Muthaf$ckin' terrorists piss me off!
I do pray for peace. I do! And I hope 2002 will get me revving to make things work.
of course...that means resolutions!
Ok...let's go for 3 now.
1.Finish the novel before I turn 27! Get it published by the time I am 30!
2. Seriously clean up my debt.
3. Get moving and stop being so picky with the girl situation.
sigh... that's it for now...the practical stuff...
Man, one more day and it's back to work. I do have to admit...I miss C. After seeing her everyday for abouit a year... 2 weeks is kinda long. Plus, I bet she's dying for the new Kenshin disc. She sounded kinda hyper when I called today. I guess that's good?
I called people to wish them a Happy New Year...but no one is picking up !!! ARRRRGH! In any case...I called. So there. Happy, happy. Toot, tooot.
HARDCORE KOREAN METAL !!!! ...and oh...happy new year.
Monday, December 31, 2001 02:41 p.m.
Well...got up late again...even though I tried to get up reasonably early...sigh...another one of those days. I guess I'm not gonna get anything really productive done. In any case...got to mentally prepare for the work week. It will be short. I hope.
Nancy came over and we finally exchanged presents. I gave her some Soprano stuf (that I wanted!) and she got me a mini-Britney calender and that Seo Tai Ji RED cd I wanted! It's all hardcore KORN-y metal... (if KORN were a Korean ban...hehheheh) down to the roaring vocals and the twingytwangy gutiar riffs. Dang...Tai Ji! He might not be very original but he's good at the "homage"...this CD RAAAAWWWKS !!!
New Year's...another one with the fam. Which I don't mind. I just want something quiet. Low stress. As long as Times Square doesn't blow up...I will be very happy.
Stay safe. Happy New Year! See ya in 2002!!!
The vay-k is coming to an end...
Sunday, December 30, 2001 10:28 p.m.
So...it's almost over. And what have I done esides clean up a little, hang out, watch TV and improve on my DDR skils? Not much.
Ok...my MOM got me some DVDs today from Best Buy. (She needed to pic up stuff for my Dad's College reunion thingeee raffle)WOOOT! guess she was feeling a little guilty for not getting me anythig for CHristmas...and for basically... stuff that my parents have been neglecting this past year. I appreciate it. DVDs are good anytime!
SKYWORTH! Man...I am not gonna get a Panasonic rp56 and get it all modded and crap. Skyworth is good enough for me. Available only at www.hivizone.com ...ahem...b-day in just about 30 days.
Speaking of which Skywise and Ardith have the same b-day...1/28....I'm on the 31st. We should have an International OTAKU B-day Fest. *drunken slur* "More fan service! It's my birtttttdaaaay!" :P
New Year's Eve should be relatively tame this year... staying at home with the family. Hope we don't get nuked. Knock on wood... that works.
375thSt. "Y" ?!?!?
Saturday, December 29, 2001 04:07 p.m.
Ok...the serious stuff first. That incident at 34th St. turned out to be a major accident in which 7 people died. Some old guy rammed and plowed his way through one of the busiest intersections. Lord, what the heck is going on? I was there...I'm glad I didn't see anything. I don't think I could deal with it.
Fun stuff...Ended up getting comics and the Asuka figure (that I have been waiting 2 years for!) to match my Rei figure. And met up with Yvette...went to the AMC at 42nd...and saw the Royal Tennenbaums. A great, GREAT movie. Wacky, wild, absurdist comedy with a heart of spite and healing. Takes place in NY...but not rally. There is no 375th st. "Y"...and pretty much theest of the locations in the film were made up. But it works. Better than Rushmore, if you were wondering.
Had some suhrahngtang with Y at KGS...her brother (the one she loves) came in with his girlfriend as we were leaving. They look nothing alike! ANyways.. we had a good time. She might come over this weekend. I can't believe I've known her for...6 years now? How odd.
Doesn't look like I'm making any progress with the VA thing. Ended up watching Ping Pong Club--wackiest, gross out, adolescent, addictive anime ever. :) Need to clean up and mentally prepare for the return to work on Weds. ...*shudder*
NOh-rae-bahng and pangoooooo !!!!
Friday, December 28, 2001 01:26 p.m.
Well...past few days have been really fun and family/friend filled. I really wish I had more time to do "ME" thngs that I set aside...the VA thing, the novel, the clean-up. But I'm thnking ..."Abe, would you rather do things alone...or spend some time with actual human beings." I guess I'm coming out of my misanthropic ways, even if it i only for the holidays.
Last night, went out to the city for the first time since my vacation started. It's a mad house. Packed to the gills...some tense stuff happened around 34th street too... Lots of flashing lights and sirens...need to figure out what happened.
In any case, went bargain hunting and picked up some 20 percent off Ranma DVDs and some other used anime for 10 bucks each. Pretty sweet considering that the stuff never goes on sale in B and M stores. Speaking of which...I should update my "wishlist" for what I want for my b-day...hopefully I'll get one thing from it. ARE YOU READING THIS?
Ok...the good stuff. Met up with Christin (lovely new hair), Seal (better looking everytime I see her), Pete (Seal's bro--big guy, real cool...he may be in NY soon!), Han (their cousin from Korea...eh...interesting, hyper guy) Erwin (I or E? Mr. Smileyguy. He likes trance, go figure!)
Went to SPICE, the ususal, my fave thai-trendy-cheap restaurant. (If you are in town, I'll take you too!) Then we hit K-town for some of the old Nohraebahng.
Highlights: Seal's lovely PUMPITUP skills (so cute, and graceful!)...Pete's stirring rendition of "Creep"(radiohead, not TLC, "very special" not "f$cking special" :P), Irwin's Fastball special, Han's um..how do you say..."international flavored" rendition of "Top of The World" and "My Way", Christin's setlist of old standards, and our duet on "I Want It That Way"... my very special Skid Row (they oddly enough, had a lot of hair metal and thrash in the books..o_O) yowls and my serious "With or Without You" blastfromthepastofoldacapellasolos. It was fun.
Christin and I need to decide on Philly or NY...we can't have our kids commuting like that! They need stability! :) In any case, let's say... I couldn't squeeze Christin hard enough for that "sweet release"...since it had all escaped previously... And I was walking in back of her before! ARRRGH !!!! Smells like...roses. :P I wuv me some Cyoo-t.
New comics out TODAY...and dinner and movie with Yvette? Is this gonna be chill or stressful? IS she gonna cancel? Am I gonna cancel? sigh... I just want to go back to sleep.
...the storm before the calm....
Wednesday, December 26, 2001 03:19 p.m.
...and I'm left to clean up the mess before the New Year's rush...sigh. I think I need to move. I'm always stuck with the clean up duty and my pad is always party central. It's fun...but I wish people would stick around and hlp out a little more. I'm wiped.
Got a lot of stuff to do...late cards (ahem... New Year's cards!) presents, and write that letter of recomendation.
Yay. Let's clean up the rest of this year and start off right.
Sigh..Tis the season.
Wednesday, December 26, 2001 12:00 a.m.
Well, it is officially over. Christmas 2001 is over and done and what have we learned kiddies? God is good and we are siwwwwwy humans.
I guess I'm too old for presents. And it was nice to see the kids get all their stuff. But man, it sux! I want stuff tooooooo!!!! Oh,well... giving is better than receiving. But I better get me a Skyworth for my b-day or I am throwing a hissy fit! *preps the clenched fists and kicky feet*
Had Vietnamese noodles with the fam this afternoon (PHO.. pronounced "ppphhhhhuuuuuh" I think.) And did some minor shopping in Flushing. Always count on those heathen Chinese to stay open on Christian holidays! hehehheheh JOKING! No throweee da por' flied lice! ^_^ (New Year's resolution No.1 -- less evil, more loving.)
The rest of the clan came over for some Shabu-Shabu and all the baby cousin goodness fit for Christmas Day. Which means... 3 nights in a row of my bachelor pad hosting hordes of people. *Sigh* I am so domesticated, it's not funny. I am gonna be one great husband.
Amy called and Gary stopped bye. HOORAY! Two of my bestest friends... yet still so far away. Wonder if they are reading this? o_O
...and the night had to end on a bad note. Mr. K...my cousin's friend... destroyed the new Guncon I go for Justin. So ...no Point Blank 3 for awhile. His inhuman strength has shattered Christmas and made Baby Jesus cry! (ok...not that bad.) hheheheheh.
I need a girlfriend. But I know I should be concentrating on my career...paying off debts, yadda yadda. No girlfriend = more DVDs...and yet, the trade off doesn't sound so good.
Merry Christmas. Now go save up for my b-day present!
Merry, merry ...
Monday, December 24, 2001 07:40 p.m.
Whoooo...what a Christmas! Baby Jesus is happy! Went to church yesterda with Eric and Jamie and her sister Jennifer. Ran into the newly married Phil, Shao... some other assorted folks. Pastor Keller hit all that good shiznat too.
Came back and started to get ready for the PAAAAHTY! had some practice DDR runs and watched Jamie decimate us with her mad skillz. She even has this cute little arm thing an shoulder wiggles she does. It' all instinct! I can't believe she's almost...ya know.. engaged ! Jamie samonim! LOL!
People started showing up at 5...the run down of the total people that showed up...(in no particular order): Angela, Christine Ko, Seal, Chun, Kate, Eileen, Grace, Sowon, Jeremy, Cheryl + 2 sis and sis' boyfriend,Lester, Chris, Nina,Fred, Kelvin and...um..I think that was it...It was a blur of food, DDR, more food, pop videos, and some booze towards the end.
Needless to say... cute girls! One particular one ... ahem... but I won't say anything about that now...since it might be incriminating...and besides..you know *wink wink* (my heart belogs to another...swooon) ...ok playing the drama queen.
Good fun... BUT had to get up early to meet Mom's friend and her kid... we all went to Disneyworld like 15 years ago. Turns out he was at MIT when I was at Tufts...he's in I-banking and has had an interesting life as an overachiever. On paper we look pretty similar...but we're worlds apart...
Speaking of which...the life of the writer. I must, must get cracking on my novel. My ideas are burning holes in my noggin. Got to commit them to black and white and sell that bad ass mofo and scent my territory in the wolly wiles of the lit world.
Actually got C's card today. Ahem...I would give it a "B"...she was holding back the emotional floodgates. I can tell... so much there...left unsaid! In any case, she made good on her promise. She will get noogies galore in 2002.
I'm little late with the cards...but Funa (got the Kupo card!) and naughty, naughty Fae will be getting one in da mail sometime this week!
Well...the kids are over... my garlic stuffed turkey is alost done. So it must be Christmas. *cuddles Baby Jesus tight and kisses him all over!*
LOVE DA BABY JESUS!!!!
Day Two = Clean up :(
Saturday, December 22, 2001 03:16 p.m.
Well..I mopped my floor. I watched some CCS and planning to go buy turkey for Christmas dinner.
Maybe watch a movie with my cousins to.
Mom had dinner with her friend last night... we went to Disneyworld with them.. turnsout the youngest son is gay. He brought his boyfriend to dinner with my Mom... She was totally cool with it. But my Dad made a dumb slip... called him "Chestnut" instead of "Chester".. oh, geeez.
More later...
ARCHIVED! and DAY ONE of vacation
Friday, December 21, 2001 02:23 p.m.
Well, first off..check the BLOG ARCHIVES for older entries... Just click on the dates to go to the entries. ^_^
Well, I got through the stress of giving out presents and whatnot to co-workers etc... Gave Sapphy her gift...and let's say she really does go AIEEEEEEE in real life. (This time it was for something good!) I think she thoroughly enjoyed the surprise.
Finished off the day and went hogwild at Hollywood Video DVD sale. Got home... the vacation of "slackage" has begun!
Joe Dirt was surprisngly good ! Laughed out loud several times... embarassed myself, even! And The Duel... I really liked it. It was like anime! Action, romance, lots of wacky humor. I don;t know why Eric doesn't dig it...
Not much today... but sent out the invite for the annual NCPC NY gathering at my place. All the old church kids from Bosto who are home are gonna be oming oer for DDR and DVDs... good clean fun!
Gonna start cleaning up...soon as I pick up Justin.
