catching up...

Yeesh... this lack of blogginess is getting to me. Lots happened.
Canada was awesome. Got to hang with the family. Ate a ton, including the infamous Yang's Sushi Bar. Drank a lot with Jack and the cousins. Lots of tequila.
Jack and Rachael's wedding was great. In the botanical garden with booze, food, music, and just chaos. Very non-traditional with loads of people drunk.
Tim Horton's and Kisko freeze pops, Pacific Mall...and my grandfather's gravesite. We took gulps from a can of beer and poured some from him. I think gangstas took that from Chinese people. Still...going there gets me choked up every time. It's been ten years. Wow.
Anyways, dvds in the car and duty free cologne wrapped it up. Dexter Season 2 was awesome. The hot crazy girl, Lila...totally reminded me of CAG. The hair and the pale skin. Hot.
Back at work and just kicking it into high gear. Loads to catch up on before the long weekend...and then last minute concert with KY and Big R...KY's friend was supposed to go with her...which was so bittersweet. We had drinks and rocked out in her memory.
Billy "effin Idol was awesome! I saw him almost 20 years ago with Faith No More...and the dude does not age. He was ripped and sounded awesome. Steve Stevens looked the same and he is a genuine guitar (hero) god. Just awesome. That riff in "Eyes Without a Face" is one of my fave of all time...and "Rebel Yell" is one of my fave songs. But brown hair? Oh, Billy. That's wrong.
Fist-pumping setlist:
Cradle of Love
Dancin' with Myself
Flesh for Fantasy
(White Wedding acoustic intro)/White Wedding
John Wayne
New Future Weapon
To Be a Lover
Sweet 16
(Steve Stevens acoustic guitar solo)
World Comin' Down
Eyes Without a Face
Blue Highway/(Stevens solo)
L.A. Woman
Ready Steady Go
Rebel Yell
Encore:
Hot in the City
Speed
(drum solo)
Mony Mony/(guitar duel)
The guitar duel with the roadie guitar guy...well, Stevens and him played on the necks of the others guitar. Have to admit that was kinda gay. And the other guitarist had the most cliche guitargasm face ever!
Fame diner after...love KY and Big R. They are awesome. Pics on Flickr.
Work...so tired. Deal stuff, emails, etc. Awesome day for comics...but then found out my rent got raised almost a hundred bucks! Ugh!!!
So so tired. Just need to sleep and watch Mighty Boosh Season 3.
the geeks were right...

Man, this week is totally kicking me in the nards. Just so much work and responding to emails, getting files (still late and not in!) and trying to plan out for next year. It's overwhelming...and when I think I have a bit of a rest...bam. It's back in full force. I'm tired.
Had a manly margarita and some food with Doris last night and then went to see the Faint at Terminal 5. Opening act was wack. seriously. But the Faint...just awesome. I think this was the third or fourth time I've seen them...can't even remember...

Did all my indierockdancejumping and home.
More work and then went to FISH again! Elaine, Eunice, Hiedy, and Doris all came out to hang with Glo before she goes off to San Fran...what a major year of change. I'm going to ride the coattails.
Glo is moving and is planning her wedding. Elaine is getting hitched in a few weeks. Good things all around.
Food was great as usual and then we went to Red Mango. Girls just gang up on me...but I know it is out of love. Hopefully, one day my whining will stop and I'll have better problems with significant other intact.
Speaking of which...my coworker's friend finally emailed...we need to find time to meet up. Scheduling these days is nuts.
Went on ebay and finally got this anime figure I have been wanting for months! Paid double list price...but worth it considering it is so hard to find.
Also got tickets for ABDC Live! Jabbawockeez!!! I really hope Fanny Pak and Super Crew get on the tour also.
Meeting tomorrow, lots of work to crank out, packing, and then off to Toronto for Jack and Rachael's wedding.
Woo.
where did this week go?
Sunday, August 17, 2008 11:57 p.m.
Just crazy busy with work and getting stuff taken care of. Had some time with the Xbox and cleaned up. Pretty much it. Got to relax over the weekend with the family...
Went to Playland on Saturday night...beautiful weather and the rides were kind of corny but fun. Skyflyer was insane...just hanging upside down for the longest time. The kids had a good time and it was for Lu and Niu's bday.
Cleaned up and need to pack for Canada. Short week, tons of stuff to take care of. My files are late...but there isn't much I can do. Hope it gets settled tomorrow.
Three days and then Toronto...just have to hold on and get this stuff taken care of.... hoo boy.
sad news...

KY emailed me today and told me her best friend had passed away over the weekend. She was hit by a car on her bike last week and was pronounced brain dead. So so sad and strange. She had been to one of my shows and I had hung out with her a few times before. I saw her at KY's wedding, but it didn't seem like she remembered me or wanted to say hi...which I thought was strange...and now she's gone. So sad. Say a prayer, if you can.
Work...same old same old. Tons of stuff and files are late again.
Took IB out to lunch for his bday and ate so much...after work went with NE and SB for oyster special. They are so much fun and both so very cute...and very married. Had a good time with them.
Lots on my mind. Don't want to think. It's been a weird few weeks for sure.
Lord, help us...life is so strange all the ups and downs--I wonder when will things get so great we can just set sail and enjoy.
stop yelling at me.

For some reason...just a lot of hollerin' going on. Not good.
Really, really difficult past few weeks at work. Files are late. Meetings, working overtime, phone calls, emails...blah blah...things just seem to be so up and down. Really awesome or really sucky...but all in all...just non-stop.
After a long day and some bad news... CAG asked me to get a drink with her and her friend. Ended up with her at the bar for 2 hours waiting for her friend...which was fine...but then it was 3 hours of the two of them whining and complaining about another group of friends. And CAG just got downright nasty with me...it's a long story involving the bill. And she apologized the next day and made an excuse about her drinking...but whatever. it was the WORST time I have quite possibly had with anyone. No matter how cute. Ugh.
Weekend was spent sleeping. Just tired tired tired. Ended up getting in a fight with my folks about doing work for them. I have been so tired and stressed out and I have to drop everything to help them on something that seems like their homework? And if I did help...what happens next time? I cannot possibly do this over and over again.
Anyways, Monday....just run and gun. Had 20 minutes for lunch and it was just editing, emailing, phone call, file transfer, mail this, print that, invoice this. BLAAAAARRRGH!
And Glo is moving to San Francisco... crazy! Another one of my girls is moving out of the area. Sad...but happy for her to start fresh in an awesome city. What a year of change...maybe mine is coming next year?
Well, congrats. Gives me an excuse to go out to the West Coast.
Oh...and trying to set up my buddy Jon with EF from work...she is a ray of sunshine and just a lot of fun. She wants me to meet her friend too...oh, man.
Anyhoo. More late files tomorrow, more editing, more meetings. Bring it.
I need a hug.
XBOX-ed!
Tuesday, August 5, 2008 11:48 p.m.
Just installed it and it is so so pretty. Wow. I wish I had time to play...but work...is nuts and just going to take a lot out of me.
Things with the TV station are just fever pitch. Went to the local HQ and may go to LA if things progress. I really want things to work out.
Meeting and phone calls...more and more. Oh man. Not sure how I keep up. It's all caffeine and fumes at this point.
Had oysters and drinks with DDO...man, have not seen her in years. It was great to catch up...really need to not be strangers.
Internal politics at work make me want to puke...but I'm hoping the deals and the cash flow will speak for itself.
XBOX and Halo 3...plus the new Faint album was waiting for me at home. What an awesome day... unfortunately, my ATM card had to get replaced AGAIN. Sigh. I hope it gets settled soon. GAAAAH!!!
Call, meeting, then long meeting tomorrow...let's do this!
Long time, no blog...
Sunday, August 3, 2008 12:20 a.m.
Wow...that might have been the longest I have gone without blogging.
A lot going on...and I'm generally exhausted from work. Comic Con--it's just a blur...but the pics tell most of the story. I'll just rundown the highlights:
Lifelong dream fulfilled: I got to meet Joss Whedon. Also got to meet Nathan Fillion (Captain Mal is frakkin' hilarious in real life), Neil Patrick Harris (LEGEN-DARY!), Felicia Day, and the cast and crew of Dr. Horrible. Got a photo and a Serenity graphic novel signed. My friend at DH really hooked me up with this one.
Got to meet Ronald D. Moore! Exec produceer and mastermind of BSG! I was in the Star Wars area and just happened to notice him there. He was with his kids and family and I gave him my card...and he said his kids love our books. Went over to our booth and hooked them up. It was awesome!
Got to go backstage after the Heroes panel and hang out with my buddy JKL...and then took the elevator with Hayden Pannettiere. She was kind of chilly but nice. Went to their signing and took a pic with her...just as her handler put up a sign saying no pics...but she was like "Oh, he's James' friend..it's ok." She's tiny.
Also got to meet comics legend Jim Steranko--who reminds me of Robert Evans. Old Hollywood.
Also met Ed Brubaker and Mike Mignola--who gave me his card!
Went to the G4 party (got invite through client) and hung out with a drunk Adam Sessler and his asian wife...went with new friend from sister company. It was very cool.
And you can see like a split second of me on G4's day one coverage. Right when after I met Ed Brubaker they filmed a segment with him.
Watchmen panel, Heroes, Kevin Smith, Gerard Way, Grant Morrison, Robert Rodriguez, Rose McGowan, Sarah Silverman, just a ton.
LOTS of potential deals with comic companies and one major network. Really awesome stuff. So much so that I cannot even bring myself to list it all. made a new friend from sister company, met some people on the plane, met new friends at the Con and a ton of business contacts...and it was just great.
Work...really exhausting and some nastiness internally. CAG is crazy...but still super cute. Meeting on Monday, busting my arse trying to close some deals and meetings and calls with new people.
Oh, and some identity theft. I got a new card already and it's not working.
And...I'm kinda sad and lonely when I've got a minute to think about it...but if I stick to workaholic mode...it's all good.
Meh.
