everytime i catch a whiff of some hotdog buns, i always think of primary school days and this boy i knew.

i was a first day horror when i started primary one: i clung to my grandma, crying, and refused to let her leave me. my maid had tied my hair in colourful ribbons and i got told off by the discipline mistress at my very first flag-raising assembly; i also got shouted at by a female prefect for having buttoned the top-most button on my blouse. i remember her name was julia, and julia was a total bitch. i still see her around NUS (yes, i do bear teeny weeny grudges, and i remember them.)

anyway, if you all remember the buddy system, all primary one students had a buddy from primary three. if you were a girl, you'd get a female buddy and a boy would get a male buddy. just my luck; they ran out of female buddies, and i got stuck with a boy.

seven years old and in a boy-hating phase, i was traumatised. my girlfriends, seeing how upset i was, offered to share their female buddies with me. i sulked, i whined and i cried every recess, with my boy buddy sitting helplessly beside me on the foyer steps.

even though my mother gave me two dollars everyday, i refused to eat, and my boy buddy had to use his own money to buy me hotdog buns. and i never paid him back. he'd sit beside me, watching me eat my hotdog bun in tears, missing out on his soccer game with the boys or whatever it was that primary three boys do, until the bell rang.

as i went on to primary two and primary three, and in turn becoming a buddy to my very own cousin, i still saw my boy buddy around school. looking back, i felt very sorry that he was stuck with me, and i couldn't believe that he had put up with me. he was never mean to me one single bit, and he was the most patient person.

i promised myself, then, that i would marry this boy buddy of mine (he was pretty cute.) i never forgot him, and i hope he didn't think too badly of me.

i remember reading sandra's blog about how she saw louis koo at zouk, but as of wednesday night, i now have my very own hongkong star sighting at zouk to boast about. when johann told us that edison chen was at zouk, i could not believe my ears. it's johann after all. when he insisted that it's true, we turned our tails and braved the perils of the crowd in phuture for the third time to seek him out.

yadda yadda blah blah blah; in short we found him in the members' area surrounded by drooling girls with scary eyes. now, he is hot. absolutely, extremely, super-duper, very very very, chao ji wu di, tremendously, drop-dead, ultra, indescribably, inexplicably, mesmerizingly cute. he stood right in front of me, and at one moment his back was facing me and i thought he could do with a soothing back massage. from me.

of course i acted real cool about it lah. denyse introduced me and i became a mute as well. all i could get out of it was a handshake and him telling me he had a flight to catch at 6 am when i asked if he was already leaving. if i had downed five tequila shots beforehand, i would have laid him there and then. if my shoes weren't killing me and giving me three blisters, i would have done the same to his cute friend with the green cap.

edison actually asked for denyse's number, lucky ass! and she asked for his black Underground wristband and he actually gave it to her. yes jinling i agree, she should just smell it every night before she goes to sleep haha. oh well, pretty girls get all the luck. ok sometimes, they get pervs too.

too bad, no pictures with him or anything. here's one just for kicks:

and another:

jess told me that apparently edison was in singapore with maggie Q and jay chou for some movie adaptation of some comic. maggie Q was at the wine bar with edison, but where was jay?

* * *

i got new colours in my hair and a haircut to match on monday for the loreal hairshow by our guest stylists from taiwan. the cut is pretty different from what i've tried so far, but i love the colour. the base is red with streaks of brown or gold. but i think the red might be fading already so sad :( i'm wondering whether i should go for a complete bowl-cut fringe instead of the present 1/4 bowl 3/4 long... opinions? let me know if you've seen me.

let me tell you about my day, just like every other blog around. it went something like this...

i awoke to some buzzing - an sms and a phone call. but curiously, not my alarm. i had overslept for the arts pre-camp! i only oversleep like once a century maybe. by the way, go ahead and be shocked; i actually signed up with my nus mates to be arts camp councillors! long story, but 3 hrs later, we had kissed the arts campers a silent and sneaky goodbye and ended up at partyworld ktv in town! (i hope none of the arts camp people read this.)

i love love love ktv. me, chia, jin, yijun, salt had a blast and HOORAY for salt who never sings ktv and for nice chinese songs with great lyrics. the sound system there is better than kbox, in my humble opinion. i realise the best songs to sing in a group are teenybopper songs from the early backstreet boys and britney days, cos you get to do all those cheesy hand gestures and actions; jinling, better send me our mtv video haha! hooray i didn't get a sore throat and we only paid 5 bucks each for 3 hrs of singing, inclusive of all 4 drinks and the tidbits and the fruits. everyone say wow! i feel so cheated now cos jess and i paid 52 bucks just for the two of us at kbox one time. oops, i meant jess paid 52 bucks.

and we took the harry potter bus! the knight bus. it goes around orchard starting from youth park and its free. we get entertained by a harry potter lookalike (who wore a gryffindor cloak!) and the bus conductor and they give us a little lesson on casting spells and waving wands, hogwarts-style. the bus-driver is damn funny, he wore a beard and the thick glasses just like the one in the movie! then we get our little zigzag scars painted on and our harry potter bookmarks. okay, this seems a little juvenile but it was quite a treat. i mean, some things seem a little lame when you have that particular kind of mindset already, you know what i mean? can't stand those kinda people.

i think the chinese girl working at flesh imp at the heeren is darn cool. and friendly too. sigh i spent a bomb there so i don't think i'll go back anymore...
