Listening: Gackt! Mmm...Gackt...*wanders off to fantasize*

Watching: The first season of Weiß Kreuz, because my boyfriend finally agreed to watch it with me. And I really don't remember it being so poorly-animated before.....*sweatdrop*

Playing: Not a whole lot right now...DVDs have replaced games in my PS2 ^^;; But I'm waiting for FFX!!!

Writing: Weißfic..."Kokuhaku", originalfic..."Devotion", off-timeline Weißfic..."Measure for Measure" <--for Elysaar ^_^

I love: Subtitled anime, Japanese rock and pop music, owls, reading sci-fi/fantasy, drawing and writing, abyssinian kittens, playing RPGs on my PS2, orchids, dragons, email roleplaying games, and horseback riding.

I hate: Adult anime imported for children's programming, most network television, small yappy dogs, ridiculous platform shoes, bubblegum girl-singers (i.e. Britney Spears) and skanky R&B singers (i.e. Lil' Kim), homophobia, and people with no imagination.

I want blood.....

Hey! Hey! Look what I did!

I should be a member of Malice Mizer!

I was meant to be a member of Malice Mizer. I like the aristocratic look, and I have a very fascinating sex life.

Take the "Which J-Rock Band Should You Be a Member Of?" quiz by malloreigh

And I'll have you all know I didn't even cheat on it, since I didn't know what all the possible choices were. I'm so glad I ended up with a band I've heard of ^_^

Too bad they're broken up....... *sweatdrop*

Musings...

Utopian Trunks and I were considering Kaikan Phrase slash, and ran into a little snag...

We want to slash Yuki and Towa, with Yuki on top. Sounds good? Sounds good. HOWEVER!

Yuki is voiced by Miki Shinichirou...which requires him to be an uke. An uber-uke, at that. I mean, really...Youji, Tsuzuki, Keisuke (Oh, you *know* that if he were slashed with Tetsuya, he'd be on the bottom), Kojiro, Katan...Hell, Inferno would probably bend over for Megatron, too. It's all Miki's fault!

So how does one, in good conscience, put Yuki on top? Why, a simple uke-ness transfer, of course! It's just that easy! However, to do so, one must find a suitable temporary recipient of the uke-ness.

We racked our brains trying to think of a one among the Kaikan Phrase cast, and finally came up with the perfect character! And finally, we did......The cowboy lead-singer guy from "Feel"! (name is unimportant ^^;;) He's pretty, he flirts with Sakuya, and he looks just like Kudou Youji, another of Miki's characters! He's perfect!

So~ooo...We transfer Yuki's uke-ness to the Feel guy, send him off to be boned by Sakuya, and that leaves Yuki free for some serious Towa-plundering!

Brilliant, yes? We thought so! Miki-kun, your integrity has been saved ^_^

Stupid healthy living......

Lousy workout regime for suckers...stupid diets...stupid everything!

My arms hurt >_<

Not to say I'm not happy to be going to the gym and working out, but I really wish people would stop trying to "help" me. I don't need anyone telling me not to break my diet...Hell, my mother's idea of "helping" me is to hide all the Coke. Now I'm getting caffeine withdrawl headaches. Just wonderful >_<

Fics are slow, alas, but I'm picking a bit at them. I'm sure you'll all forgive me, however, when you see the project that Utopian Trunks and I are working on.

In other recent news, I went and saw "Brotherhood of the Wolf" last week. As Entertainment Weekly says, it's "the best Hong Kong action French period romantic monster movie of the year." It was.....interesting. I mean, it was a great movie, but one wasn't really sure where the hell it was going ^^;; Kickboxing indians, incest, freaky French people and a kickass villain. What could be better?

Here's an interesting thing...they're coming out with a Spy Kids 2. Ummm........No. I won't say anything. The only sequel I'm interested in seeing is The Two Towers...and Chamber of Secrets.....Okay, and maybe Star Wars Episode 2. There I go defeating myself again. Feh.

I'm going to go and contemplate RPG stuffs and wait for the TV to be vacated...I must play more blitzball! I won my very first match against the Ronso team today! In your face, Squaresoft! You thought you had finally vexed me!

Love and Peace!

Malignant

(Don't ask...I couldn't think of a blog title, so I opened up the D&D Monster Manual and picked the first word I saw. Incidentally, it was talking about a harpy ^_^)

Tay...Don't sweat it. I think people tease others for "antisocial" behavior simply because they're too damn insecure to believe that they're not the complete center of anyone's attention. As for why it's bothersome...Maybe it bothered you because it's nobody's goddamn business what you give your attention to, and it's damn big-nutted of someone to assume it should be them. Tell 'em to blow, next time.

Elysaar...We angsted me last night! I'm so shocked! How's the kanji coming along? I still think Brian's right...we need to start a campaign against kanji. Of course, it would eradicate China's written language, and a good half of Japan's, but....Eh, that's what they get for biting languages off of people anyway. And China can just go and learn hiragana. There. Problem solved.

Disclaimer: I am NOT racist!

....

.........

Schuldich-angst! Schuldich-angst! WAHAHAHAHAHA!!! *chases after Schu-Schu, throwing sticks and stones until he runs away crying like a little girl* Okay, Brad...go get 'im.

Brad: Woof.

Seasonal Blues...

It's happening again! *clutches head*

You know, sometimes I think I'm the cause of it! I go through a depressive period, and all my wonderful friends pick me right up out of it! Then, right when I'm feeling social again, they start to sink!

Ta~aay! I miss you, too! And I would send you more than just RP mail if I could actually think up something interesting to say! You know if you ever want to brave your phone lines, I've got a stack of calling cards going unused now that Richard isn't a long-distance call away anymore. Say the word, and we can actually chat voice to voice for once...Anything to make you feel better! God only knows, you've done the same thing for me more times than you should have to. And you are MUCH more than just an online conduit of fanfiction! It's just that you're one of the best, sweetie! (As for the rest of the best, you know who you are ^_^)

Elysaar, congratulations on entering the work force! I really need to get off my ass and do that... ~_~ Ah well. Glad to see you got some sleep...well, you weren't online at any rate, so I take it that's a good sign. I'm totally excited about that CD!! But hey, take your time...no rush ^_^ Are you gonna be online tonight? I'm home all night, so if you like we can finish that beginning part of Chapter 3...Is Chapter 1 going to be ready to post soon, you think?

In other news, I'm falling deeper and deeper into Card Captor Sakura! The whole Li/Yukito dynamic makes me squeal, but I just can't get over the fact that Li is only ten years old...If they're not at least 13 (12 in certain character cases), ficcing it always gives me pause. Touya and Yukito, on the other hand, is much more attractive.....Aside from the fact that Touya is a clod who probably wouldn't know how to snatch the opportunity even if there WAS one.

I just got the new Dir en Grey CD last night! *sparkle* Though I haven't gotten a chance to hear it yet, since I left the bag with that and the new Fool's Mate magazine at Richard's house...Oh well...I can bide my time. Incidentally, has anyone seen the latest photo shoot of them? Die looks the most normal of any of them! He looks like a red-headed David Bowie (It's so strange seeing him with a semi-normal haircut)...Kaoru, on the other hand looks like he's got nasty bug-tentacle-things growing out of his head, and Kou has what appears to be a massive case of eczema on one side of his face. Maybe it's just creative makeup artists, but it scares the hell out of me. Of course, then there's sweet little bondage-princess Toshiya and Shinya in a fur coat =^_^= So it's not so bad!

In related news, Gackt looks like hell...I mean, he's beautiful as ever, but his hair! His beautiful hair, which looked soooo sweet in that semi-shaggy look, is now all spiky and weird >_< It's as if him and You traded hairstyles...You's got a sorta long look now, and he grew his bleach out. Oh well. We'll always have the naked pictures of spiky-headed You and bleached-blond Gackt-sama cuddling. *goes to worship*

Love and Peace!

Sunday, January 27, 2002, 01:07 p.m.:

Nyahahaha!

Hey, Elysaar! Look what I did!

You're Omi.
The "baby" of Weiß you tend to be a little moody, but despite all the shit that's constantly happening in your life what else can you be? And, despite all that, you're still a pretty all-around fun-loving guy. You still have a little more maturing to do, but you're every girls sweetheart. Sometimes you may rush out and do things without thinking, and also let your emotions get the better of you, but in the end...you'll do what's right. You enjoy the company of elder men.
Which member of Weiß are *you*? Take the quiz!

*giggle* You hear that? It says I'm every girl's sweetheart...C'mon girls, what do you say? *gives Youji the finger* Hah...we know who everyone really loves.

In other news...I HATE BLITZBALL!! BLITZBALL MUST BURN IN HELL!!! I'LL KILL YOU AL-BHED BASTARDS!!!! NYAAAAAAAAHHHH@#$%&)!(#*$&*#@^$!!!!

*koff*

Why couldn't Tidus play a sensible sport? Like golf. Or hot-oil wrestling...

(Funny thing about this Weiß quiz thing...I answered some questions wrong and got Ken the first time, then re-took it and got Omi. I originally put Omi up with this entry...and he turned into Ken somehow. How queer...Oh well, Omi's back, as he should be)

Thursday, January 24, 2002, 04:31 p.m.:

I made a very tough decision today...I've decided to close down South Seas Weyr, my Pern RPG. I put in months of time and effort and love to create the club...racked up a decent membership...and now each and ever member has lost interest.

My five characters there will be nothing but memory soon...it's like watching five dear, dear friends all slowly dying at once.

I think the worst thing about this is that I have absolutely nobody to cry to. My mom would only tell me that now I'll have that much more time for schoolwork...my friends would tell me that now I'll have that much more time for them...There's no one close enough to sit on the phone with and talk about the good times. I can't even get a hug or a shoulder to cry on.

I suppose a pillow will have to do.

Tuesday, January 22, 2002, 06:57 p.m.:

Proud to be a fanfiction author...

Yes, indeed. I am proud to be a fanfiction author, though I'm not always happy with the state of fandom as we know it...

First of all, let me steer you in the direction of Randomaundering, where Talya Firedancer has posted a rant which is vastly superior to mine. If anyone (excluding two other authoresses who shall remain nameless ^^) has the right to make such a rant, it's her. I, on the other hand, probably don't...but I think I will anyway, since if I don't now (while it's fresh in my mind) I never will.

Sometimes I wonder if I jumped into fanfiction writing at the wrong time...The field is simply too big now. No more standards exist. Plotlines, content, even basic grammatical structure have become anything-goes, and how can I expect myself to develop and improve when everyone's too afraid to be critical? So many people rant that fic authors don't owe their readers anything, since they are simply reading for enjoyment without any payment. But does that mean readers should have to sift through piles of over-used, watered-down, poorly spelled and OOC stories simply to find something with a semi-adult Kincaid reading level?

I wrote my first fics about three years ago, half-formed Gundam Wing stories which died before ever being born. I found them just the other day, believe it or not, and they weren't half bad...but maybe that's my own personal bias. In comparison with other stories at the time (and other stories now), they reeked. Like, the stink lines were visible radiating from these stories. But I digress.

My first real, finished project (as those of you who've read my stuff know) was "To Hold the Hands I Love", a Weiss Kreuz fanfic originally written for Kuwabara no Miko's and Talya Firedancer's Kudou-Slash Contest last fall. I was inordinately proud of the story, simply because it was actually finished! That, and the fact that it was being read and given positive feedback by the two people I'd looked upon as demigods ever since I started reading fanfiction. (Note: But now I just think they're normal! I've seen the way you live! *cackles maniacally and runs like hell*) I think it was their feedback (and their award for best Angst/Emotion) that really spurred my ambition. My completed fic offerings are few, as I have a horrible work ethic, but I like to think they're as good as I can make them before I present them to the public.

Which brings me to the part of the rant I'm going to get flamed for...Bad Fanfiction

(Disclaimer: These are my opinions, and my opinions only, and I like to think they tend toward the "common-sense" aspect of storywriting. These are not meant to insult, assist, sway opinion or self-promote. They are just what I think.)

Things that make fanfiction BAD:

1. Poor Spelling/Grammar: How hard is it to run your stories through a spellchecker? I ALWAYS do this, even when I'm certain there are no mistakes...You'd be surprised what you miss. The most elementary of children's' books have good grammar. We learn it from an early age...Why not use it? It simply makes writing seem credible! I find it very difficult to take misspelled words and run-on sentences seriously, even when I know the author MEANS something very profound.

2. OOC-ness: This is always an iffy topic, and I approach it with reservation...I only have one real point to make. There are truly well-written fanfics which are spoiled when the principals retain nothing of their original character but the name...Now, every author is entitled to their own interpretation of a character. Unspecified post-series circumstances, for example, can greatly affect the way a character should be written. Case in point, my portrayal of Aya in my WK fics is vastly different than what many people would write, as I write him in a post-series world where his sister is returned to him and all is basically happy (I also choose to ignore Drama discs and OAVs, which a lesser portion of readers can see/hear and understand)
But please...Consider. Is Duo Maxwell really the practical-joker and comedian you think he is? (I always found his humor to tend more toward manic, half-hysterical sarcasm) Is Omi the shuddering, weeping, virgin uke you write him as? (In my opinion, that kid has a more level head than the rest of his teammates.) If the answer is no...THAT'S OKAY! OOC-ness is OKAY! However, it just means you have to watch yourself...Make sure that you're not taking away the spirit of the character that makes them so much fun to read and write about in the first place. If you want someone to be different, why not make up an original character? I'm a BIG fan of original fiction...write something and send it my way!

Hey, look at that...I'm done! Was that so bad? I don't think so...

Last but not least, let me turn your attention to the Aestheticism article already addressed by several bloggers. I have some points to make...but never fear, I'll try to make them concise!

First of all....."The Bloggers who complain...are operating on a certain assumption, and I think it's wrong." You think we're wrong...Well, Jeanne, that's wonderful. It's a perfectly valid point, and I'm sure many of us are wrong from time to time. But I can't help notice this rather rant-like article in which you complain about the Blogging community......I fear a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

I get the uncomfortable feeling that Jeanne is judging us by our worst examples...I wholeheartedly agree that "The common notion that criticism must hurt to do good is, quite simply, wrong." Of course it is! And I don't think anyone truly believes otherwise...Our only beef is with the people who request honest feedback, then complain when they get it! For those who give feedback simply to bitch about a story they didn't like...I proudly give you the one-fingered salute. But, Jeanne, I don't think you've been fair to the rest of us who use negative feedback in a purely constructive way.

I suppose my main point is...why do you have to listen to us anyway? Why do you, who claim to hate the Blogging community so much, seem to read so many of our blogs in depth so that you can simply rant like a reader complaining about so much bad fanfiction? Furthermore, to do so on a more or less "official" forum like Aestheticism is something even the bitchiest of bloggers wouldn't do. At the very least, we keep our rants away from the hub of information, so that we don't corrupt and confound those who are simply looking for stories without politics.

Your "rant", Jeanne, was an example of elitism at its worst.

Fuu........That was a lot longer and angrier than I thought it would be. But the hypocrisy slapped me too hard in the face to ignore. Yes, I named names. Yes, I will accept (and dispose of) flames. And yes, I will accept feedback of agreement or otherwise. If you've read this far, I thank you.

~Love and Peace!
