book:positively 4th street by david hajdu review: I highly recommend that everyone read this book. It will make you a better person, really. Or at least better informed. Hajdu offers interesting insight into the lives of and story connecting bob dylan, joan baez, baez's sister mimi and her husband richard farina. I was really impressed by the way the story was told: I actually didn't really like any of the characters much in the beginning, but hajdu did a great job of painting each of them honestly (or seemingly so anyway) so you came to like them as you came to understand them better. A bonus for me was just not knowing the story at all, so I got the benefit of a surprise ending, which is always fun. Definitely a must-read if you’re at all interested in folk and early rock music, the history of music, bob dylan, or just the ‘60s in general. Good stuff.
