book:jitterbug perfume by tom robbins review: Okay, so it ended up taking me forever to finish this book. But not for lack of interest, I swear. It was really just circumstantial. After all, the first half of the book was awesome – I loved the characters of kudra and alobar and was completely immersed in their story. I even went out and bought a bunch of incense and started burning it all over the apartment. I loved the theories of immortality that they entertained and I even pondered them and their possible implementation in my life (more baths? More sex? Lots of breathing exercises? Okay!). It was fun. But as my reading time became more scarce, and priscilla and dumb-ass wiggs dannyboy started to play larger roles, I became less entranced with robbins’ story. Wiggs was just boring and priscilla was just annoying. I wasn’t really liking either of them and it felt like robbins was emphasizing them less because they were interesting and more because they were tools to tell the story. Which, of course, is necessary in every novel, but you don’t have to be so obvious about it. But then at the end when kudra came back into the story, it made me happy again. I could just read about her and alobar's adventures all day.
