Bookhags Rule!

Well, so much for trying to have a serious blog about my web project. Sort of like trying to have a serious conversation w/my 7 yo. I wanted Evan to get his Big Buddy friend at school a candy cane. The seventh grade sells them as a fundraiser and they deliver them to the kid's classes. It's a cool thing to get candy canes from your friends at this school. The Candy Cane Conversation went something like this:

Me: Ev, what's your Big Buddy's name?
Evan: I don't know.
Me: What class is he in?
Evan: I don't know.
Me: Who is his teacher?
Evan: I don't know.
Me: Is there anything you're sure about?
Evan: I don't know.

I gave up. Now I'm trying to think of something clever to write because I just finished reading Aimee's and Teri's blogs. I'm glad I have funny friends. I haven't asked Teri if I can put hers here yet, so I won't.

I spent too much money on Christmas presents this morning. My cell phone is out for repairs, and I have a headache and a cough. I still don't know what to get Steve for Christmas.

Some college kid is IMing me for sex. I have stretch marks for pity's sake...

I keep losing my formatting. Let's see if this works. Guy still IMing me.

11:00 P.M. 10 October Michael gave us the web site project proposal tonight. We have to write a memo for next week. He suggested that my site might need some security features with logins and passwords. Good ideas. Caryn is also going to send me the URL to her school's site. I'll need to start browsing and writing tomorrow, but I have to finish grading essays first and then work on my project for Dr. Bonomo's class.

10:40 P.M. 9 October 2000 I've been reading Information Architecture for class. The book is filled with practical information that will be very useful. Some of it is baloney, of course, but that's okay. It will give me fodder for a critical essay for class/webboard posting, etc. I've been making notes about my site for the school. Still haven't written the proposal memo, but I have a deadline now, because that is part of the assignment for class, and it is due October 17. I would like to query the teachers at the school and get some info from them. I'll work on that this week, too. Saw an interesting demo last week of some software called, Blackboard. There is a freeware version that the teachers at Immanuel might like using since they wouldn't have to ftp or anything. Parents and students would be able to access class announcements and assignments from their computers at home. It would be a consistent interface, etc. Something else I need to check out in my "spare time." I think I'll check it out at school, though. My modem connection is the pits lately here at home. I don't know why, but it is extremely irritating.

10:10 P.M. 4 October 2000 I've done nothing else on my web project. I thought about writing the project proposal again. I thought about doing the Dreamweaver tutorial. I thought about looking up some stuff on Cascading Style Sheets. I thought about designing some templates and reworking my English 103 website. I even thought about varying my sentence structure. But I didn't do any of it. I'm depressed. I'm going to go grade papers. That won't cheer me up, but they need to go back before this project needs to be completed. Grumble grumble.

11:44 P.M. 3 october 2000 Okay. My first attempt at blogging. I'm going to use this to keep track of my website creation efforts. I plan to create the website for the school that my children attend. It is in Belvidere, Illinois. The school, not the website. Anyway, I am going to have a main page w/individual teacher pages. I wonder if I can get security so that teachers can post their grades to the web. Some other ideas to add to the site: phone numbers, e-mail addresses, sports schedules, music schedules, etc. I have a list somewhere that I need to find. I also should write a formal proposal to the Technology Committee at the school. I'll do that tomorrow probably. I think I plan on using Dreamweaver to create the site which means that I need to go through the tutorials on the program. So much to do, so little time in which to do it.
