Don't you hate it when you set the alarm for the house, then when you come back in, someone hasn't shut the door to kind of remind you to turn the alarm off, and you set the alarm off, and it's really loud and scares you? Yeah, me too.

Happy Anniversary Tom and Stephanie!

Searches where people have somehow stumbled upon my site recently:
lubbock
no shirt no shoes no dice
pathetic geek stories
passed out dudes
songs from sixteen candles movie
puffer fish light
lesbian twins - a lot of these
fatboy slim video with Christopher Walken
I'm sure some people were disappointed when they got to my site, but oh well. That's the chance you take on the net.

People, here is a great idea that I just have to mention - Read and Release. The object of this site is to:
"*Read a good book (you already know how to do that)
* Register it here (along with your journal comments), get a unique BCID (BookCrossing ID number), and label the book
* Release it for someone else to read (give it to a friend, leave it on a park bench, donate it to charity, "forget" it in an airliner seatback pocket, etc.), and get notified by email each time someone comes here and records journal entries for that book "
I think it's a great idea, as I can't be bothered keeping books anymore, unless they were gifts or extra special, and I am donating most of the books I buy now. You can also simply keep up a list of the books you have read on their My Bookshelf site, even if you don't want to give it away. Anyway, I think it's a pretty cool idea, and thought I would let you know.
By the way, I got this link from a couple of weblogs, but I can't remember which ones, so sorry if I ganked this from you without mentioning your site.

We'll meet again, Carroll O'Connor and John Lee Hooker.
By the way, I think the song "Chill Out (Things Gonna Change) by John Lee Hooker and Carlos Santana is one of the sexiest ever. From the album Chill Out, and also used in the movie Stealing Beauty. I'm listening to it right now.

Simon found a dairy in Auckland that sells Dr. Pepper, and he told me their web address, so I went there, and they sell Dr. Pepper direct to your door, 24 cans for $39.95, plus almost $7.00 postage to anywhere in the North Island. I think this is a little steep considering most canned soft drinks in machines cost $1.00. Simon is supposed to bring me some from Auckland, but I don't think I will be paying almost $50.00 for a case of Dr. Pepper. I'll just stick with the free water.

Check out this cool ass Auckland radio station. Unfortunately, I don't have a high speed line, and I think the Windows Media Player doesn't really like OS X, so I can't get it online. I just get a little burst of sound, then it goes back to buffering. If anyone has a solution for this, please let me know. I really want to listen to this.

Went and saw this Versace exhibit at Te Papa yesterday. I saw this dress and this dress. I think I liked one worn by Princess Diana best, but there are only millions of pictures of Princess Diana on the web so I couldn't find that one. And Stacy, I heard "I Want Your Sex" while I was there, and though of you. Ha Ha.
Saturday, June 16, 2001 Run away and join the circus.
We got an e-mail from our project manager this week, and it was from a guy that I work with, who has had some pretty bad things happen to him in the past few months:
Two months ago four men entered his cousin's house at night, brutally torturing him and finally killing him.
Soon after his friend was killed in a car accident.
Two weeks ago his grandmother died, and her husband of one year sent his family away, saying they weren't family.
A few days after returning from the funeral his wife had a miscarriage.
Then this week his sister hung herself
Rhys then went on to talk about heaven and hell, etc., which I thought was a little inappropriate for work, but evidently he needed to talk about it. The thing about Rhys is he's a really nice guy, but he used to be a skinhead, and when he quit that he went back and apologized to everyone he hurt. He also was stabbed all down his left side by an ex-girlfriend, who was trying to kill him. You would never know all this looking at Rhys now.
Anyway, I know this is a little downer, but I just had to share with y'all.

Happy Birthday Laurie!
Hey, Simon has to go to Auckland for a few days next week, so does anyone want to come stay with me? We've got an extra bed and a big screen TV...think about it.

Had to go get a chest x-ray and have a medical exam for my residency application today, and I learned a couple of things about myself: evidently I have a really straight ear canal, and my reflexes are VERY good. Now I only need that syphilis test to come back negative, and I'll be "sound as a pound." Yeah baby!

If you are planning to or have seen Moulin Rouge, here's a cool site that discusses Toulouse-Lautrec and his prints, and also talks about the Moulin Rouge (the Red Windmill) and some of it's dancers and Montmartre, etc. That elephant was really there!

Congratulations to KK for correctly guessing what movie "No shirt, no shoes - no dice" is from. It is from Fast Times at Ridgemont High. KK is also the only one who sent in a guess, and for her prize she wins a trip to sunny Cancun!
OK, she was going to Cancun anyway, but we can pretend, can't we?

Happy Birthday Stephanie!

Saw Moulin Rouge tonight - FABULOUS! If I ever win lotto, I'm building an elephant just like Satine's. Decadence at it's best. Except I would add more fairy lights. Also, if you ever want to see *all* of Ewan McGregor, then check out The Pillow Book. You'll see they weren't lying in the movie.

Saw Smokey and the Bandit last night. It was...pretty much what I expected.
Thursday, May 31, 2001
People, I need a car window ice scraper like last week. If anyone has one just lying around, can they please send it out? I would be most grateful. I have looked all over for one here, but no dice.
"No shirt, no shoes - no dice." Anyone know what that quote is from?

MMMMMM...CUPCAKES. Remember cupcake sales? Man, they were the best, homemade cupcakes. I'm pretty sure I bought my mom's cupcakes because I KNEW they would be good, even though we probably had some at home. I would lick the frosting off first, then peel the paper off and eat the actual cupcake. I can't even remember the last time I had a cupcake. What about you?

I was checking out a high school alumni website, and there was a girl's name listed for my year whom I was not familiar with, but I assume she graduated or went to my high school sometime, so I checked out the picture she put up on the site to see if I could recognize her, and it was a picture of her...AND HER GRANDCHILD!
And I still didn't recognizer her.??? I've got to find my annuals.

Happy Birthday Rene!

OK, I think the Sixteen Candles soundtrack was just five songs, so never mind on that. It could have been a great soundtrack.
Has anyone seen that Fatboy Slim video with Christopher Walken dancing? It is so cool. It's probably been out forever but I've just now seen it.
We had big thunderstorms here last night and early this morning, which made me happy. You hardly ever get thunder and lightning here, and the lightning is mostly sheet lightning, so not as fun. But still, it was pretty good.
Speaking of movies that you have to watch whenever they come on, check out Blake's site for Pee-Wee's Big Adventure. Be sure and check out the quotes section and e-mail Blake your favorites. I did!
Thursday, May 24, 2001
One of my favorite movies of all time, Sixteen Candles, was on the other night, so of course I had to watch it. It's one of those movies I have to watch if it is on. Also in that list is Mr. Mom and Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Anyway, I found a quiz about Sixteen Candles so you can take it and see how well you do. And if anyone has the soundtrack to that movie, could they please make me a tape? I can't believe I don't have it, but I can't find it anywhere. Thanks.

No one out there is buying any J. Lo albums, are they? Because, I mean, really...

Here's a handy household tip I saw on TV. If your mirror fogs up when you take a shower, put a little dishwashing liquid on a paper towel and rub it on the mirror, then take another piece of paper towel and rub it off. Your mirror should now be fog free. I haven't tried this myself, mostly due to being lazy, but if you try it, let me know how it goes.

Happy Mother's Day to my mother, my friends and family who are mothers, and women who should be mothers but aren't.
Check out this little theatre I'm going to tonight - Light House Cinema. It's in Upper Hutt, so if it's pretty good, I'll be attending it regularly.
So long, and thanks for all the fish, Douglas Adams.

Dudes, I haven't even been on the computer hardly this week, so here's some stuff I want to discuss:
So does McDonald's have the McFiesta burger there? They have it here, and it is right tasty.
You know how in Texas, or the South, or pretty much anywhere in the states, people will hold the door open for you, and when you get to the door, you take it and say "thanks," or if your hands are full, or if a guy is being especially chivalrous, you can just walk through, and then say "thanks?" Well here, people don't do that. Guys will just cruise on through the door first, or worse, I don't know how many times I've been holding the door, and a guy will just slip through, not even touching the door, and then not even say anything. I know they don't have to grab it or anything, but really, isn't that the polite thing to do? So if you come here, be prepared to open your OWN damn doors!
I heard "The Rain, The Park and Other Things" by The Cowsills yesterday, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I think Pantera's in town sometime this month, but I doubt I'll be going. The music's just too damn loud.
OK, that's all for today. Talk to you later.
Saturday, May 5, 2001 This is who I went and saw Friday night
The Topp Twins are lesbian twins (nature vs. nurture, anyone?) who love country music (they played Dolly Parton before they came out) and can yodel, play guitar, play harmonica, spoons and tambourines with the best of them. They dress up as several characters as well and are very interacive with the audience. They have a TV show on here sometimes where they go to different locations, such as a food and wine festival, and work the people there into the skits. They also write and perform their own songs. I love them, and if you ever see them advertised as coming to Big D, or wherever, you better go see them.

OK, I read something in our weekly newspaper here that I thought was pretty funny. There was a large baby announcement in the paper, and the name of the baby is...Tyler Rose. Get it?

Hey peeps, sorry I haven't posted anything in a while, but Simon and I are off the Coke and sugar, and I've been feeling not myself. I'll get back into it in a little while.
