How about the Pizza Hut menu?

Happy 70th Birthday to Willie Nelson!
I'm home sick with a cold - bleh - I think I got it from Simon's friend Tim, who was sick this weekend when we went over to his house. I wish he would have called and said he was sick, but he did not. So now I'm sick.

People, better make your voice heard about this.
Why did we go to war again?
Cherri entered a talent contest. Here is her story:
"It was in sixth grade. Sharee Ingraham and I performed a dance
routine--choreagraphed by us--to The Captain & Tennille. Billing ourselves
as the "Two Tennilles", we even curled our hair "under" just like Toni
Tennille. Our other friend Karen Bailey, who at 11 years old had an
incredibly awesome voice, was also in the show performing her rendition of
Olivia Newton-John's "I Honestly Love You", so we (correctly) predicted she
would win first place. Sharee and I felt sure we could take second place or
at worst, third place if the universe happend to be askew on that day."
"Sadly, as adorable as we were, the Two Tennilles didn't capture any of the
top spots. Second place went to the (slutty) cheerleaders who performed a
complex, "glowing hands" dance (don't ask) to a song I can't recall. And
third went to Zane Jennings, who performed a puppet show with homemade
puppets his mom helped create."
Great story - thanks for sharing Cherri!
Friday, April 25, 2003, 03:52 p.m. Today is Anzac Day
And on a related note, while watching the birthday list on Nickelodeon, one of the kids from NZ was named Anzac. How about that?
Has anyone ever entered a talent show, and if you did, what did you do, and did you win, and if you won, what did you win?

Does anyone else want to cut their ears off when they hear Celine Dion's "I Drove All Night"?
Tuesday, April 22, 2003, 08:41 p.m. I'm going to start it now - please don't reelect George Bush
We get both Good Friday and Easter Monday (?) off here, and then we get this Friday off for Anzac Day, so I had a four day work week last week, and a three day work week this week. I also found out if you work for the American Embassy here, you get both American and New Zealand holidays off. What's up with that? And how do I get a job there?
Did you know New Zealand provides free health care and prescriptions to kids under six years old?
Monday, April 21, 2003, 03:39 p.m. Texas Rangers
Got to watch about half of the Rangers game today. Who's hot right now? Carl Everett, even after getting hit in the head with a cell phone. I swear, they are going to put all us fans behind glass if we can't behave ourselves. Sheesh.
Sunday, April 20, 2003, 11:02 a.m. Since it's Easter, I'll put up Reverend Fun! Wacky!
Well, Happy Easter to all my Christian friends and family. I attempted to make some deviled eggs this weekend, as I get six free range eggs every Monday from a woman down the road, and we usually can't eat that much in a week, so I was trying to use up a bunch of eggs. I didn't have any mayonnaise, so I used blue vein and asparagus dip instead, and it was OK. I should have taken a picture so you could have seen them, but I forgot. Next time.
OK, as for the question about favorite school songs, Cherri's favorites were "The Candy Man" and "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head". Olivia likes an old McDonald's jingle, and Julia loves the Passover and Hanukkah songs she learns at school. Cynthia's favorites were "He Arose", "Hello, My Baby!", "The Weenie Man Song", "Comet" (that last link is pretty funny, has more than just "Comet" on it), and of course the "Beans Beans" song. My favorite was "Roll On, Columbia, Roll On" by Woody Guthrie. I would request it every chance I got. And now I need to roll on. See you later!
Friday, April 18, 2003, 07:03 p.m.
OK, rant time:
Did everyone hear about the American Airlines executives' deal where they formed a pension plan that could not be touched by creditors if the company filed for bankruptcy, and the top managers gets huge bonuses if they stay until 2005, while still asking their unions to take huge salary, vacation, insurance cuts? Please contact AMR and say, in the words of Michael Moore, "SHAME ON YOU, UPPER MANAGEMENT AT AMR CORP.!" Why are we letting people get away with things that are not fair or right? Even EDS, where I work, gave it's outgoing CEO Dick Brown a huge golden handshake, meanwhile we're left barely limping along. LET'S START TAKING A STAND! When you see something that's not right, let the big guys know. Check out organizations like MoveOn.org, Act For Change, and True Majority. They keep you updated on what's going on in the government, and give you a chance to contact your Congressperson and the President as the need arises. Don't just watch CNN all the time, watch other countries' news, read other countries' newspapers online, get the whole picture, not just what the government wants you to see. If you hear of something let me know and I will post it on my site - not that many people read it, but you never know who might surf onto this site.
On the other hand, if you hear of something good, let people know about that too. If you enjoyed a TV show/movie/book/website/article, if someone went out of their way to get you information or provided outstanding service, or you hear of a company that treats their employees well, let them know you appreciate it. It just takes a short e-mail, but could make all the difference in the world. Think about it.

Cut Simon's hair for the first time this weekend. It looks OK, not a great job, but hey it was my first time. Now his head is cold. I need to learn to knit or brush up on my crocheting to make him some fun hats.
I was driving into town today, and passed a covered wagon going the other way. Hey, if you're going to go around driving covered wagons, put a sign on the wagon saying why you are doing it. Unless everyone else is, then it's no big deal, right?

Hey, is anyone going to the Supercross this weekend at Texas Stadium? Because if you are can you buy me a Bubba Stewart t-shirt? I'll wire you the money. Thanks.

Fun this week:
The train Simon takes into town hit a 15 year old kid one morning, and the kid died a couple of days later.
A guy from New York is working on the house next door - I talked to him for a few minutes. I was going to invite him in to watch the Syracuse vs. Texas basketball game, but I doubt our neighbor would have appreciated that, seein' as how he's trying to get a slab poured and all.
I swear I saw James Taylor at the supermarket buying a Lotto ticket yesterday. I don't know what he was doing in Upper Hutt.
Well, that's all my fun - anyone else have any?

Monday, March 31, 2003, 05:19 p.m. Why?

Friday, March 28, 2003, 08:32 p.m. News Dissector Weblog - get the news behind the news
We had forced fun at work today - we actually had to put "Having Fun" on our timesheets. It was paper boat racing, America's Cup II. Our teams all had to make paper boats (but all of them had wheels) that would be powered by a hair dryer, racing down the whole length of our office - no short distance. It was actually pretty funny, a lot of "accidently" stepping on the opposing team's boat, stepping on extension cords, blocking the other team down the course, at one point a guy had the opposing team's extension cord wrapped around his neck! Then we got a free lunch, so you really can't beat that.
Today's trivia - what is "skijoring"?
Thursday, March 27, 2003, 08:43 p.m. I heard this woman on the radio yesterday - she's in Iraq right now
Webworms are in New Zealand!!! Wasn't it a drag to be climbing a tree in summer, and you looked over and there were webworms in the tree! Or they dropped on you while you were standing or sitting under the tree. And you could see them ruining all the trees in the neighborhood. They creeped me out, man.

Word that has worn out it's welcome - "embedded".
Cynthia and Tanya both correctly answered that bamboo is the fastest growing plant, although Cynthia reckons kudzu is a close second, and Tanya would like to go with dandelion weeds.
Cynthia and Tanya were also the only ones to answer the kidney beans question, with their answers as follows:
Cynthia - "I like kidney beans in pasta salads and salads and casseroles - the fiber you know. I don't think I have ever cooked some by themselves though."
Tanya - "And yes, I hate kidney beans. And what's up with Lima beans? Yuck! You'll
never see me eating either. Why does Wendy's restaurants insist on putting
kidney bean in their chili? It would rock if they'd just leave those out."
The only kind of beans I like are jelly beans, and refried beans, especially from Joe T's. That is all.

Saturday, March 15, 2003, 09:53 p.m. George Orwell
We have such a little bitch dog. After we had eaten our dinner (both us and the dog) some ducks were walking around our front yard, and Simon wanted to feed them, so he ran and got some popcorn and threw it out the window for the ducks. The ducks started eating the popcorn, then the next thing I know, our dog is out in the front, trying to find the popcorn too. Seems she ran out in the backyard, through the open fence (usually not open, but tonight it was) between us and the neighbors, all the way around to our front yard (no short distance), and scared off the ducks so she could get whatever they were eating. By the time I got the front door open, she had already gone back around to our neighbor's yard and was probably trying to see what they were eating for dinner. Dogs - ya gotta love 'em.
Friday, March 14, 2003, 07:55 p.m. Kikkoman!
Above site, in English.
OK, Cynthia and Tanya were the only ones who let me know about ringtones, Cynthia said she does not have one, Tanya has several:
1. Charlie's Angels
2. Tainted Love
3. Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend
4. Copacabana
5. Eyes of Texas
Mine is Yellow Rose of Texas, it actually came programmed on my phone, and I doubt anyone here would use it!
And now, a quote to ponder for the weekend:

What do you do when it gets up to almost 90 degrees and you don't have air conditioning? You go to an air conditioned movie theater and see a movie that takes place in fall and winter and you eat apple champagne sorbet. That'll cool you off.
Saturday, March 1, 2003, 05:43 p.m. Women's History Month begins today
Carnival begins today.
I was driving home from work yesterday and the DJ was giving his entertainment news and was talking about Bridget Fonda and her accident and said something about Peter Fonda being Bridget's uncle and I was like "what?" so when I got home I e-mailed him and told him Peter was her dad, not her uncle, and the guy e-mailed me back saying good call and that he had some movie tickets for me to Real Women Have Curves if I would send my postal address, so I did. And that was my excitement for yesterday.
