I've never done this before! Look! A picture! I hope!

It is from this page!

I can shut up about politics now. This gent has nailed it as far as I'm concerned. The comments are mostly not worth reading, but his short piece is right on.

I can't tell you why I find this article by a freelance writer who turned to pimping so fascinating. Unlike many a weekly-tabloid article, I want to know more. Here's a quote from his time in jail: "A mild dose of police brutality would have improved matters greatly..." His attitude toward women isn't exactly monstrous, but it sure falls short of enlightenment. Still, interesting reading.

I have been inexcusably delinquent recently and I apologize to everyone who's ever lived. Especially Lauren Weedman, whose recent one-human show Rash delighted me and my perfectly lovely companion on our first date. If only you had seen it! If only I had told to you spare no expense of time or money to see it! I am a bad man.

But there is still hope. Go see Far From Heaven by Todd Haynes (at the Seven Gables in Seattle) for a visual massage in the style of the late 50's, or perhaps Standing in the Shadows of Motown, which is stunningly entertaining, warm, and funny - and, as BJC will attest, old men reminiscing are sure-fire box-office magic. Doubleplusthanks to Jamit for guiding me into each theater gently but firmly.

And then there's she. Or her, I guess. Yes I'm dating, yes I'm very happy, and yes you can send gifts of fruit and protein powder to me at the new address. (I'd link but she's determinedly un-Googlable. In fact, she's e-nonymous!)

Flash madness. Aliens, monkeys, mushrooms, bananas, and flowers feature in this trance-driven cartoon history of human evolution.

This service will send out e-mail to anyone you choose explaining your disappearance after the Rapture. I think this is just the beginning.

I just saw my pal Chuck off to SF to work for (deep breath) Wal*Mart. Poor guy doesn't want to go for more reasons than I can or should list, but he's as sporty about his fate as ever. I feel extra bad because I've been vacant from his life for a while - and most other peoples' too, but they're still here and I'm getting around to socializing again. Well, at some point I learned that good people never leave forever.*

Otherwise life is fantastic. I've involved myself in the life of a perfectly lovely human, I'm relatively comfortable financially thanks to the moneybags in Redmond, and I'm generally feeling fine despite winter's 6-hour days. My few complaints (bronchitis, endless and boring job search, small apartment) just offer a little contrast to the overwhelming swellness of it all. And I'm not even manic.

Sometime soon I'm going to follow up on my left-eats-itself post of a while back. I've been reconsidering my opinions of Michael Moore, etc., and (in a nutshell) I've decided it's pointless to reject allies or even leaders on the basis of trivial disagreements. I'm still not sure that it's best to fight unsophisticated thinking with more of the same, but we have to fight it somehow.
