Vegas: No longer family friendly? "Casinos are saying, 'Enough of this (family-friendly focus). Let's get back to what Las Vegas is all about, which is to blow your brains out.'"

Good tech. I wonder how many false positives this turns up, though...

Buckley is an ass. Funny, learned, and a good writer (if too proud of his vocabulary), but he's still a jackass. Even when I agree with him - on drug legalization, e.g. - his arguments can be tiresome. But this column contains a throwaway phrase that reveals his mindset in glorious clarity: "the blight of decolonization."

That is not taken out of context, either. The reader can't assume anything about Buckley's thoughts re: colonization. While it's true that the 3rd World has suffered mightily since throwing out the Europeans and Americans who claimed sovereignty, it's silly to suggest that the roots of their problems are that shallow. Apartheid, anyone?

What a dope. The next time I find myself despairing about some piece of idiotica I find on the Left (it won't take long), I can think about Mr. Smug and relax. We're all morons here.

Who's hosting? On March 3, The Cartoon Network premieres Welcome to Eltingville, based on the work of comix genius Evan Dorkin. Invite me to your cable, please.

Maybe he IS an idiot. And comparing him to Reagan doesn't help.

I haven't plugged Friendly Persuasion in a while, so here you go. My pal Larry slaps together an hour or two of audio madness from his vast (think polar ice sheet sized) collection of media. Chinese garage bands singing Beatles songs, 70's corporate training songs, embarrassing celebrity moments, and occasional avant-pop-art-noise. Give it a listen - it's RealPlayer, but that's OK.

Did my taxes. Ouch. I've been bad. Time to budget.
