I was reading an article today that included a reference to President Clinton, when I realized that the presidency is a terminal ward for politicians. This can't be a novel thought, but it is heartening. No matter what, by mid-January 2009 at the latest, GWB will be, literally, history. Maybe we should shorten the term of office to six months and clean house.

So is this just an effort by propagandists to make their other stuff look good?

Shedding season begins today. I pulled mighty fistfuls - hanks, even - off of good old nonplussed Judas. Those of you who remember my fists for one reason or another understand that they are containers of considerable size, so when I say "mighty fistfuls" I mean "Holy shit, that's an extraordinarily large ball of cat fur, dander, dirt, and miscellany!"
Hey, by the way, I'm thinking of having "LOVE" tattooed on the knuckles of my left hand. On the right, maybe "ROB," so I could sign my letters by punching them.

Joshua Micah Marshall's Talking Points Memo is far and away my favorite source of large-scale political commentary. Check out this short, chunk-style analysis of why we're in Iraq. Move on, if you like, to his longer piece in the Washington Monthly. Good stuff for all.
