If you're reading this, odds are you know that I've had $$/work woes lately. (If you don't, where've you been and who are you and please tell me more about your mind-control cult.) So things have been picking up a little lately, but I was still kind of despairing, until...

Sister Jill brought me the Alleged EASY STREET Candle from San Francisco's Santeria store. Featuring images of bags labelled "wealth" and "finance," a cornucopia filled with bills* and coins, and a man in a checked jacket and straw boater shoving fistfuls of cash my way. Sweet.

And before I'd even lit it I got work offers from the lovely people at HL2 and Women's Wear Daily**. This morning Jamit had asked if I'd thought about seeing if Speakeasy was hiring - and pow! in my inbox was an email announcing a copywriter position open there. I was afraid to light the candle lest I choke on my winning lottery ticket or something else all ironic and Twilight Zone.

But I did, and I'm feeling generous. Get ready for EASY STREET!

* The good kind.
** Really. REALLY-really!

Remember "homicide bombers?" For some reason that wonderful bit of antispeak* floated up into consciousness this morning, and now it won't leave. What really freaks me out isn't its idiocy so much as that Junior believed the rest of us would be idiotic enough to follow along. Does he even have a native language?

* Is there another term for laughably ineffective political language? "Doublespeak" connotes competence, I think.

Oh, no. I heard that Sid "Civilization" Meier was releasing an sequel to my favorite old computer game, Pirates. Now I'm going to have to find a copy of a 10-year-old game, with nothing to go on except this old map I bought in a tavern.
