Jamit got me hooked on The Office this weekend. I had heard of it obliquely, but goodness gracious is it funny-tragic-messed up. It's a documentary-style sitcom that uses the seeming conflict of form and substance to great advantage. The schadenfreude is wonderful, if hard to describe. It's a pornography of discomfort--several characters, especially the boss, are so emotionally challenged they're actually painful to watch. Painful in a good way. Look for it on Kazaa, or maybe in a freaky video store--the first season is out on DVD.
