Straight out of Revelations.

I just skimmed this, but it looks like an interesting series of articles examining the funding of alternative media. Rockefeller, Ford, and the CIA all seem to be shooting dollars toward Pacifica, the Nation, Z, and other theoretically alt-left mouthpieces.

Would we be better off w/o Roe? I've provoked friends by suggesting that it might be a good thing if Roe v. Wade were overturned because it would finally radicalize the mainstream left. This article (which might require free registration, I'm not sure) goes farther and foresees the demise of the Republican party in the event of an overturn. It also says it'll never happen, and goes way out of its way to proclaim that the magazine is pro-choice. Interesting stuff.

One more thing before I go back to work. I have coined a new hip-kid jargon item that I urge you all to work into your daily verbal routines. The awful feeling you get in the morning after eating too much chocolate at night should now be called a "Frangover." Thank you and good night.

Watch it - Lileks' gallery is (temporarily, I assume) broke after the second one. You can get to the third one manually, or use this handy link. Who says I don't care?

Lileks scores again with a new entry in the Gallery of Regrettable Food.

Yellow Times article about the bin Laden-Hussein non-connection, and particularly how the mistranslated bits that have been released are obscuring the whole message. Can anyone tell me how reliable YT is? The article is a bit shrill - but if they're right, they're right.

This pretty much blows their cover, doesn't it? Support our war early if you want the spoils, people. The site looks legit to me, but I'd love additional info if anyone has it.

Excellent pro-affirmative-action piece in The New Republic (which occasionally requires registration, sorry). I have my doubts about AA's effectiveness, to say nothing of its unsavory political consequences, but this tight little essay rips the conservatives three new holes, and that's always a good time. Each argues against hypocrisy rather than for the merits, but it's still satisfying.

God says marriage is more important than suffrage. It's stories like this that make me wonder if atheists have a point.
