I Digress
So, Sarah is co-editor for Under the Influence, listed below - and she got mad at me for not saying that when I linked to UTI. Heh. Anyway, this is her journal page, which is really lovely and you must visit. Lots of lyrics, and she quotes Jack Kerouac, so you know I'm interested.

Recently, Sarah went off to school in New York, but I should point out that I think New York is really the Faërie. She seems to agree. So basically she's been kidnapped by the Fae, and we're all doomed. Or something.

Surl.org
A realm of pure vitriol. Surl dot Org - NOT dot Com, because that was apparently already taken, and non-profit organisations get to be surlier, anyway. They're surly on their own time, after all. No need to do a half-assed job /just/ to get paid. There are Surly Green Cartoon Chicks. There is a Milk & Cheese graphic. There are Buckets of Surl(tm).

Under the Influence
A music e-zine, basically a reviews-type place that Sienna co-heads. A good place to look for less mainstream stuff, with reviews and sound clips - with plans for expansion on the horizon. I've already done one review for it - for Cake's "Prolonging the Magic," and I just submitted a second one, reviewing Lamb's "Fear of Fours." Nice, clean design.

In other news, I'm removing that pitas icon at the top of the page, in favour of a link on the sidebar. I find the icon a bit - irritating, and such. Plus more sidepoem!

Rape of the Lock
Alexander Pope's Rape of the Lock, via the web.

A mock epic concerning the, ahem, "liberation" of a girl's lock of hair, and the ensuing wars. I'm reading through it, because I had to read an excerpt a few years ago but - naturally - not the whole thing.

A website dedicated the to the DC Vertigo comic Books of Magic (And it's spinoff, Books of Faerie).

It is the story of Tim Hunter, a 14-year-old from London who is, it seems, destined to be the greatest mage of his age. Hence he tends to end up dealing with all kinds of things like education-minded mages, evil sorcerers, a succubus who falls in love with him, a modernized Eros and Psyche - just to name a few.

Books of Faerie deals with one of the supporting characters, Molly O'Reilly, who seems to have gotten herself cursed by Titania, queen of the Faerie Folk, due to a bout of jealousy.

cursed to walk / above the earth / and taste no food again / the wind whistles through dark hair / ice makes its presence known / "i wish i could remember what i just said" / genie or djinni? / your eyes are like mounds of coal in the dead sea / overcome with delight / chaos runs down from the corners of his mouth / little things crawling / across your memory fibers and nerve ends / reminding you / that they are there / reminding you / of other little things / forgotten things / that want to crawl as well / down your spine / as you remember them / and you plead / for the golden touch / without thinking about the consequences
