May 9, 04 | 03:00 a.m. | Feeling: Artsy.

0 I finally got around to drawing again: this is something I just finished using Painter/PSP/Photoshop Elements (lol...such complicated progammes for this little artwork). It's called "Crusader". I guess this is one of my understandings on the War on Iraq, and an attempt to express my disgust with some of the idealistic bullshit some of the pro-war camp fling out to justify the invasion. Gomen--it's a huge file (having saved it as PNG)!

May 8, 04 | 01:54 a.m. | Feeling: full.

Wooooow. We had dinner at Herbs. Good restaurant, but the food was expensive ($40 per person). At least, I think that's a lot, but then I don't eat at those pricey restaurants. The food--oh!!

I finished watching Xtv!!! Finally, I now know one of the possible endings to X. I heard that CLAMP discontinued X (the manga). The ending was pretty...interesting. Basically, Kamui = Christ, making the ending both depressing and uplifting at the same time? I'm glad that my favourite little girl made it out ok. I should finish that Yuzu shrine one of these days.

May 5, 04 | 05:33 p.m. | Feeling: Colourful

She's so hAwTT I was practising using Painter last night--and ended up colouring Range Murata's design sketch of Sophie Forrester (from LAST EXILE).

I got a part-time job for the summer at a local hospital...entering data. Don't spread this around, but this is my FIRST official job. Wonderful.

May 3, 04 | 12:19 a.m. | Feeling: Pretty good.

Alas, I didn't do much on the weekend--actually, ever since my last exam, I haven't done anything much. I am pretty bored, and Ennui is the cousin of Melancholy....

I scanlated a new chapter of Peace Maker: go read! Di, I tried to write a comment in your blog proper but the comment thingy was not registering...anyway, I'm really sorry to hear about this painful state you're in. *big hug*

The ever lively Aki's back to the blogging world ^_^. I think Leigh's back as well.

April 30, 04 | 04:15 p.m. | Feeling: Relaxed.

I finished all my exams on the 26th: I'm so happy this year is over. Actually, it was a pretty awesome year all in all. I had some rough spots during the March essay crunch, but that's "normal". I got one of my marks back, it's pretty good. I pray that the rest of the English marks will also be in the A range.

There are several things that are simultaneously going on in my life. One, I'm getting ready for my 2 summer courses. Two, I'm playing around with Painter (it's much harder than I had orginally thought!). Three, I'm debating whether or not I should call this guy who was in one of my classes. I don't want to come across as being romantically interested in him--since, I'm NOT. He's intelligent and opinionated, and since we're practically neighbours, I think it would be alright if I called him. Hmm. Hmmmmmmmmm.

Does anyone know anything about a Chinese film called "Lan Yu"? I think it's a yaoi flick ^___^;;;

April 23, 04 | 09:51 a.m. | Feeling: Recommends.

Sleep Is For the Weak is a highly amusing anime series' review site. "Bad Jew" is particularly funny reviewer.

It's fun to get into debates on online forums, they're practice rounds for academic essays. I often dash off a few posts right before an exam, to get my wits going. Now if only I was as quick with my tongue as with my keyboard...

April 22, 04 | 08:05 p.m. | Feeling: Exam Cram

One more exam to write and then I'll freee. Yeah, the Latin exam was pretty horrible. I do think I passed the exam though, which means I passed the course. Bah, this course is going to bring down my GPA. Do grad schools look at your non-English credit marks? The grad administrator at U of T said "no," but what if they do? Then I'd be screwed, of course.

Anna suggests that I should go out with this boy who's in second-year. I've met him once at an informal magazine launch party; he was fascinating. Although I am easily mesmerized by people online, it's unusual for me to be more than mildly interested in people in "real life". It's not that I'm a hopeless Otaku who prefers 2D characters to 3D ones. Rather, I find that most people I meet on campus (myself included) are reserved and shy; they don't show you their interesting side because of the strict academic environment we're in--I suppose. Anyway, I don't think I have the energy to think about boys/romances right now. I also find that the longer you've been out of the "loop," the less interesting all that seems to you.

Gotta go back to my studies now. Bah!

April 13, 2004 | 01:18 p.m. | Feeling: New Recommends

I think the anime lineup for Spring 2004 is looking great.

Aishiteruze Baby | BT Link

Synopsis: A high school Casanova (named Kippei) is ordered by his family to take care of his 5-year-old cousin, Yuzu. Some scenes are bit...uh...pedophillic, but the tone of the show is definitely on the sweet and comic side.

Koi Kaze | BT Link

Synopsis: On the spur of the moment, a salaryman returns a lost item to a highschool girl he meets on the subway. The first ep totally won me over. The manga scanlation is being released simultaneously; I like both.

Shura no Toki | BT Link

Synopsis: Set 10 years after the battle of Sekigahara, a seemingly stupid ronin is hired to protect a feudal prince against his murderous uncle. It's a samurai show, with some cute gender-play--not very "deep" but it looks like it could be fun.

Matching wallpaper. Some of us at Shoujo Station embarked on a Fantasy book marathon. I chose to showcase Jovah's Angel by Sharon Shinn. In this installment of her series, Shinn complicates by exploring the question: what if God is a machine? Synopsis: More suited for scholarship than leadership, Alleluia reluctantly assumes the office and burdens of the Archangel of Samaria. Amazon URL.

Layout based on art by John Jude Palencar, edited with PSP 7.

Here I am, reading 'literature'--not!

My 2 adorable cockatiels.

I took this picture of our rosebush.

The 'tiels again.

My Mom is wonderful at raising flowers and birds. Children, hmm, not so much ^___^

Here's my room, seen at one angle. Each shelf contains books from a specific literary period.

Another shot of my room, seen from the other side.
