Kamui Shirou, from X, is this feature's coverboy. His character undergoes tremendous change from X-1 to the current times. His persona morphs from that of an angry, rebellious upstart, to a devastated victim, an indecisive leader and, at last! the nice boy of X16+. Besides, he's simply adorable.

Online since Aug.30, 01. *wooo! -_-;*

It's never gonna be done; so why not post?

Well. The following is the Kamui x Yuzu fic Rubie was talking about. I figured, it's Sunday night, the fic's NEVER gonna be finished (baaaaahh^^; but a reincarnation of it might be!) so I might as well post it (either that or the dustbin). Ack...you wouldn't believe how shy I am about posting this on the blog, not that it's risqué...just that, well, I haven't posted in a long time so all the nervousness' just been building up. =_=;;;;

The fic has little plot. That, in my eyes, is the principle reason that it failed. Oh well!

Untitled Kamui x Yuzuriha Unfinished Fic

“Uhh.”

Yuzuriha glanced sharply at her companion, “are you alright?”

Kamui pointed an accusing finger at the offending object sitting on the tip of his nose. His long, pale violet eyes were strained intently on it, and his mouth had drawn slightly downwards in marked distaste. A stray snowflake had landed on it, and was melting quickly, the impolite thing.

“Oh you poor thing.” She comforted him as if addressing a small child.

“Who--me or it?” He asked. She laughed--a pretty sound that floated upwards until it merged with the clear, woodland air. The iced snow on the ground crunched under her feet as she walked over to him, reached out her hand and brushed away the crystal dew on his skin. The contact was brief, another one to add to the growing collection of quick hugs and friendly taps on the shoulder she gave him. Don't be a twit: she's always hugging her friends, it's just the way she is, he told himself resolutely but was unable to control the warm blush that spread across his cheeks.

“Alright now?” Yuzuriha asked, brown eyes bright with humour.

Kamui nodded briskly, shifting his eyes, growing increasingly annoyed with himself for thinking too much into such a simple gesture.

“You look cold."

Well, my ass is freezing, but I'm more concerned with the disturbing lack of feeling from my fingers. Kamui shrugged carelessly and jammed his hands into his coat pockets, "I'm fine, don't worry about it."

"Kamui--you're not even wearing a hat!"

Kamui bit back an impatient retort. "I couldn't find one, remember?”

"Sorata did off you his before we left--"

"Enough, I'm fine!" Her companion snapped out in clipped tones. Yuzuriha's eyes grew wide for a moment, in surprise, perhaps. A fragile silence stretched between them, more chilly than the wind that tumbled his hair into his eyes. An apology was in order, he knew, but he couldn't think of anything appropriate to say. Abruptly, with stiff shoulders hunched defensively and eyes wiped of emotion, the he began to walk.

"Silly goose," she deftly stepped forward and blocked his path, "of course you're cold so there's no point in pretending otherwise." Before he could stop her, Yuzuriha quickly unwrapped her scarf and looped it twice around his neck. "I'm not about to let you catch pneumonia and leave me the entire project to do," Yuzuriha announced purposefully. She quickly locked her arm through his, "come on, we really have to get this report finished!" Suddenly, she was a flurry of activity, enthusiastically pulling him off his feet and pointing with her free hand to every which withered plant buried in the snowy ground as if they were the most fascinating objects she'd ever seen.

The scarf was like a soft and warm heat that melted the cold away. It smelt of...of spring flowers--the gentle fragrance of her hair. Kamui inhaled the sweet, clear scent deeply, his heart twisted almost painfully in his chest.

So this is what "struck speechless" means, Kamui's mind slowly processed. He couldn't believe that he had been excused to quickly and without argument. He wanted to stop her and demand to know why she was pretending nothing had happened. He wanted to ask her why she was always so…kind to him. Yuzuriha was always trying to get him to take better care of himself: to dress warmly, to eat better, to sleep more, to worry less. Why she was so willing to spend her time focusing on his well-being.

"Thank...you." He finally managed to say. Yuzuriha rearranged her arm to fit more comfortably in the crook of his own. Even though her face was turned slightly away from his gaze, he could feel the her smile in acknowledgement.

They walked on in silence, comfortable once more in each other's company, pausing occasionally to collect soil samples for their school assignment. The snow-capped mountains towered over them like giant pillars, majestic, ancient and proud: a spectacular sight, certainly. However, instead of looking at the natural beauty that surrounded him, Kamui's eyes were drawn to the slight form of the girl working determinedly beside him.

He studied her, with lowered eye-lids, and began to take in a multitude of previously unseen details…like. Like the rosy flush in her cheeks, partly from the cold, and partly, from the tiring field work. He noticed the brightness of her eyes, the smooth curve of her neck, unveiled to his eyes now that she had given her scarf away. Kamui observed that when Yuzuriha handled the delicate measuring equipments, her fingers flew over the buttons and knobs with confidence and efficiency. When *he* had held the high-tech toys that Nokoru had let them borrow, he had been reduced to a fumbling idiot. The constant clicks of the meter had gotten on his nerves, and destroyed his attention. Yet, in her hands, the equipment functioned silently and smoothly. Perfectly. Flawlessly.

"Here, hold this open for a second?" Yuzuriha knelt quickly, bending knee to the ground. Kamui tore his mind back to reality, and quickly held apart the sides of the plastic bag open. She scooped up a chunk of decayed, frozen brown leaves into the bag and sealed with neatly closed.

"What's this?" He asked skeptically; it looked like dirt to him.

"Well, you know how the prof is always saying that the best way to learn about the animals in an ecosystem is to study their droppings?"

"Er, yeah. You mean this is..." "Uh huh, and it's perfectly preserved. C'mon, we've got get more of these!" Yuzuriha stood up, dusted the dirty snow off her dress, took his arm again and steered them deeper into the forest.

Kamui reflected ironically at the sudden reversal of their roles. Back in Tokyo, he was the leader of the Seals. But out here, in the vast, white stretch of the wilderness, it was Yuzuriha who lead them on their mission. She was the one now in charge, telling him what to do, where to walk. And he did not mind it one bit. This freedom to be a follower for a change--instead of the leader--was unexpectedly invigorating. He was content to let her make the decisions, to direct him in whichever direction she wished to go explore.

Debut of a new shrine!

Check it out, I made (well, almost finished at least) an actual Saber Marionette J shrine! Feedback would be appreciated. (i.e.) Go sign the g-book.

Well, it's finalized. We've sealed it over a bottle of vodka and messenger. I've given my Escaflowne Clique over to my very capable, very talented and very cool e-sis, Dianna. 55 members and counting, this is the first Esca clique to hit the net (and the most popular it would seem). Go join it immediately! Arigatou Di!

English essay...finished, all of it. My God, I tell you, I couldn't have done without my Dad pushing and pushing me to finish and correcting along with me. It's nice to have a Dad who's an english proffesor.

Go see Sav's new layout of her personal site NOW. It's...so bluidy fine. Now featuring Tori, irridescent green (from the depths of the sea), frames and popup.

Oh yikes, you resurfaced! *confetti* Awesome!

I want to do a Tori layout too! But it's not the end of the month yet...but who cares. I'm afraid it's terribly plain, terribly, terribly plain but...*sigh* I'm hoping her loveliness will distract the visitor enough that he/she will take no notice of my yucky design non-skills ~_~;;;

There's Colonel Dirtyfishydishcloth.

What? Sav? Sarah-neko has a blog?! Well, I'll be; welcome to pitas Sarah!

Hey, Dianna: I got the popup to work, arigatou!

Seiichirou, who?

For those who aren' really into X (though of course you really ought to check out at least once ^_^), on the right are a series of pics of Aoki Seiichirou, the 30-ish 'zine editor. Isn't he cuter than Clark Kent? Like CK, Seiichirou's other job is to protect Tokyo and its "kekkai". He's got THE coolest powers ever: wind-master.

It's hard to say exactly what his appeal is--especially compared to the other brazenly hot X-guys (Kamui, Fuuma...etc.), but one can't help but like this guy. Perhaps it's the way that despite his age and maturity, he's still able to blush in Karen's presence that's so utterly endearing. Perhaps it's the semi-serious, almost boyishly adorable smile? Or heck, maybe it's the glasses! Haven't you always lusted after tall, older guys carrying a book in one arm and an umbrella in the other? Hey, don't get Freudian on me...but I certainly have! And know what? University is THE place to find a diverse collection of males, from your sexy TAs, to the book-guy, to the random guy strolling down St. George. Yay!

I hope that CLAMP doesn't kill off Seiichirou. Sure, if they could kill off Seishirou just like that, they can certainly do away with a minor character like him. And, c'mon, it's already X17 and every DoH (Yuzu, Sorata, etc.) have come out unscathed (well...not too badly injured) so, variety dictates something drastic is gonna tip the balance. Hmmm...dun dun dun.

Dolphin, did you download it?!

×× struck @ ×× Nov 21, 01 ×× 08:39 p.m.

What is this I hear about Subaru and Fuuma?!?

Wow, just read a summary of the december Asuka issue of X @ Dreams of Sakura. Apparently, from what I gathered, Fuuma kept Seishirou's eye and gives it as an early Xmas present to Subaru. My initial reaction: mwahahaha. That's hilarious. I love how blithely Clamp does away with the little inconviences that is modern-day medicine. My after-thought reaction: Ewwwwwwww. Break it down, and the proposition becomes very disturbing indeed. Eternal love and all that should only go SO far ^_^. Oh...*tries to imagine Seishirou as a rotting corpse*. I'm sure if Clamp ever decides to illustrate that they'd make Seishirou the most attractive dead guy in Tokyo!

Oh no! I hope Seiichirou and Karen make it. Just because they're in their 30s and the manga is made up of the (primarily) younger sets does not mean they're dispensable. I LOVE the nature of their non-relationship. It's the highlight of the manga, IMO. That, and Kamui and Yuzuriha's non-relationship as well ^_^;;

Rubie! I got your message, la! I was just joking about the Kamui falling off cliff thing...umm. Yes...4...if not more, it's getting pretty crowded. Boo hoo ;_;

*sigh* English is evil, must pull yet ANOTHER all-nighter to finish this be-damned essay. Essay be-damned!!

×× struck @ ×× Nov. 21, 01 ×× 01:51 a.m.

Okey, must pull another all-nighter.

I saw my Biology midterm mark online. All I will say is that I got a 3.7 GPA average. BUT, I only got 12% higher than the class average and this is very...difficult to live with. Indeed, I respect everyone who is taking Bio @ UofT (and anywhere else for that matter) since it's not an "easy" science (easier than engineering and biochem, but still not "easy"). Just that. Well. Bio's supposed to be my best class (got 90s in highschool) so it's a humbling experience to know that there are many, many people in the programme who got much higher than I. Like a wakeup slap. Take my kooky pal who got 96%. I love her, she's a great friend to talk to, but WAH, SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!! 96 fucking percent! *weep*

Anyway, I get math back tomorrow. *shudder* *shudder* Did I fail? I am convinced. Pray for me?

Anna, your blog has the most butt-kicking design, I'm in awe. *waves* I need your skills man.

Announcement: Everyone: thanks to Dianna, I've downloaded MSN messenger. I even caught hold of Sav for a bit early tonight. Can't wait to talk to y'all!

English Lit, bite my @ss!

It's 3:18 AM on a SUNDAY night. I'm still up, pretty tired from an entire day of working on this itty bitty (2000 wrds) essay for Eng Lit. Ack. Gotta talk about irony *supresses a yawn*. I figured I can still keep up these all-night-ers when I'm still young enough to have the physical energy for it. Umm...I've procrastinated muchos time away from a) having waking nightmares about what I'll get in Math and Bio test; b) surfing as "breaks" i.e., if you see your site being hit by someone @ this un-Godly hour, it's me; c) doing a prototype layout for a personal fic archive (yeah, I decided to make it a "go" after I found the most perfect image of the much adored Cpt. Sagara ^_~) d) listening to Under the Pink by Tori Amos.

Hey I really love this CD, IMO, one of her best! God, The Waitress and Space Dog are my favourites though I love them all. Sp Dog was perfect, hitting a bunch of perfectly placed minor chords w/ a hip underlining beat to it.

My dear, I tried out the codes. It didn't work, but I it's my fault! I think I accidentally deleted a quotation mark or something. I'll try it out again tomorrow! Thanks bunch ^_^

Here's a list of fics I seriously am placing as the "must finish ASAP" list. For those who care?....

Forgot My Mittens [X][Yuzu, Subaru][75%][yup, after a Tori song, 'wrote draft#1 in June, Gawd]
Frost For the New Year [X][Yuzu x Kamui][10%][Is being revamped, but dammit, R's right. We NEED more YxK fics.]
Speak No Evil Ch.8 [Migel, Celena][65%][First began the series one year ago @_@;;]
Untitled[Amiboshi x Hotohori][95%][I'm real hopeful about this one, woah, another ancient one, I think I wrote Draft#1 about 6 months ago]

Am also working on a little project w/ CS B. I've been pretty retarded about the contribution so far though>_<;

Random thought...

With the popularity of group logs...I just, literally 2 seconds ago, thought, how precious would a Tintin blog be, eh? If I wasn't swamped by work I'd honestly think about starting one! NEway, maybe someone else'll do one.

What the hell's "frequency dependent selection"?!

Oh yes...I want in ^_^. Aww! Did you know that my Migel shrine sort of died...in your absence? *sigh* Poor dragonslayer, he really is a terrifically cute one. And Sav's adorable Chesta shrine expired too ;_;

I did my BIG biology test today. 20% of my mark, no joke. *sweatdrop* I think...maybe...that I didn't completely fail. Actually, no, I don't think I failed but I'm hesitant to speculate a mark 'cause it'll curse me! Whooosh.

It's over. It's over. *gulp*

So lovely!

Dianna, I adore the collective's 2nd fall look!! It's...wow...modern and stylish, classy and sexy--distinctively, it's got your touch of design. Thank you a bunch for dedicating it to me! *is touched to the heart*

Am sending out another huge glomp to Rubie-chan for the lovely and sweet dedication, soar. I've already told you privately how much I love it, but let's now make it global! Yeah!

Wai! Some people make the best splashes, uh huh, I mean you! It's a wonderful salutation, one that I return whole-heartedly. *hug*

Ok. If I don't stop now I'm definitely going to turn into mush ^_^;; Err, no one look at me until tomorrow unless you want to stare into a set of very, very blood-shot eyes. @_@ Medusa.     *zzzzzz*

Scorpion King Dude RocksterNEwho! There's this interview with the ILM dude from the Mummy 2 team (who, depsite his intense geekster looks seems to be really cool) who goes through how they made up the blood-curddling evil critters for the movie. First they show a bunch of initial designs (AWESOME) then the computer animation stuff, etc. The pic on the right is a cool one of the Scorpion King w/ his entire body done up in lines. Neat huh? It fairly demands to be made into something!

Crammed in a links update (15 minutes to school time)

I just linked a few more blogs that I've come to greatly enjoy. Iron chef Sakai is one of the best! Umm...woah Cellie, I didn't know there was an Escaflowne RPG blog out there. WOAH! Speaking of Esca, I was finishing up my pre-bed reading of Jail Bait by Marilyn Todd (I think that's her name) when I somehow got thinking about the entire story with Leon Schezar and Yuri, Hitomi's grandmother. It's a really interesting relationship, albeit way too ambiguous and under-explored. It should be weird, seeing as how he was in his 30s, had a kid and wife already, and she was only 15 (from Earth and all that) but it's more sweet and sad than icky. Yuri is a really, really pretty character, arguably one of the cutest Esca girls on the show. NEway, if you want to learn more about them, got to my e-sis' Mary's site. Awww...now I want to see Esca again!

×× struck @ ×× Nov. 12, 01 ×× 09:52 a.m.

Echelon's new layout is already to go--go see it and tell me what you think? Awww, shit, it took me long enough to finish it eh?^^;; Umm...I like the new look, but as always, the tables nearly killed me (which is a pretty pathetic confession since I use rudimentary tables to begin w/) XP.

×× struck @ ×× Nov 11, 01 ×× 06:39 p.m.

@ the top of the mountain, yeah baby!

Rubie: I hope your eye gets better, ack ack ack, what happened? I wear glasses, have been wearing them since grade 6. Apparently, I have a pretty bad case of astigmatism, whatever that is. Umm...yeah, my left eye is about one degrees stronger than my right. Har har, that effectively put a damper on my youthful ambition of becoming an Astronaut ;) Yeah, I have disposable contacts (hélas, they're not coloured) but I only wear them on vacation. I hope a good night's sleep'll be the cure to the headache! Or the pain-killers....awwww..

Laine, wai, there you are! The best of luck on the midterms--I hope we'll be able to finish the plotting for the A&A site @ break time!

Dianna thanks a bunch for the site-compliments *glomp*. Urg, I agree, frames can be frustrating sometimes--but personally, I find tables infintely harder. SOOOO HARD!! *cries*

Wow, okay, it's been a great day so far! I wake up at noon from studying bio into 3 o'clock in the morning, catch a bit of Star Trek, go off with Mom to help her buy groceries--meet up with three friends from highschool, converse, drop by Blockbusters and picked up The Mummy Returns on DVD!!!! I have The Mummy on video ('cept the son of one of Dad's friends took it and hasn't given it back yet. It's been a year now >_<;;) and I've seen Mummy II in theatres x2, once with Dolphin-chan and another time w/ OJ, whee! NEway, I put it on my credit card (was ~$30) and won't think about how much I've been spending of late.

NEwho, the movie is fabulous! However, it may be that I'm really biased towards it 'cause it's one of the few Egpyt-ish films out there. The special effects are nifty, but I think the director got a bit too ambitious with the ILM because the computer animation of the Scorpion King in the final moments was, in a word, CHEESY. Tons of omake is stuck into the DVD--at least one music video (I haven't had the time to properly view it fully), interviews with the main characters, behind the scenes. Makes me wish that anime DVDs are this diverse.

Another fabulous part about owning Mummy II on DVD is that I can do screencaps--hopefully when Dolphin gets back from BC for winter break, we get together and produce a Mummy site--so yeah, I experimented with the caps and found to my delight that the quality comes out great. You need to brighten up the cap by at least 20% to get the gold to really glitter. Neatness! Who else's seen the Mummy?!?

I got my flute back from the repairs, $180 was the total (charged it to my credit card, once again) but it was so worth it. You have to see the before and after shots to fully comprehend what an amazing job they did. Wow, I played for about 2 hours. Bizet, Handel, Berbiguer, Bach. SUGOIIIII!

And now I get to study some more on my Bio mid-terms, this'll be great: sugoi!

PS, Rubie, Grave is a really super movie! I saw on this site that Ebert (that movie guy) gave top raves for this film so it's got to be pretty good ne? Umm...it's a really depressing film too, though, depressing yet spiritually uplifting at the same time. Oiy.

×× struck @ ×× Nov 10, 01 ×× 07:39 p.m.

Musically down no more!

Yay! I just called the music people and they said that my flute's all ready for my pickup! I can't wait to hold my baby in my hands once more...it's been a V E R Y long time since I've felt this excited about anything. Strange, all through the years when I was studying for those exams, I thought music was a chore that I had to trudge through...like Physics, but now that I've discontinued my lessons, my interest in the flute has suddenly sprung up. Ack, of all the students my teacher taught, he told my parents I was one of his worst. It's disturbing how accurate he could pin-point my personality type just from my playing. He said I was very intuitive with the music, and I could be expressive if I really liked a piece, but I didn't practice enough so my technical skills were too raw to get me anywhere. Ack. Ack. Ack.

Hmm...now I gotta find $200...Mummy?

×× struck @ ×× Nov. 10, 01 ×× 12:05 p.m.

Not X that's for sure.

Dianna's blog is up, yay! It's such a lovely blog *sibling rivalry*^_^. Go see it now!

Yikes, I just finished seeing Grave of the Fireflies (1988) on video (thanks P!). WOAH. That film was heavy. It gripped at the heart from the opening sequence right through the anti-climatic ending. There were so many hidden and often repeated symbols, the fire, insects, family, military, water and the tin can of candy, that it gave this documentary-like film a very artistic and surreal touch. Anyway, if you're ever in the mood to sit down for 88 minutes and experience post-war Japan through the eyes of a 14 year-old boy and his baby sister, this is one of the best films of the genre. Oh? I just read somewhere that the film was shown as a double-feature with My Neighbour Totoro. Okey.

×× struck @ ×× Nov 9, 01 ×× 10:05 p.m.

God-damn that test.

Umm...damn. Drat. What the hell was with that test?! What the hell's wrong with me?! I made at least 3 multiple choice mistakes. Each question was worth 5 marks. I couldn't even answer the second last question worth 7 marks! That's already 22 subtracted from 100! God, I'm so mad at myself >:( I made such stupid errors! Of COURSE you have to bloody well change the bloody inequality sign when you divide by a negative number. Any grade school kid with basic algebra knowledge would know that! *bangs head against keyboard and snarls* ARGHHH!!!

Arggghhhhhh!!

Neh. No one said university would be piece of cake. Neh, no one said U of T was an easy school (*snicker* it's not supposedly called the "best" uni in the country for nothing >_<;;;;;). But WHATEVER, come hell or high water I am now even more determined to get into that bloody Biology program!!! Okay...

Woah, that was some badly needed emotional purge. ^_^ See? I can show a happy face now.

At this beautiful morning, after a severe but oh-so-rapidly-passing mental short-circuit last night--I just wanna do that stupid test and get it over with, yeah! It's at 6 PM tonight. I was a total wimp last night, was doubting if I should even be going into this science--but my Mom shared some of her bottomless reservoire of wisdom with me and pulled me out of the slump. I will NOT let this little test discourage me into quitting biology. I WILL NOT!

Dianna: arigatou for the encouragement *hug*

Wow, wow wow another gorgeous layout for Swan Dive! I checked out the Sub plan...YES. I loved it immensely--but, I'm gonna do a proper review of it by the mail.

*hangs head in gloom* I only have one more day 'til my Calculus midterm. Oh Gawd. 30% of the final mark. Oh no. I wish I was still in highschool! No, I wish I was still in Grade 6 when my only concern was how to hit the baseball to the outfield ^_^. *slunks away to study more*

PS, who saw Star Trek: Insurrection on TV tonight? It was either that or the Emmys--which, from a cursory glance, looked very depressing. Yup, I saw a goodly portion of it (again) and it was better than I remembered it to be! Woah, I don't care if Picard is a 60 year-old bachelor with a bald dome and a triangular head.
