I just finished bio TYS homework set by Mrs Chu. Ack. My head hurts like shit. I know hereditary is my favourite topic and all but... Alleles, genes, loci, homozygous recessive etc etc.. Oh, realised neither my kids (if I actually have) will be blood type O, even if I married a person who is O. *shrug* It's really fun though. I'm still struggling through SS. EEEEeek! 3 pages of essay questions prepared with notes by wednesday, oh the reason why I wouldn't want to be chummy with my teachers.

Covered relative velocity during tuition with Ms Ving and talked about what to do next year. Looking forward to it, except the whole JC-life thing.

Last night talked to Sis about going japan. Nah, I wouldn't like it unless I could afford a stay at a ryokan with hot springs and a 30,000 yen-ish meal to blow a hole through my wallet. Yay. So therefore have decided to give them $ to buy me artbooks, mechandise and a aterlier boz/ gouk jacket. Yipee.

Got my prelim timetable last thursday. Friday was e-learning day and it was awful. I decided against submitting my A math test. I did the questions I could understand, other than that I just skipped. It's unfair. There's no point in submitting half-done work, It's a waste of time, I might as well just use them as exercises eventually it hung on me. I had to restart my comp. I'm surprised I got 33/50 the e math test, it mean like O.O? It was awful.

Well, my O's end on 16th Nov. Decided that I shall work for Ms Ving (help her compile her math stuff) for 3 weeks or so (and maybe gatecrash grad night, haha XD). Go to Italy for a week, then maybe to Bangkok with Mom. Continue working till christmas. The usual dinner<3 Apply for a JC (for first 3 months, I don't care what JC, if I can get 3/4 of my current L1R5 which is approx. 14) Go to school. Hopefully get into NJC, apply for an internship with one of their attachments with IBN etc. in June or get a job in maybe retail (selling handphones!) I don't really know. But I would really like to get an internship.

I saw the screencaps (Kudos to BK at Gamefaqs) and ZOMG@&#%$&!!!!!!! Poor Jin, he got all bloody and all and, and... ;__________________; I hope the cutscence is good, wait, it BETTER BE GOOD. Oh the XSIII music is fantastic, very .hack-esque. I didn't really like her TRC work as much as her .hack series stuff. Especially liked the 'missing year' ending song, it made me want to cry...;__; (after seeing the Jin death shots) However, it was damm cool. That fact that we fight Shion as a boss, biatch! I really want Jin to kick her sorry ass. Like 'I'm a uber-cool katana wielding samurai, bitch!'(I really doubt he'll use such language but since I'm biased against Shion...) Plus, he's such a sweet brother. The whole Able-Elly-Nephilim and chaos-KOSMOS/Yeshua-Maria plus Anima and the deus system was very reminiscent of Xenogears. SQUUEEEEEE~~~~<3 I really want the game. But only after Os....

Let me squeee~ in utter delight.

Yesterday had a sort-of brunch with Kiwi, Cyn and Sak. It felt like what a summer holiday should be. Endless blue skies, immaculate white fluffy clouds floating dreamly and serenly in the azure sky. The sun's rays falling happily. Kids wading in water in the heat of the afternoon sun. A morning brunch with friends.

But it was the last day of the June Holidays.

Kiwi insisted on watching Teen Titans and Totally Spies(don't ask me why) while Sak moaned away about being unable to watch Project Runway, Cyn just watched and I made snide comments like, "Why are dressed in the colours of the traffic light?" or "If they are as fit as they seem, I don't think those staple-things will hold them up" But it was much fun. Eventually they had to leave for band (damn you, on a beautiful summer day!)

Anyway, watched Victoria's Secrets Fashion Show (2005) with Sak and Sis while re-reading Gorgeous Carat 2. Went for a mid-afternoon swim with Sak and Sis. Watching Sak swim is like seeing a dog in water, hur hur XD Wait, it should be cat because she occasionally 'meowed'.

I have homework still waiting for me.

However, yesterday evening... I realised I missed a call on my handphone (as usual, seriously, I NEVER pick up) Apparently the caller called me while swimming. The number was so familiar, I thought it was maybe Ms Ving because of the first 4 numbers being 6737. Called back and, hee, Kino called me. I squueeeeed in utter delight after talking to the lady at the counter, trying very hard to restrain myself. SQUUUEEEEEEEE~~~~~~~ Immediately after dinner, hopped to Kino with Kor.

Also, recently discovered something. I hope to get hold a copy of 'The Sword of Etheria', the name is cheesy but it's just the EU release of OZ, which I have hoped very much that would have an US release. I saw some of the gameplay/cutscence videos on youtube, and the art style, ish sho pweeeetttty~~~~<3 like swirly whirls metal blade-esque. Its clean, rather dark-ish atmosphere, with xxxHOLiC-style colouring and pretty swirly/twirly/whirly/Art Deco styled weapons, buliding and the asian styled water colour painting in the opening CG-ed animation. Not to mention, decent voice acting for the main characters (Feel, Cain, Leon and Almira) Actually, the fighting reminds me very strongly of DMC. Plus, there's Toto who's got to be the most bad-ass cat-thingamajing with bat wings. I'll get it and Xenosaga Ep III: Also Sprach Zarathustra after Os. Although I'm not too sure. The cutscence are in english, but the dialogue in windows don't seem to be... Does that include the commands? *sigh*

Have I mentioned how kick-ass XSIII's music is? Thankfully Kaijiura Yuki is wholly in charge of the music, which is great instead of just the cinematic cutscences because I'm sure I'm not the only fan who hated Second Miltia's music. But it's a pity they scrapped the old battle system with the event slot and stock system, I thought it was fun, made sure that my battle ended on the 'SP' slot. Ha! I'm a cheapo.

Well, since I finished SV (last friday and was waaaaaay overpowered). It's time to review!

Genso Suikoden V [幻想水滸伝V] Review 101

I have a problem with people who compare it with SII. No, really, I find it -very- annoying. Nonetheless, both games have their own pros and cons. But, seriously, I would give them the same score. SII, had poor graphics (it was made in 1998 for heaven's sake) and also several annoying characters (let's not get into that) and SV had the longest ever loading time. No really.

Plot
This is not spoiler-free

Ahhh.... politics! Lots of it! <3 Makes me very happy. More wars, more polictics, rebellions, schemes, conspiracies! This is the kinda game I like. The more complicated, the better. As not in the Zack-Sephiroth-Cloud fashion but the suiko type. Technically, the main character is The Prince (aka Chio Bu) and (un)fortunately, he is not in the line for the Falenan throne. Only women can rule, therefore, Welcome to the Queendom of Falena.

It starts off as Queen Arshtat (Mother to Prince and Lymsleia) is unable to restrain the Sun Rune's corruption to her mind (and literally destroys a town, Lordlake) and the Prince just came back from an inspection and learns of the horror that was place upon Lordlake for their betrayal to the royal family and stealing the Dawn rune (or so it seems). There's the Senate which is split into 2 factions, Godwin and Barrows. They're as bad as each other. Godwins supports the use of the Sun Rune (and the other 2 runes, Twlight and Dawn) to subjugate rebellion and keep peace. However, the Barrows prefer diplomacy with neighbouring countries to improve relations. Gizel Godwin, Sialeeds ex-fiance plots to win the Sacred Games so as to gain Lymsleia's hand in marriage and use her as a puppet queen. They also hire Nether Gate, fomerly the Queen's Assasins but they were disbanded when Arshtat and Ferid became Queen and Commander of the Queen's Knight respectively. Technically, you just kick their ass, A LOT.

There's a lot of political struggle going on.

The Godwins eventually betray and plot to kill the royal family with Nether Gate, forcing the Prince and co. to flee from the Sun Place (Sol-Falena) and take refuge at Rainwall, the Barrows' family territory. Then we learn that Salum and Euram Barrows framed Lordlake and stole the Dawn Rune (which the Prince is chosen to bear) They also intended to make the Prince, become King of Falena and have him marry Luserina Barrows so to put the Barrows Faction in power in the new Kingdom and technically make you a poster boy.

The Godwins try to kill all dwarves and beavers to recreate a 'Falena for Falenans'. Use Lymsleia to rid of the Prince and co. and make you look like the bad guys. Force the power of the runes for themselves and makes a deal with Armes (a neighbouring kingdom) to suppress the rebellion but backstabs them and uses the Sun Rune to subjugate them. Also threatens the Dragon Cavalry from joining the Prince's Army by killing the dragon horses' eggs among other things. (they're a bunch of nasty people aren't they? the Barrows family is as bad, they try to ruin your reputation and several -other- things...)

And then the usual, start a rebellion army with the 108 Stars of Destiny, gain allies in different races(Beaver, Dwarf, Dragon Horse...), factions(Dragon Cavalry, Estrise, Sable, Lordlake, Raftfleet) and nations(Armes and the Island Nations), and (try to) save Queen Lymsleia, is betrayed by Sialeeds whose intentions are to destroy the Senate for you to save her niece and nephew from being a pawn of the Senate.

I very much liked the Prince's character developement. His family is almost literally wiped out, Sialeeds (Aunt) dies using the Twilight Rune to prevent the Sun Rune's attack, Arshtat is killed by Georg because Ferid (Father) asks him to kill her if she should lose her mind and Ferid is killed by Arshtat who well, loses her mind. And we have Haswar, the Prince's first cousin (once removed), the Oracle of Lunas who stays by the Prince's side, but doesn't die.I like her character, she goes round hugging anyone she thinks is cute. XD

Whew. That's a long summary, there's actually more but I had to cut it down.

Amusing Story Points

Rahal cross-dresses(as his sister) at one point of the game and damm, he's hot. Apparently, *ahem* he has certain shortcomings and therefore is still single...

Bernadette is your aunt. Her eldest brother is can't remember or recognise even if she saw him is Ferid, the Prince's father.

Lelei, apparently is lesbian. She has a thing for Lucretia Merces(your *ahem*cool strategist/tactician)

Lucretia is from the Karayan Clan, Grasslands and remembers the first Fire Bringer War and the Original Flame Champion (before Hugo)

Gameplay

A lot of people complained about the high frequency of random battles. Actually I have no qualms about it. Seriously, you're gonna need the potch. BADLY. I had like 3 Saint's Cloaks and 3 Corruption Shells (999,990 potch each) and it's not cheap to buy good equip for 18 people and level up all their weapons. God bless Egbert's potch finding skill (and the line, 'FILTHY GODWIN DEVILS')

I liked the use of the different arrangement in battles, that was fun. The battle system was great however, I was a bit lost about the war battles, I didn't realise they were real time until the middle of my first war battle. The fluidity of the duels were great. I'm glad they introduce the rock-paper-scissors thing into the wars. Like Cavarly->Infantry->Archers, much like the duels(Attack->Guard->Special)

Graphics

Great. It may not be godly beautiful like Square-Enix games but the little details like the constant magical wind causing the flapping of the Prince's scarf and Lyon's ribbon, the shadows and they change shape depending on how you face the light and all. Yup, it was pretty. They artowrk itself was beautiful, the designs and clothes.

Music

I LOVED IT. Seriously. It's better than KH's. Not really, it's very fitting for the game. A bit celtic but not really sticking to one style. Ahh... it was just great. However, the music at Stormfist, Port Spinacks and Sarounix Castle was just waaaay to militarian-ish. Pissed me off.

Fav track - oh, that's hard. A Sad Wish or Traces of the Sindar Civilisation or The Light moaning in the Darkness. Oh wait, Wind of Phantom was good but I still liked SIII's Ai wo Koete more. Oh and I liked the flue remix of the battle theme if you bring Rania along.

Mini-games

None can match Ritapon from SIV but I liked Checkers and Blind Man's Buff (which I can proudly say I'm an expert in). Dragon racing is not easy, it took me like 4 times on beginner to come 1st place. =_=;;; But it grows. Eventually.

Fav male characters

-The Prince, of course

- Kyle for being a great character, mage-knight, does decent damage and has great affinity with Lightning and Water. Plus, he's hot and has a great personality. Kyle/Georg or the Prince, is just <3 (I swear he's gay! LOL XD)

-Galleon for being a POWAR tank, no seriously, get his Mow down and Armour of Gods to SS and he kicks ass. Slap a firefly rune and a sun badge on him and watch the damage inflicted barely hurting him, even in the boss battle (as it did for me) And he's a decent damage hitter and since I also have to many 'S' ranged characters, him being 'M' ranged is just great. Plus, the gulit-ridden knight from Lordlake and being previoulsy married to Silva is a character plot bonus.

-Georg Simply, for kicking ass (and butt) and just being cool. Though he's unavailable most of the game and lousy magic defense but being a fangirl, he rocks.

-Richard just overpowered and damm fast. No really. Put a Saint's Cloak on him and a killer rune and watch the damage he does on the final boss. And he's such, a fanboy. The whole 'Mueller-worship- thing is just funny/amusing and feeds my fangirl needs.

-Ferid, for being cool and from the Island Nations. No, Ferid, is just cool.

Fav female characters

-Zerase the overpowered mage, I feel bad to use her but 1. She's fast 2. She does decent damge 3. Her 'don't bitch with me' attitude is just funny 4. the mystery behind her is interesting 5. She's a plot-based character
Plus her star rune is ALMIGHTY TEH r0XXors.

-Lucretia, she's a goddamn cool tactician. End of story.

-Cathari She may have low MDEF but her damage is in a thousand and her godspeed rune makes running around an ease. And she's long ranged so she rarely gets hurt unless it cluster/row/line damage.

-Marina 1. She runs the inn which is free 2. She heals you during battles 3. I support Marina/Belcoot.

-Luserina She's nothing like her incompetent brother or scheming father and she's your party member changer. Plus, she apparently can't differentiate between good and bad art, which is amusing.

-Silva She hasn't got a bedside manner but she's great as a war character and is hell of a doctor. Plus, she's got great character and plot.

The voice acting was good, not annoying like -some- games, it was better than average. I especially liked Kyle's and Georg's. One of them reminded me of Jin's US voice actor(Xenosaga)...

It was a great game (big improvement from SIV). I think I enjoyed the 70-ish hours worth of it than KH2. No really, I liked it more. Yup I loved it. Even though it starts slow (with lots of running) its gets better and the added features add depth.

Rating: 9.1/10

SOME FLITHY DEVIL BEAT ME TO IT.
I have to wait 2-3 weeks for the goddamned artbook. >.> I swear if it is the same person who beat me to the PS guide, I WILL TRUE MEN TACTIC-SORCERY CHAIN MAGIC THAT ARSEHOLE.

Anyway, I finished suiko V last night. Arstwal mountains? Fun. I think I was waaaay over-powered (everyone level 57 and above with the best equipment and level 15 weapons) and Prince's party was like level 61 and everybody has either corrpution shell or saint's cloak and level 16 weapons. ^_^V I got a choice to leave Falena or help Lymsleia. Chose the ' help Lym ending' (My sis will do the other) And squueeeee-ed loudly when saw Chio Bu (aka Prince) with shoulder length hair in the Commander of the Queen's Knights outfit. so hawt~! Even though the whole game just reeks of Prince/Lyon, I prefer Prince/Luserina... The only 2 straight pairings I would support is Galleon/Silva and Shigure/Sagiri. Ack, they're so sweet. However, Kyle/Georg, Kyle/Prince, Kyle/Rahal(crack! It reminds me of Kyouraku/Ukitake), Georg/Prince, Rahal/Roog would be much appreciated. Ah well. The joys of suiko.

Heard the orrizonte remix while eating, it's so feel good. Got homework to do.
