i love reading this old stuff
Sometimes when I am bored or a little sad, I like to read things that I wrote years ago. It amuses me. You can go to my daily page and check the old entries out. I even linked it without the ad banners.
Speaking of which, should I keep the ad frame? Please e-mail me: annie @ newdream.net. I would hyperlink that, but I fear spam.
Insound cinema
The fine, fine people of Insound always seem so nice -- and they have videos, too. I just caught the Mogwai video, and you can too.
I also think I just ate something with chicken stock, and now I feel nauseated, but you can't feel that, too. That is something that is just for me.
pinch me, it's arianna huffington
In the past, I have usually made fun of Arianna Huffington -- a conservative pundit fond of saying things that rile me. Lately it seems like she's turned a new leaf, and boy, I must thank her for writing things like this. Good stuff.
Belle and Sebastian parody page?
I know there's a B&S page out there that parodies their album covers. If you could send it to me - annie at newdream.net, that would make my day. I always love a good chuckle.
oh, also, i finally updated my page
I have a lot on my mind and as much to say about it. Hence, I'm going to write daily again in October. I think it's going to be possible. Expect lots of cryptic messages that don't make sense to anybody except me. Then you can have fun trying to figure out what they mean.
One am, time to write Ophira a letter (paper, not some lame-ass typed diatribe) and meet Mr. Sandman for a date.
Note that the Sandman reference was neither cryptic nor an allusion to the Metallica smash hit of the same name. I'm just sleepy.
You betta recognize!
Er, notify! Andrew does it again, and you can too. Todd "Cheetos" Levin already has set up his lovely trembling list. Maybe if you do the same, your windows will magically grow orange curtains.
RU-486 approved by FDA
About freakin' time. I'm almost giddy because of this. So much hard work, so much activism, and it paid off: women will have safer access to abortion. Whether you're pro-choice or anti-choice, you've got to admit that this is a safer procedure. Hurray!
Horrifying!
What's worse: the collectible marionette dolls, or this? I think this.
Fun?
I have been here. Despite what the text after this link says, it is not really fun at all. Lots of expensive clothing and skinny ladies with isn't-it-ironic 80's music blaring. Zzzz.
This is why you shouldn't vote for Nader
It's too easy to explain why Dubya doesn't deserve your vote. But, my fellow liberals, many of you are flag-waving for Ralph Nader. Toss aside the fact that he doesn't have a snowball's chance in hell, and there are still reasons why you shouldn't vote for him.
Insta-matic
I started a new job, and I am happy to report that everybody here is very friendly. Nobody here calls me a chickenhead, and y'know, that feels all warm. PLUS, sometimes my co-workers play The Smiths, Oy Al Ognet, and the like. One of them is in a band called Insta, and you can go to a show here in Chicago. They have been compared to the Darling Buds, which sends me back to junior high bliss -- plus, Mr. Kickbright likes them. So it must be pretty good, eh?
Hi from New York City ! Annie's mom here - flew in for a fun weekend. Found a darling French pastry shop in SOHO... it is very small, perhaps twelve feet square, but filled with old wooden cabinets & displays...and an original glass ceiling from Paris... a feast for the eyes.
Now Annie tells me this is a fairly known place - called Balthazar. I havn't tasted the croissant yet so no comment on food quality.
i miss mark
...and Danielle, and Dave, and all my old friends. I miss being younger, even a college student in some respects. The older I get, the more fervent is my belief that the best age is eight.
I can't get online
...except at the library, which is kinda rotten because I can't Telnet (nor can I FTP, which is why I am writing on this here page). Furthermore, the librarians are generally rather mean; Constance and Krysta put them to shame. I did manage to snag a Colette novel as well as the new Harry Potter book, and I'm oddly satisfied about the latter. Say what you will, but those books are entertaining.
Evan may be transferring to Northwestern for law school. I personally think it would be a wise choice; nothing against Loyola, of course, but it seems that NWU might be a better fit for him. I'm still angry with them for rejecting my undergrad application. I had plans, dammit, BIG PLANS.
Anyway, I'm at the library, surrounded by noisy pre-teens and their younger siblings. One of the latter keeps staring at my screen, being a nosy little devil, and consequently I freaked out while looking for my brother's web site -- a similar page had a big fat cigar on it, which looked like something else. Sometimes a cigar's a cigar... and other times, it's something that makes you look like a bad library patron.
Brad Pitt doesn't like Belle and Sebastian.
Well, can you blame him? Saw Fight Club this weekend. Edward Norton is very good-looking and seemingly witty; he is the kind of boy who I'd meet, befriend, and then fall for three years too late.
Don't hate him because he's beautiful
Maysan and I agree, Duchovny is the man for we!
("the man for us" didn't rhyme)
DYYYYY-NOOOO-MITE!!!!!!!!!
annie tomlin came busting through the door with signs about flower power and saving the baby squirrels....
Anybody know what this is about?
I grew my hair out
Not really, but I'm excited to find another A.T.
just like fugazi
Jim DeRogatis just became one of my favorite music writers.
