11:50 p.m.
make ur day with kopi-o!
kopi is the way to go!
this song reminds me of muthu and her kopi-o sweets...
*drumroll*
muthu aka my new tablemate! :)
newae, i'm never gonna buy food from elsewhere and eat it at the foodcourt in cine anymore.
it's just too much trouble.
the 2 cleaners there kept reminding me repeatedly to clear the rubbish on my own...
when i had barely even started eating...
in a dialect i didn't even understand.
and today's the last day of forum theatre...
we didn't do that good a job this morning...
but i'll miss it, still.
even though i missed the funny anti-smoking skit performed during assembly today.
blehx.
anyhow, i'm not that cash strapped anymore. :)

05:29 p.m.
i am sooooo dead.
squandered off the whole sum of my science tuition fee...
maybe i should skip tuition again tmr.
to avoid the payment...
but my attendance is already alternating between weeks.
:(
nvm...i have bigger issues to tackle.
for example, the mountain of incomplete hol hmwk right before me...
and little me standing at groundzero.
i never sleep early on the last day of sch hols newae.
i'm used to it.
i'll live.
.....
and if i lived a thousand years
you know i never could explain
the way i lost my heart to you that day
but if destiny decided i should look the other way
then the world would never know
the greatest story ever told
and did i tell you that i love you tonight
.....
oooh...my grandparents brought homemade chicken pies! :)
my grandma bakes alot.
newae, the both of them were standing behind me as i was typing my abortion argumentative essay...
and grandma kindly gave me pointers i could use to argue my point.
but she got so carried away, it seemed to me as if i was pregnant and she was trying to talk me out of getting an abortion.
seriously, she was wagging her finger in my face, saying things like 'it's deathly traumatising...you will suffer!' and 'think about the aftereffects, karina, think about it...'.
i was just nodding my head away...
and then, after about 10 years, she finally ended with, 'have u tried the chicken pie?'
i practically ran to the kitchen to grab a plate.
anyhow, it's nice to have them over.
parents are gonna take them out for dinner soon...
it's back to the hmwk for me.

10:15 p.m.
happy birthday trish! :)
woke up super early this morning...
for a moment, i thought sch had started...
but remembering it was trish's bdae, i sprang out of bed.
quickly washed up and got ready before leaving the house at 7am...
dad sent me down to her place half an hour before the meeting time of 7.30am.
damn...i really can't stand the deckchairs there.
as i sat down on the edge of a plastic chair...the latch gave way and scratched my back heel hard.
i landed on my bum going 'ow ow ow'...and this annoying old man in the pool started laughing at me.
i really felt like kicking his belly...but all i could do was give him a sheepish grin.
mean old man...
i spent the rest of my half an hour taking photos of him waddling about in the pool.
mean i know...check them out in the bestfriends album! :)
after giving trish a surprise and wake-up call, we took a cab down to jalan kayu for a breakfast of prata and milo dinosaurs.
we were too bloated after that meal.
headed down to cine to catch the 11am movie...
warning: don't ever, ever watch turn left turn right.
it suck suck sucks shit!
i was cringing at the never-ending cascade of lame-o scenarios...
it was pure torture for me sitting through that movie.
after that super turn-off, hollywood homicide seemed a much better movie.
the beginning was pretty boring...though it ended off really well...
not fantastic or anything though.
after that we just walked around a little...took some neoprints...
then settled at lips for lunch.
i don't know if it's just me...but their teriyaki chicken sandwich came out quite gross.
anyhow, trish taught us how to play bridge and it totally rocks! :)
so now we finally have an alternative to daidee and mahjong...brilliant!
walked down to some plaza after, where a couple of them played some pool...
then mitch and i left at about 7.15pm.
dead beat now...
but i'm really glad cos it's trish's 15th bdae (yay! we're all 15 finally!), and also because we have an alternative to daidee and mahjong...:)
yes!
chow! :: i saw ur mr tan today!

10:09 p.m.
after lagging for close to a week, i finally caught pirates of the caribbean today. :)
haha...captain sparrow is definitely the highlight of the show...
he's so funny! and cute!
and dat's why i love johnny depp so much...savvy? :)
he and tim burton rock!
if only tim burton had directed this movie...then it'll be perfect.
anyhow, i'm really glad to have finally watched it...
and drunk my favourite purple pleasures smoothie at taka...
and bought the mambo poster and gizeh birkenstocks i've been eyeing for a looooong time. :)
if there's one thing that's going bad today, it's the hair splinter in my left index finger...
bloody thing's been embedded there for 2 days already...
tanny! u gotta help me pluck it out...

10:10 p.m.
today, having eaten a breadtalk hotchic bun, coffee bean caesar salad + chicken, hello panda biscuits, 3 seeds of durian and half a guava, i decided to go jogging to lessen my guilt.
u know those oral pictures depicting scenarios we were required to describe in pri sch...
more commonly those scenes in the park...
well, they actually do exist.
i was on my usual route round the amk west park...down the length of bishan park...once around my sch building...back to one round of e amk west park...
and i encounted all those commonplace situations.
i saw senior citizens playing weiqi...
women walking their dogs...
teens rollerblading...
men jogging their butts off...
elderly folk congregating for some taiqi...
then, i commited the most cliche of all...
i helped an old man cross the road.
mind you, he was a typically good ol' hunchbacked, walking-stick-yielding, white-haired elderly man.
if we still took hao gong ming, this incident would fit nicely into my good deeds log book; like those we kept in primary sch.
haha! :)
.....
nobody said it was easy
oh it's such a shame for us to part
nobody said it was easy
no one ever said it would be so hard
i'm going back to the start

09:50 p.m.
saw this quiz on trishie's blog...

My inner child is ten years old!
The adult world is pretty irrelevant to me. Whether
I'm off on my bicycle (or pony) exploring, lost
in a good book, or giggling with my best
friend, I live in a world apart, one full of
adventure and wonder and other stuff adults
don't understand.
How Old is Your Inner Child?
newae, my mouth reeks of durian now...
yummy!

01:06 p.m.
i have made prodigious discoveries.
1) the exam schedules (doesn't the very mention of it get u shuddering) are officially out, indicating the start of mugging season.
isn't that heartening to note.
2) i currently owe 4 six-hour-long-to-write-cos-i'm-a-slow-poke english assignments:
(a) the world vision competition essay about children in 3rd-world countries
(b) my agumentative writing graded assigment
(c) a poem for this year's connexio publication
(d) ms tsw's geog graded assignments - they must never be overlooked
chip-chop slish-slosh...gotta hand them all in by the end of these "hols".
bummer.
Homework! Oh, homework!
I hate you! You stink!
I wish I could wash you
Away in the sink.
If only a bomb
Would explode you to bits.
Homework! Oh, homework!
You're giving me fits.
I'd rather take baths
With a man-eating shark,
Or wrestle a lion
Alone in the dark.
Eat spinach and liver,
Pet ten porcupines,
Than tackle the homework
My teacher assigns.
Homework! Oh, homework!
You're last on my list,
I simply can't see
Why you even exist.
If you just disappeared
It would tickle me pink.
Homework! Oh, homework!
I hate you! You stink!
Jack Pretlusky
that poem was by one of my 2 favourite children poets, the other being bruce lansky. :)
alright then, gotta rush down to bugis for biology tuition now...
chip-chop slish-slosh off i go...

11:18 p.m.
today's been an absurdly freezing cold day.
it began early in the morning on my way to suntec, with the car air-conditioner blasting right into my face...
the dreaded thing was either too hot or too cold, so i lived with the latter throughout the journey.
joined mitch and sab for service at the new creation church - my first time ever attending a christian service.
the band was pretty good, the preacher highly amusing, and the audience waaaaay more enthusiastic than what i'm used to.
i believe some people sleep when my priest preaches.
newae, the aditorium was intensely cold for a full 2hrs.
we rushed out once service was over to be on time for the play we had to catch with ld at the esplanade - the forbidden city: a portrait of an empress.
i thoroughly enjoyed the musical with its vibrant mix of wit, humour, song and depth...though the chilly air kept me on the edge of my seat - literally.
also maybe because we were occupying the cheapest seats in the house, located waaaaay at the back, and i was leaning against the rail infront of me to catch a closer glimpse.
hossan leong did this mean portrayal as one-half of a duo of effeminate record keepers in the palace...
he was undoubtedly humourous!
i think i laughed quite loudly...:)
after the play, sab, mitch, sarah and i went over to maxbrenner's chocolate bar for our dinner, and sat under the crisp billows of frigid wind portruding from the air-conditioner above us.
it was so wickedly cold, i ordered a warm venezuela dark chocolate drink to heat things up a little.
it was yummy btw!
also, we went to sagesse: the object shop where i scoured for this particular ring...
but didn't manage to find.
either way, the refreshingly zealous shop owner kept us entertained.
he's really quite nice to entertain kids like us, who probably wouldn't buy anything too expensive newae.
really jovial guy. :)
on my way home with sarah, the cuttingly cold air-con was irritating me as i tried to stop fidgeting...
my whole body was evidently numb by the time i reached my stop.
i hadn't managed to thaw by the time i reached the bus exit, and awkwardly clunked down the steps stiffly...
inevitably, i tripped and knocked into the indian lady before me.
it was tense moment as i tried to keep my balance, while quickly mouthing an apology, before hobbling away.
to top it all off, i forgot to scan my ez-link.
stupid air-conditioners...
i'm definitely doing without them tonight.

12:49 a.m.
as my dependable image host has been encountering complications in recent weeks, i have not been able to host images on this webpage.
and so this bright and cheery quiz, to add some colour on this otherwise mundane stylesheet...:)

congratulations. you are the kiss my ass happy
bunny. you don't care about anyone or anything.
you must be so proud.
which happy bunny are you?
lame and time-consuming...but a cheap-thrill...:)
the sec 3s went for the rsaf openhouse exhibition on fri for our annual ne trip...
it was better than i expected.
took lotsa class grp photos in the planes and stuff...unfortunately the interior was quite dim and so the photos didn't come out too well.
but it was fun!
we played...walked...talked...
and ate this yummy chicken burrito-like crepe thingie...we must sell this during next yr's fnf fair, yeah swei?
miss chua took us to a far end away from the crowd where we watched the planes take off...
dat's where i met feli and agri!
haven't seen them for so long...
they still look the same, just waaaay taller. :)
their bus was infront of mine and we kept waving at each other for the whole 4km stretch of that bumpy-lift-us-off-our-butts road...damn spastic.
i think the bus driver was thinking 'what the hell are those 2 girls waving for from the bus ahead'...
cos he was smirking with raised eyebrows...
in the evening, sab and i bought ingredients to bake this delightfully moist chocolate cake for our math tuition teacher as a celebratory gesture for a belated teachers' day.
i stayed over at her place specially to bake this cake!
and it was all worth the effort, cos ms choo loved it. :)
it's nicely rich, moist in the right consistency, basically for chocoholics...though maybe a tad too sweet and almond-ny.
my fault i guess...cos i put too much almond extract (vanilla would have worked better), hershey's choco sauce and icing sugar.
but it's goooood all the same! :)
there was this baby python in a tiny tank belonging to sab's bro that got me the closest i've ever been to a snake...
it was amusing more than anything, considering it didn't gobble up any frogs, and allowed one to sit on its body...
it looked really awkward, but the theory that they're friends isn't very convincing.
ahhh i'm not in the least bit tired now, probably from the deep snooze i got last night...
slept so well, think i drooled...
but also hyped from all that sugar intake from our glorious choco cake...:)
yes, i'm quite proud of it.
meiyan! :: i'm planning to steal all ur rsaf photos...so hurry post them!
thanks. :)

09:45 p.m.
i can't believe mrs soh managed to run through the math syllabus with such unfathomable speed.
we've completed the entire emath and amath texts for this year.
woohoo! :)
lynette!
thank you for buying the class so much stuff from macau! :)
the flosss biscuits were really good...rated yummy.
and i love my elmo file. :)
thankyou!

11:29 p.m.
today is the st-nicks-on-hiatus day. :)
only we get a holiday!
but i still had to wake up really early in the morning to rush on math hmwk...
was it me or was the day freezing cold?
headed down to sab's house, whereby her mum fetched us to our tutor's place.
after that, we went back to sab's and did nothing but play...
played sims, played sarah's car puzzle...
basically just played and played my holiday away.
i think my eyes are about to pop out of their sockets...
been staring at the monitor for hours...
i really shouldn't be straining them like this.
but sims is so addictive!
nvm...i can always do the eye excercise. :)
wasted my day away playing yesterday too...
met up with mitch, sarah, sab and tanny for dim sum at crystal jade, watched a movie...
then played and played mahjong at mitch's house until 11 something...
i think the cab driver who took us home was such a nice guy.
not only did he not charge us e midnight rates, he gave a discount to top it all off!
somehow, taxi drivers seem all the more friendlier at night. :)

09:05 p.m.
a love i never had
she found a love she never thought she'd ever have to lose
he made her pay his gambling debts, and all the drugs and booze
they had their happy instances, and many days of bliss
she never doubted once that passion did not yet exist
but days had turned to weeks, and months had turned to years
she feared their love was dwindling; she feared he wasn't hers
she bottled all her feelings up and he tried to evade
the three words she was waiting for that he had never said
and so the drift between them slowly widened day by day
she didn't understand him, and he wouldn't convey
he left and took a different route, leaving her confused
at only sixteen years of age, she'd already been bruised
he started dating every girl his lecher eyes laid on
but she was still too blind to see he was nothing more than brawn
she wrote him many poems, and letters of concern
she wished she knew how she'd lost him and when he would return
but she just couldn't understand that truth was harsh and sad -
that she couldn't lose a love she never had.
found this poem in my folder while clearing the computer system...
i remember writing it back in sec1. :)
nothing really significant happened today...
after mass, we went down to marmalade pantry at palais renaissance...then healthy planet at the forum.
dat's where i bought a couple of boxes of tea.
following that, we headed to zara where i bought a few tops...
spent the rest of the time stoning at borders.
i seriously think borders should provide more couches, benches - anything that will provide a seat for the patrons.
spent hours reading east of eden by john steinbeck...gd book!
so newae the staff said we couldn't sit on the floor...and every flat surface respectable enough to sit was taken.
i mean, do pple really hafta place their stacks of magazines on the benches too?
it pisses me off.
okae...gonna wash up and watch sleepy hollow later.
johnny depp! :)
p.s. chow! i finally bought the an-pan man from breadtalk...only to realise we don't have sch on mon and tue! shite. now i'm stuck with 3 an-pans...fattening! haha...seeya tmr newae. :)
