________give me back my point of view 'cause i just can't think for you.
Sunday, February 6, 2005
08:03 a.m.
just reached home.
i'm groggy and sleepy and am in need of sleep so i think i'll go to bed just about now.
feel like eating prata though. Monday, January 31, 2005
07:30 p.m.
i'm officially a pig and a half!
the sky is dark and i'm still sitting here eating pineapple tarts (yeah my grandmother did make them).
anyway, i miss cj.
i don't know why.
this doesn't bode well. Monday, January 31, 2005
05:52 p.m.
my grandmother's over at our place again.
did i mention she's learning mandarin with my 7 year old cousin's textbooks?
she's over 60, has never spoken mandarin in her life (typical peranakan) and is reciting the ke wen now.
i hope she brought her amazing pineapple tarts (slightly burnt around the edges because i like the pineapple hard and chewy). :D
anyhow, here's a really simple poem.
The Girl I Have Never Met
by Eric Lawrence Moberg
I love a girl,
Oh, so much.
I love her soft,
tender touch,
Her soft lips,
Beautiful eyes
Glistening off
The morning sunrise.
We watch the sunrise
And the sunset.
But this girl
I've never met.
In my dreams
She is so real.
It's just the way
She makes me feel.
If I could meet
A girl like this,
Her every move
I would not miss.
This girl would be,
Oh, so sweet
Holding my hand,
Walking down the street.
She could tell me she loves me
In front of her friends,
Saying what we have
Will never end.
But if it does,
We'll stay together
Just as friends
Always and forever.
This is the girl
I want forever.
If you can find her,
Tell her...I love her.
speaking of the sunrise and whatnot, i'm waiting for the sun to set so that i can go out jogging.
my stamina is zilch right now.
oh yes, i didn't go to school today and ended up changing my passport photo down at the ica building in lavender.
of all the exciting things one does on a day of skipping school, i think i beat them all.
i wouldn't have been in this fix if the blasted malaysian immigation guys didn't plaster on my passport the words 'to change photo' just because they think i don't look anything like my 12 year old self.
and seeing that the chinese new year is dawning (imminent trip to malaysia for visiting), i have to get it done by february the 9th or i'd be stuck in singapore sans the ringgit hongbaos.
and good food.
and everything jolly that chinese new year entails.
okay, i'm done for now.
jogging time. :) Saturday, January 29, 2005
01:45 p.m.
my pe teacher, mr issac lim, is as fit as he is corny.
i've not seen him eat anything other than fruits or drink anything but fresh juice.
his jokes are a little like ms oh's.
but having them come from a guy as serious as mr lim makes it that much funnier.
his lessons are like odac sessions, biology class and self-help seminars rolled into one.
i kinda like pe. :)
while we're on the topic of exercise, i must mention that i'm almost certain my menses is going to fall this wednesday - the day of our cross-country run.
why?
because i'm unlucky like that.
okay, i'm off to to sarkies road for now.
till then. Monday, January 24, 2005
11:13 p.m.
i've been eating so much it's not even funny.
just today...
strawberry yoghurt drink
tomyum fish noodle
jumbo cup of yami yoghurt
chilli crab burger
mango
cornetto ice cream
tomato and egg sandwich
chewing gum to keep me awake.
all yummy, but still.
:D Saturday, January 22, 2005
07:00 p.m.
i'm at tanny's place right now.
the 4 of us just played loads of mahjong...
i'm quite, quite satisfied. :)
we're going to serangoon gardens for dinner soon so i think i'll end here.
till then. Friday, January 21, 2005
11:47 p.m.
the most traumatic thing happened to me.
my computer crashed and the hard drive is now void of any storage material.
i feel so empty...
like my hard drive (haha).
and as if losing my written documents wasn't enough, i also lost all the photos i've uploaded in the past 6 months.
aaeerrgghh.
i don't even want to stay at home and face the computer anymore.
that's why i have been going out everyday and coming online much less often.
it's just too depressing.
i don't mind misplacing things, but knowing that it's vanished from the face of this earth for good is a whole different story altogether.
aaeerrgghh.
i'm using my dad's computer now anyway.
on to other things, school is getting progressively better (and much more fun).
i actually enjoy the pe now.
we walked through a pitch-black drain of spiderwebs and bat poo, climbed over the school gate, and completed the 2.4km run this week...
so let's hope it only gets more exciting. :D
i'm getting quite sick of the food at far east plaza and scotts foodcourt.
even yami yoghurt seems less appealing.
oh but i do like the tomyam fish noodles in our canteen.
it's the stall with the shortest queue too so i kinda eat that everyday.
haha.
i really love geography but i can't help dozing off during the lectures/tutorials.
i think it's in my nature to sleep during geography - a habit most probably cultivated back in secondary school when candice and i would sleep at every single geography class.
i absolutely cannot help myself.
just yesterday, i dropped my highlighter while nodding off and woke up to find neon blue chicken scratches all over my notes.
this is reminiscient of the upper-secondary days when spidery scrawls all over my paper were abound - evidence of my drifting off to sleep.
i ought to buy some sour spray or mint sweets to keep me awake.
well our first-ever common test (is that what it's called) will be held this monday and i'm somewhat excited.
strange, because i dread tests when it comes to geography, but i am kinda looking forward to this one. :)
i have absolutely no mood to memorise case studies and statistics though...
all from our friendly geofile articles.
haha.
okay, i'm off to have supper.
happy holidays all. Saturday, January 15, 2005
11:39 p.m.
maybe i should mention a little more about school.
my form tutors are nice ladies who make quite the enthusiastic duo.
ms lim teaches geography and ms wong (the gp teacher who strangely doesn't teach us) assists her.
they're awfully particular about ankle socks but pretty fine other than that.
ms tan takes us for economics tutorials and she's a walking joke to say the least.
everything from her articulation to her walk to her clothes are hilarious, but she's a pleasant lady so i try not to be mean.
i wish she wouldn't speak so quickly though, because it really doesn't aid in her diction.
haha.
i ought to like ms chua, our literature and gp teacher, because she takes us for 2 of my favourite subjects.
she seems nice enough so far.
she happens to be a lector at ihm too, so i expect we'll meet in church sooner or later.
we already partnered once last year.
hmmm.
the mathematics teacher has insanely thick specatacles that magnify her eyeballs ala edna mode.
she even has the whole bob-hair-and-rapid-step-walk thing going on.
funny lady.
ms lim, mr goh and ms ng take my class for geography tutorials on a rotational basis and they're all awesome teachers.
lots of talk on the tsunami during lessons...
very interesting.
the same can't be said for the pe teachers though, because i find them plain weird.
like, why do they speak in that weird military-esque manner of speech, putting awkward stresses at the oddest places in a sentence?
and there are exercises with names like GST: grandstand torture.
creativity aye.
the chinese departmental head teaches us mandarin and isn't in the least bit nasty.
not that i was expecting her to be detestable, but i'm quite surprised that none of my teachers are tyrannically fierce or domineering or anything like that.
mr fahy, a literature lecturer, is worth a mention too, because he is really one of the more interesting teachers around.
i get all jittery during his class because it seems as if he's going to pounce on anyone at any moment, but i do love his dramatics so yes, it's all good.
in fact, i think it's the whole "arts faculty" thing that makes the teachers here that much more gripping.
and the subjects more fascinating, obviously.
i can't imagine how dull lectures on hard facts and formulas would be in the science faculty.
or maybe i'm just biased.

09:24 p.m.
so we finally met up, didn't we.
jan and chow crashed cj today and attended my econs lecture.
after that, we joined swei, charm and tanny for lunch/dinner...
thus encapsulating our long-overdue meeting.
no bridge this time though, just purely catching up.
school has been really draining both mentally and physically so much so i completely knock out on those bus rides home.
it's a wonder how i wake up in time to alight.
yesterday, sab, mitch and i skipped school to check out vjc and attend chaiping and trish's history lecture.
i felt so so out of place having not done history since sec 2 and with absolutely no interest in the subject.
but i did learn a bit about the french revolution.
haha.
then jan joined us for lunch at the vjc canteen.
they sell ben&jerry's by the way.
i'm awfully glad it's the weekend, indicating no early mornings or sluggish rides down the busy bukit timah road.
and thank goodness for the 5-day week, because i do need these 2 days quite badly.
i have so many things to get done.
so for now, i'm off until...
until i have something more to say.
i miss st nicks so bad. Sunday, January 9, 2005
09:22 p.m.
i can't take it anymore.
i really miss the BBC.
jc tears people apart.
somewhat. Sunday, January 9, 2005
09:01 p.m.
i'm dead tired now but for a quick update, i had roti prata for the first time in a long while. :)
that was after church this morning, which was followed by some stationery shopping with charm and tanny for school (whoohoo need i repeat that lectures begin tomorrow).
anyway, i rushed home from town for an evening jog with the church people and happened to meet chengying at serangoon stadium too.
it was nice catching up. :)
we jogged and talked about our jcs...
and hwachong seems so much fun according to her.
i was especially amused by the surprisingly gentlemanly ways of tchs boys. :D
and i also very much want to crash acjc, which brendan insists is supremely fun.
and also nyjc which jan keeps gushing about.
oh, and i went to martina's place earlier on to give her some donuts i bought but she wasn't in.
i'm off to shower now anyhow.
candice and i are meeting at 7am in cj tomorrow for a light morning jog.
i really must build up some form of stamina as it's pretty much non-existant at this moment.
that can't be good, since i'm intending to pick up a new sport soon. ;) Sunday, January 9, 2005
12:08 a.m.
i'd love to list all the things i dearly miss (st nicks, to name one) but it'll be too long and depressing a task so i'll just leave it for now.
orientation ended the moment we left the esplanade yesterday night and lessons commence proper on monday.
i honestly can't wait. :)
i do hope the lectures halls aren't too cold though, because i literally freeze up and shiver under low temperatures.
scotts foodcourt has been our dinner place everyday for the past week and i've made it my mission to try every single stall there.
by the end of 3 months.
hopefully.
this morning, i dropped by st nicks to have my favourite teh tarik, check out the newly painted walls (imagine green and pink side by side) and meet charm and jan at the cyber cafe to catch up.
i missed the place so bad!
mrs soh wasn't around to pass me my testimonial though so i guess i'll have to go back soon.
charm later got a haircut at tanglin and i've just got home from mitch's place where sab, tanny and i were playing mahjong.
on a note of randomness, i kinda like the cj mass dance - thriller by michael jackson is a great song and the bhangra moves are just...
awesome.
haha.
very whimsical.
on another note of randomness, 3 taxis that i originally flagged down were stolen right under my nose today.
what are the odds.
do i not look like i'm hailing a taxi?
as a result of these...misfortunate encounters, i was late for pretty much every activity.
including the st nicks cca fair.
alright, i have mass tomorrow morning so i'd better get going.
i really do need to reset my body clock.
