anirak 2004.

Monday, April 4, 2005 10:58 p.m.

just got back from church!
anyway, school was quite interesting today.
i think the days can only get progressively better right now. :)
i do like my class.

after school, sab, mitch, trish, tanny, jiaying, wendy and i met in town for dinner.
then trish and i left for mass at risen christ.
the memorial service for the pope was so touching.
sigh.

okay, i've a long day of lectures tomorrow but it's always awesome looking forward to dinner at holland village.
spicy dumplings at crystal jade!
i like. :)

till then.

Sunday, April 3, 2005 09:25 p.m.

just got back from town.
i have blisters on my toes, if that's even possible.

went for mass this morning.
karol josef wojtyla aka pope john paul II
1920 - 2005

on a lighter note, i'm really glad cheryl tay won miss singapore universe.
nadia's sis!
good genes run in the family aye.

Saturday, April 2, 2005 06:50 p.m.

just got home from shopping with charm and tiff today.
i snagged awesome buys from dkny.
a denim jacket and tote bag for school.
but it's "hello brokesville!" again.

anyway, i'm supposed to come home and change out into an outfit for agrippina's formal birthday bash tonight but...
i have nothing to wear.
zilch.
and i haven't got her a birthday present either.
maybe i'll grab a box of godiva chocolates later.
there's a clubbing party at moloko in gallery hotel again later tonight too.
it'll be nice seeing cj people around.

but all i really want to do right now is bum around and play mahjong.
don't feel like raiding my closet for something presentable to wear.
argh.
i think i shall nap for a while.
okay i'm off.

Friday, April 1, 2005 11:07 p.m.

first day of school in sajc, post-orientation.
skipped the whole day of lectures to go out for lunch with my classmates.
i officially take 45 minutes to reach the harbourfront mrt station.
horrendously long journey, but at least there were empty seats in the train.

after our subway lunch, 4 of them left for sa to buy the uniform (sales are on today) so i went downtown to meet tanny.
shopped around and met up with sab and mitch later.
it's so nice catching up.
was also awesome bumping into people in orchard that i know will never be found in the far west of singapore, where my dear school is now not-so-conveniently located.

well, it's au revoir to the blue pinafore that i've adorned the past decade.
i wore it for the last time today.
do hope i never outgrow it...
both literally and metaphorically.

sigh.
don't think i will miss adjusting the pleats though. :)

Wednesday, March 30, 2005 09:29 p.m.

don't mess with the best 'cause the best don't mess.
don't fool with the cool 'cause the cool don't fool.

05A21. :)

Tuesday, March 29, 2005 10:18 p.m.

just got home!
anyway today was awesome fun. :)
met jiaying and wendy at the sajc bus stop (i promise i won't be late again) afterwhich we went down to telok blangah and chinatown to buy the sa shirts and skirts respectively.
then we waited for the tailor to alter our skirts while having lunch at people's park centre.
terrible food.

sab joined us and we went down to sentosa.
bumped into cj people, sat at new zealand's natural eating ice cream, and played mahjong with sab's mini set.
fun. :)
it was very relaxing sitting in the breeze playing my favourite game.
'cause we usually play mahjong in the stuffy indoors.

anyhoo, mitch joined us for dinner at sakae sushi in the evening afterwhich i left to meet my cj class at harbourfront shopping centre.
the new additions to the class are such nice people. :)
but they got ms lim as their form tutor again.
hmmm.
i haven't decided if that's a good or bad thing.

anyway, we went to macs in the basement after dinner and i bumped into 3 of my og mates - june, charlotte and natalyn.
all of them got their chosen subject combinations.
happy for them. :)

so everything's nice and dandy today because i met the people i miss a lot (especially belle and 1t03!), played mahjong, finally bought my sa uniform (the elastic band in the shirt is ingenious) and got the subject combination of my choice.
now, i'm just slightly anxious about meeting my new class tomorrow.
i hope they're a fun bunch.
okay i'm off to wash up.

Monday, March 28, 2005 08:55 p.m.

just got back from holland village!
i think that place will be our new hangout from now on.
good food (crystal jade dumplings today - whooot!) and lots of fine shopping.
plus, it's so accessible from sajc. :D

so technically our orientation programme hasn't started because the next 2 days are only the induction and instill components.
we had this hilarious talk about fashion sense and personal etiquette by a metrosexual guy who couldn't pronounce english words for nuts.
and he's obviously prejudiced against fat people.
haha.
but he was entertaining nonetheless.
then there was this other talk that i can't recall because we were literally sleeping through half of it with our heads on the desks, and the other half in the canteen having prata (the few of us ran out of the lecture theatre).
:)
i just received a message from my mgs friend melissa that acjc accepted her appeal.
so happy for her!
except i won't be seeing this girl around anymore.
and i haven't returned her the prata money i borrowed.
hmmm.
she was good company throughout the day. :)

anyhoo, we had physical games within the school compound today and i'm officially roasted.
like, glowing pink.
my nose and cheeks are red.
haha.
i'm not going to school tomorrow because wendy, jiaying, sab and i are going to shop for our uniforms then crash the cj orientation at sentosa.
can't wait!
my og's also having an outing at seoul garden in orchard at night.
i wonder if our classes will be out by tommorow.

alrighty, it's going to be a long day and i'm dead beat so till then...
hope i don't get further sunburnt in sentosa.
that'd be awful. =\

Sunday, March 27, 2005 10:47 p.m.

okay, i put the photo album links back up on the left.
the captions were done years ago so they're pretty cheesy.
haha.
there's nothing new in them though.
i've lots of new photos to upload but i'm pretty lazy so we'll see.
maybe i'll put them up some time next week.

anyway, i attended eater sunday mass this morning and bumped into brendan and brandon.
and saw mike basa after so long!
i think everyone grew.
must be the graduated-from-o-levels thing.
anyhoo, that was followed by lunch with the family then town with charm and tanny.
i finally bought something at kate spade to replace my missing wallet.
been using ziplock bags the past week.
i'm still quite sore about losing my old wallet but i guess i'll never get it back again so oh well, moving on.

i think i have a bag fetish.
spending extravagant amounts on shoes seems silly since we're literally stepping on them (thereby soiling and destroying them in the process) and clothes aren't as versatile as a bag so yeah, i do advocate investing in quality bags.
well, enough randomness.

i've a long-overdue appointment with my dentist but i'm refusing to go until i find a day i want to skip school.
that way, i can use my dental appointment as an excuse to absent myself.
in the meantime, i'm going to have to endure the slight toothache.
haha, that's quite random too.

alright, orientation starts tomorrow.
i'm quite excited.

and i hope my choppy lines gave the impression of speediness.
speaking in point form just sounds so incredibly frenetic. :)
randomness, again.

Saturday, March 26, 2005 10:33 p.m.

just got home!
after good friday service at church yesterday, i went downtown to meet mitch, sab, trish and tanny for dinner.
we shopped a little then headed to mitch's place for mahjong.
stayed over and played through the night.
such addicts.
we really should get help.

anyway, it was nice catching up and talking about school the past week.
we're all in different places (acjc, vjc, nyjc, sajc - all over singapore) but that won't matter because we're going to meet up a lot.
:)
after waking up at 1pm this afternoon, tanny and i went over to sab's place and slacked around eating good food.
aunty lilian is such a great cook.

anyhoo, it's easter sunday tomorrow with celebratory spirits all around so cheer up people, all who are feeling down.
there's lots to look forward to and as much as i hate change, i can't wait to try something new.

was just looking through mich ye's photo album of 1t03 during the first 3 months and we all look like such happy campers. :)
sucks knowing that over 2-thirds have left.
i'm going to visit cj as often as possible.
and from the number of days i've crashed their orientation, i'm already at a headstart.

Thursday, March 24, 2005 11:56 p.m.

whatever doubts i had about sajc literature are completely obliterated.
they've got the angus ross prize winner 2004, good statistics (88.7% As and Bs, nothing below a C) and are doing completely different textbooks from cj, including shakespeare's othello.
woohoo.
at least there's a shakespearean text.
but what really got me was a quote from my favourite movie dead poets' society that was flashed at the end of the lecture.

"We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering - these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love - these are what we stay alive for."

sweet.

and i crashed cj's orientation today.
after our early dismissal, we made our way down and met up with a lot of people over at good ol' cj.
bumped into brandon and tiffany after not seeing them in quite a while (i've not been attending mass at ihm) so that was especially nice. :)

went to tanny's place for mahjong with chow and swei afterwards and i'm utterly shagged right now.
thank goodness it's a public holiday tomorrow.

God bless all.

Thursday, March 24, 2005 01:10 a.m.

first day at sajc was alright.
administrative stuff.
can't comment much...
although the principal does remind me a little of xiaozhang, and the air freshener used is the same as the one in st nicks.
haha.
jiaying noticed the familiar scent.
anyhoo, nicholas showed me around the school in the morning so i didn't feel too lost.
roamed around the place with wendy, hweeying, jiaying, stephanie, kristine koh and friend, although frankly there wasn't much to explore.
can't wait to move into the new campus next year.
it's definitely going to look much prettier.

and i've decided on geog, econs and lit.
no surprise there.

wendy, hweeying, jiaying and i left for cj after dismissal and took a supremely long bus journey.
i can already see myself sleeping on bus rides home in the future since sajc is so far-flung (i still don't know exactly where it's located).

anyway, it was nice seeing familiar faces again back in cj. :D
the new intake looks fun.
and the uniform's slightly different this year.
strange tinge of green in the blue and an entra pleat.
and somehow, the j1s look so much older when they've got the uniforms on.
hmmm.

belle and i went downtown with junyi, dora and jiaying for lunch after that, followed by a mini class gathering with the rest of 1t03 at wheelock place.
we all sat at coffee bean and gossiped for hours.
i'm going to miss them so bad.
they made studying that much more bearable.
had dinner at some restaurant in far east and voila, i'm home.

okay, let's hope tomorrow will be slightly more interesting and not so damn hot.
the weather is killing me, seriously.
and i realise that sa doesn't spoon feed like cj so i'm going to be pretty much on my own.
independent study.
oh my my.
that's st nicks' favourite teaching method.

Tuesday, March 22, 2005 11:16 p.m.

it seems as if no one is truly satisfied at this point.
most of us are terribly troubled in our situations.
half the world out there must be waiting by the phone, hoping ardently that the appeals made will be a success.
i know i made sajc my choice but i might try appealing back to cj tomorrow.
why?
because i miss it already.

this is so ironic.

anyway, i just got back from serangoon gardens.
my favourite hokkien mee stall was closed.
such a bummer.
haha.

Tuesday, March 22, 2005 05:43 p.m.

st andrew's junior college.
i'm neither happy nor sad, partly because i expected this.

met ms lim (my form tutor) just now while accompanying my friends who were appealing into cj and she flashed me a major fake smile.
argh.
i know they're against traitors and the other two christ-centred colleges but seriously.
she's so mean sometimes.
so maybe i've been skipping her geography lectures and tutorials since week 5 of the term...
so maybe i've been smsing her lies about my tummy aching and all that to get out of school...
so maybe she got cheesed off once when i was messaging in class and almost got my phone confiscated.
but she needn't be that nasty right.
tsk.

went for a class outing with the girls earlier on - nadia, winnie, michelle, julia, cassandra, angeline and myself - just catching a movie, taking lots of photos and having lunch.
we're planning another one for tomorrow so that they can gossip all about the 2nd intake students in cj. :)
and those of us leaving for other jcs may compare too.
most of my classmates in the first 3 months are staying on in our subject combination so i really hope they're posted to the same class.
1t03 rocks afterall. :)

okay, i'm leaving for dinner at serangoon gardens with shuwei and company later.
can't wait!
if only i had my wallet back though.
then i wouldn't have to budget so much.

Monday, March 21, 2005 10:19 p.m.

i lost my wallet.
boohoo.
was at an all-time low realising that all my membership, library and identification cards are gone along with about 200 dollars in cash.
plus my ez-link and coffee bean card, both of which i just topped up. :(
no more pure vanillas, caesar salads or cheap transport for me.
argh.
and i was hoping against hope that some kind soul would return it.
still am.
please, whoever, don't be so mean to me.
i'm damn unlucky i swear.
thanks to everyone who treated me - food, transport, everything. :)
but i guess it's back to expensive transport for now.
bummer.
i must pray for a miracle this time.

Sunday, March 20, 2005 10:46 p.m.

just got home!
here's a very very happy 17th birthday to you, sabbie webbie. :)
she hates the name.

mitch, sab, jiaying, tanny and i played mahjong the whole of yesterday followed by supper at serangoon gardens.
i do love hokkien mee and chin chow, i do i do.
then it was back to sab's place for a movie marathon and sleepover.
we do the same stuff everytime but it never gets boring...
and somehow, we always doze off at 6am sharp.
it's when our bodies start shutting down.
anyway, sab the light sleeper woke us up early at noon the next day for lunch, afterwhich we lazed about watching eurotrip and cold mountain (sad sad show) before wendy and doreen popped by to cut the birthday cake.
i'm really zonked right now from the immense lack of sleep but i'm highly anticipating school tomorrow because i miss my class quite a bit.

yupp.
okay i should be off to wash up.
later.

Saturday, March 19, 2005 03:15 a.m.

this is going to be an entry with run-on lines since i'm all hyped up from the immense enthusiasm i have for the holidays and so please bear with me.
let's see.

thursday morning.
i went for some pure, unadulterated shopping with charm dearest (i say this because she lent me 40 dollars and also got us manicures), whereby we walked/shopped/ate our way from rafflescity all the way to orchard road.
allow some airheadedness here, but the sales really do bring about ecstatic frenzy in girls on a shopping high.
i do love shopping with charm. :)
i've recently drawn up a new want-list but i doubt i'll get through it any time soon.
it's just therapeutic for me to list.
listing always invigorates me.
haha.

anyway, i've got short black manicured nails that i sometimes mistake for insects scuttling past me when i happen to glance at them from the corner of my eye.
clearly, i'm still not used to them.
they're chipping from my rough-handedness but oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
charm got blood red nails.
femme fatale, i swear.

both of us went home in the evening afterwhich i changed out and went down to orchard to meet freda, tanny, mitch, sab, jolene and a few other cj people.
had dinner in takashimaya then cabbed over to gallery hotel to attend a party at cocolatte.
note: never wear suede stilettos to dance.

after the whole thing, we cabbed down to mitch's place where we had yet another stayover with the usual long shower, kitchen supper, bridge, singalong-to-the-music-playlist, gossip sharing and love game regime. :)
lalala.
woke up a few hours later at noon and had a yummy prata lunch at thomson.
woohoo, prata, i like.
we went over to jiaying's house after that for mahjong, had dinner in junction 8 while chatting the night away and voila, home again.

anyway, i am nursing the mother of all sorethroats with my extremely heaty diet of prata (the curry!), milo dinosaurs (plural because i had many), mango juice and durian which my mum bought so yeah, this doesn't bode well for my health at all.
also considering the fact that my body clock is screwed...
i feel very unadjusted indeed.

pardon the erratic post but it's late.
i'm going to get some shut-eye now for the weekend ahead!
i say all j1s should cram their holidays with fun before it's back to school faster than we can say 'JAE'.
gasp.
i'd rather not think about it.

enjoy the weekend, all.

Wednesday, March 16, 2005 12:43 a.m.

Q. What is the origin of the word fuck?
A. It is remotely derived from the Latin futuere and Old German ficken/fucken.

Originally, this was quite an acceptable word. It was recorded in a dictionary in 1598 (John Florio's A World of Words). It is remotely derived from the Latin futuere and Old German ficken/fucken meaning 'to strike or penetrate', which had the slang meaning 'to copulate'. Eric Partridge, a famous etymologist, said that the German word was related to the Latin words for pugilist, puncture, and prick. The word, which entered English in the late 15th century, became more rare in print in the 18th century when it came to be regarded as vulgar. It was even banned from the Oxford English Dictionary. In 1960, Grove Press (in the US) won a court case permitting it to print the word legally for the first time in centuries -- in D.H. Lawrence's Lady Chatterley's Lover (written in 1928). One folk etymology, which is incorrect, is that it derives from "[booked] for unlawful carnal knowledge."

everyone loves
dictionary.com. :)

out all day with sab, mitch, tanny and jiaying.
fun!
go catch robots; mitch's brother worked on the film.
it's quite hilarious too.
haha.
anyway, it's more mahjong tomorrow.
awesome.
we've started to play with real money so it gets really heart-wrenching at times.
but it also gives this unexpected high when you get a tile that slots it just perfectly.
can't wait. :)

Saturday, March 12, 2005 11:19 p.m.

rockafellaskank went by in a flash.
i wish cheryl sang the lead though.
she was clearly the better singer.
definitely much more than a back-up singer.

anyway, the group of us went down to newton circus for supper and had quite a bad experience.
let's see.

# someone openly said "st nicks girls are sluts".
thanks sore mister.
i bet you were once ditched by a st nicks girl.

# this tissue-selling guy came up to our table and said "my my, girls, if i were your parents, i'd be very concerned", tapping on his watch.
like come on, we're just hungry girls out for supper.
it's not like we were loitering around in the dead of the night or something.
tsk.

# we ordered food from all the wrong stalls.
the sambal stingray, hokkien mee and fruit juices weren't fantastic at all.
chomp chomp is officially the best.
even the hawkers are nicer people.

# we were on a tight budget of about 30 dollars among us.
imagine the scrimping and "do we have enough money for lime juice?"
plus, we only realised our lack of funds when the food came.
haha.

# i had 0.04 cents left in my ez-link card.
i don't even know how that's possible.
at least it wasn't a negative number.

# we didn't have enough money for transport.
had to resort to bothering our parents into fetching us home.

anyhoo, today got off to a better start.
pilates class is getting more intense.
jan, swei, charm, tanny and i went out the whole day and ate a whole lot.
we all conclude that we've put on weight.
this is bad.
i need the mass pe in term 2.

but for now, i'm off for some ben&jerry's in the fridge.
whoodedoop!
plus prata after mass tomorrow morning.
oh no, i need a new diet plan.
but let this week be my pigging-out holiday...
for i detox soon. :)

Thursday, March 10, 2005 10:44 p.m.

just got home from prata supper with charm, jon, alex, selene, ah boon, hanhui, ashley and herman.
i feel like having another mug of milo dinosaur. :)

i can't believe tomorrow is the last day of term one.
doubt i'll be attending any lectures or tutorials though.
no one is in the mood these days.
we'll probably just play at the grandstand and enjoy the breeze.

something i ought to bring up.
i hate it when people diss cj so don't do it in my face.
go ahead and start loving a jc where you have only superficial affections for because love for a place that is less desirable than most others always beats love for something that is easy to fall in love with in the very first place.
i don't understand how some people can be so ungrateful to a place that has tried its best to provide them with warmth and concern, if only to its utmost ability that maybe doesn't quite make the cut.
it is so wrong to keep biased views and maintain that double standard.
i just felt like saying all that because i do get extremely annoyed when people diss cj.
i've never found the place exceptionally awesome or anything like that, even though most of my family members have affiliations there (which is precisely why i didn't want to see myself there also), but it's a good place with good people nonetheless.
seriously, i hate it when people speak bad of cj.
you're entitled to individual opinions but don't criticize on baseless grounds!

okay, i could go on and on but i'm leaving it at that.
just thinking about it gets me irritated.
i'm off.

Wednesday, March 9, 2005 09:10 p.m.

okay, let's see.
i'm in a jolly good mood this evening and so i intend to do quite a bit of typing today.
in fact, i feel like playing belle's typing of the dead game.
damn fun.
type to defeat monsters.

anyhoo, first up, recap of monday.
it was the ultimate ponning session because i took a 4 hour break and headed down to orchard with belle, nicola and joanna to shop for a men's wallet.
every single one of them from ralph lauren to calvin klein to hugo boss and many many more (we pretty much walked all over town) looked the same to me - slim, black, leather.
but we still took pretty long to choose the perfect one.
haha.

yesterday.
i attended morning assembly purely for attendance then went up to class for our ne lesson on decision-making (seriously)...
afterwhich sab, jiaying and i sneaked out of school for prata down at good old thomson.
we then took a long walk to jiaying's place for many rounds of mahjong (and a 4 hour nap).
mitch joined us as the 4th kaki and i won quite a bit. :)
as i always say, fengshui counts.

chow, charm, tanny and i later met at serangoon garden for supper at chomp chomp and dessert at icecube.
played bridge until 11pm before heading home.
i'm going to have to go back to that shop soon because i left my pouch there.
oh well, all the better.
more opportunity to eat their yummy ice cream.

school was as school always is.
finally, today, all 6 of us including jan, chow, swei, charm, tanny and myself managed to get together at the mango shop for bridge and a whole lot of mango dessert.
i'm really stuffed with food right now.
the last straw was that sinful häagen-dazs fondue charm and i shared.
i got so bloated, i didn't even feel like talking in case something fell out.
but hearing jan make yet another pronunciation mistake was the highlight.
sorbet. :)

alright, i migh as well continue with some empty trash talk.
i feel like doing some shopping once i save up enough for a little spree.

# a tote bag for school (i'm so sick and tired of my skirt riding up because of the satchel).
# the beaded accessory stuff i saw at tangs today.
they're awesome cute.
# clothes from baylene (i received an sms from the shop - 30% discount storewide).
i cannot allow myself to miss this.
# a haircut!
i cannot emphasise enough how badly i need this.
i look like a crackpot with my unruly hair all bunned up.
tsk.
# socks (spotted holes in some of them; i really should trim my toenails).

wow, i sound quite unkempt.
but i reckon it'll be a long time before i save up enough to go shopping, what with the high expenditure i've adopted recently - food is expensive.
especially when town is just round the corner and it's so easy to pop by to grab a bite.
plus, we've been relying on taxis quite a bit.
i shall have to curb my spending by...
restricting myself to 3 dollars a day, maybe.

so, cj's rockafellaskank concert is on this friday and it ought to be good.
can't wait.
i hear cheryl's going to sing.
if she can recreate the scenario on graduation night when mr wong and her got numerous shouts of encore for their duet, i bet people will be impressed. :)
i suspect it'll be a mini gathering of st nicks girls down to support.
yay!

okay i'm off for now.
that's enough randomness for today.

oh heck, i might as well throw this in.
i love franz ferdinand!
right, cable tv calls.
