10:40 p.m.
hurricane katrina.
what an incredibly sexy name aye.
i've been reading all sorts of reports about it and i do hope the death toll ceases to increase...
anyway!
hooray to nine days of school-less-ness and boo to all the studying that's to be done.
i'm not a fan of pseudo-holidays, thank you very much.
picking up from where i left off...
thursday was morning tuition with ms giam then a chicken rice lunch in town.
that was followed by a mini party at genna's place all the way down at cluny road.
the road seemed to go on forever 'cause it was scorching hot and we had to walk up...
but a yummy catered buffet and this delish chocolate cake baked by kelly greeted us, so all was good. :)
genna's acjc friends were over too, and everyone just sat around eating, talking, taking photos and lazing about.
very enjoyable indeedy-do!
genna's off to europe (milan and paris - shopping trip) now that lucky duck.
will miss her a lot.
today was our usual term-end class picnic afterwhich we played truth-or-truth.
found out more stuff about my classmates. :)
and some of our dubious lesbian tendencies...
hoho.
well, moving on.
met charm in town and i finally bought my pee-wee herman shirt.
i must say, rediscovering paul reubens has been very fulfilling indeed.
i now know why his show, pee-wee's playhouse, was taken off-air for example.
that show used to be a staple in my daily agenda for all of four years before they suddenly replaced it...
it's moulded me, indeedy do.
okay i should be off now.
we have to be in st nicks at 9am tomorrow despite it being a saturday/school holiday/my sleep-in day.
utterly blasphemous, this disruption of my usually non-existant saturday morning...
but it should be fun going back to st nicks.
am looking forward to the weekend.
till then!

11:03 p.m.
it feels sooooo good hugging ms jeya and ms chua.
they're two of my favourite teachers in st nicks.
one year from now, i don't see myself loving the teachers in college that much.
mr foo is just as candid (we're going to thailand together at the end of the year!) and mrs tan was with her usual grin.
mrs soh was nowhere to be seen and ms lim looked just as pretty (she won ms eyecandy this year too).
we caught up with mrs chua and the other mrs tan too.
i suppose i saw everyone i wanted to see.
teachers who remember your name are the teachers who really care.
it's a nice feeling when you're remembered; i think teachers feel that way too.
it was also awesome meeting up with old friends.
i do miss my old classmates; seeing muthu, dragon and bird (guoyuan, sarah and elizabeth), for instance, was really nice.
tomorrow, charm and i are going to do a little something for ms giam in the morning.
i hope she likes it.
it's a bittersweet feeling you get, going back to st nicks.
on one hand, the familiar faces and warm hugs are sweet...
they're altogether irreplacable.
but on the other hand, the nostalgia hits you so hard especially when you know you're never going to get that life back.
it's a terrible feeling.
it's a bitter pill to swallow.
that's a decade of your life over.
teachers within the school come and go and it's painful how you lose contact with them.
like miss woon who i truly adored and tried so hard to impress...
i was primary 3 then.
i've snatches of memory detailing events in primary school and it's amazing how you can analyse them now with a slightly more matured mind and see that your reactions made in the past were really quite juvenile.
only now do i understand why the teachers did what they did and said what they said.
like, i miss mr soh and ms lian so much - my teachers when i was in primary 5.
they've long since left the school for greener pastures.
sadly, i don't think i'll ever make teaching my career.
i don't think i have the passion.
better not speak too soon though...
might jinx it.
wildly incoherent and disjointed, but that pretty much sums up my thoughts for today.
how was teachers' day for you?

09:18 p.m.
of late, i have been guzzling food like a prisoner of war.
take today as an example.
tiramisu
scrambled egg
two slices of pizza
teuscher chocolates
two scoops of berry sorbet
spicy crystal jade dumplings
duku (a whole kilo by myself)
philadelphia cream cheese + crackers
mango smoothie (mine and 3-quarts of charm's)
we originally wanted to pop by marmalade pantry for some sticky date toffee pudding (highly recommended; please do try it one day).
but the restaurant was closing so to satiate our sweet tooth, charm and i headed over to the nearby chocolatier instead.
the lady there described every liquer chocolate available in the shop and we walked out with a selection of truffles and liquid-centre chocolates.
we only had a few each so we sat at coffeebean and polished off the whole box.
some had bailey's, pear liquor, champagne and even a chewable fermented grape inside!
next time, if i'm feeling bummed out or anything, i think i'll just buy a whole box, stay home, read a book and pig out.
highly therapeutic.
okay i haven't studied the slightest bit this weekend and the guilt is setting in.
but until i finish my homework and project work stuff, i won't be able to properly hit the books without suffering a nagging feeling at the back of my head.
as proven during moral ed class on friday, my mind is easily preoccupied by externalities.
did you know?
my favourite television show as a child (now, too, if only they'd broadcast it on television) was pee-wee's playhouse.
naturally, the show was created by tim burton himself.
i found a shirt at far east plaza with a dancing pee-wee printed on it earlier today and this has made me a very happy girl indeed.
i'd love to meet other people who love pee-wee as much as i do...
it's not easy finding like-minded (read: weird) people these days.
case in point: charm and i are going to watch marquis de sade next month.
sadism at its pinnacle. :)

12:38 a.m.
few things make me as happy as receiving flying kisses from a little young boy.
paedophile instincts kicking in there.
so yesterday was a day in town with charm during which we promised ourselves to take on a healthier and more disciplined diet and exercise plan.
was quite traumatised when i could no longer fit into a pair of size PO a|x corduroy pants.
can't say the plan worked though...
i ate enough to feed a football team today.
sab, trish, tanny and i were in orchard to support mitch's busking stint outside takashimaya.
following that, the five of us left for lunch and some chitchatting.
bad news guys, i can't upload the photos and video clip record.
to sarah, i think you returned me the wrong sony usb port!
how now brown cow.

friday's pizza party in honour of kaixin's seventeenth birthday was the usual pseudo-surprise at our secret corner followed by some class photo-taking.
oh yes, i might be watching quidam next month which has got me all excited.
i remember the previous installment by cirque du soleil, alegrķa, which i found a tremendous delight...
i'm sure this'll be just as good.
now, to raise 139 dollars...

12:08 a.m.
today was good.
you'd think with classes up till 5.15pm followed by a gp enrichment talk that ended only at 7.15pm, school was destined for the merciless bore-inducement of a girl surviving on 3 hours of sleep.
but no.
inevitable were the classic moments of my nodding off disguised as pseudo-intelligent nods (not forgetting the chicken scratches all over my notes; hand gets out of control occasionally).
but thankfully the agenda was more interesting than that.
case in point: i didn't sleep a wink during the afterschool talk.
commendable, really.
but i account it to caffeine in my system and interest in the topic at hand; not entirely the speaker up there.
training yesterday was pretty awesome too.
we covered 6km and circuits - my left calf is slightly strained now but it's all in good fun.
am in desperate need to lose the recent cream-cheese-fetish flab.
i should get going.
this nagging sense of unproductiveness is getting to me.

09:37 p.m.
yesterday and today were rush-rush-rush cram-cram-cram anxiety attacks.
the digital photo shop lady knows me by name now...
i spent 3 hours there cropping and resizing digital images!
so then cut-paste-write-draw-colour and i was finally done.
hope swei likes the scrapbook.
then came today.
we'd been dreading it although the date has been postponed for half a year now...
and so swei's left for the states.
but i'll see her in los angeles at the end of the year so till then, stay peachy keen.

shanghai nights.

and thai sunshine.

where will the wind take us next?
i just realised that we switched hair lengths over the last couple of years.
anyhoo, sarah also left for the states this morning...
and here we are, incomplete once again.
i miss 05a21 but it's also back to the vigours of school tomorrow.
time to pick up - here i go.
Sunday, August 21, 2005
01:10 a.m.
i'm going to practice some careful blogging.
here goes.
concerning the fruit stall:
i suppose i'm a reasonably loyal customer of sajc's fruit stall, considering the fact that the only other beverage i buy on a daily basis is yakult from the other drink stall.
just yesterday, i had apple-orange juice during break, apple-orange-lime when school ended and soursop iceblended after training.
anyway, my point is, the nice uncle who takes orders and is always friendly with us has been missing in action the past few days.
apparently, he's suffered a stroke.
please pray for his recovery.
concerning the ipod:
i hear the full colour version for normal ipods is finally out.
perfect timing, really, because mine is beginning to spoil.

even the u2 version is in full colour now.
such a beauty!
concerning highlights:
highlights, as in highlights of the past couple of days.
thursday was an impromptu night at sarah's place where us girls gathered for some dinner in front of the television.
friday was training and dinner again with the same few.
we hit town for xiao long bao and yami yoghurt, among other things.
the yoghurt lady now cuts me off when i order.
i barely mention the flavour before she jumps in with a "jumbo cup with strawberry right".
and i saw her chuckling to herself when preparing my yami yoghurt today.
hmmm.
concerning today (saturday):
one of the most interesting days yet, with the good company of swei, charm, chow, lynette and tanny.
charm, swei and i met at macdonalds first (early enough for breakfast orders, yo) and proceeded up the familiar slope to good ol' (albeit colourful) st nicks.
the drink stall uncle gave us free drinks - they always do when there isn't a crowd.
after a nice stroll around the school, then bumping and exchanging numbers with chen laoshi (who was looking her usual flusterred self), we cabbed down to suntec city for the duck and hippo tour.
wowwie wowwie fun fun fun.
i don't think i've laughed so hard in a long time.
the tourguide was hilarious in the worst way possible.
we couldn't stop laughing at her...
i mean, her jokes were terrible.
but we learnt the catchy ducktour song and kept singing it throughout the day!
the ticket entitled us to a free hippo tour too so we sat on the topless bus and literally breezed through the ride.
our hair was flying all over the place.
took a great many photos which will be up promptly enough. :)
dropped off at orchard and filled our tummies with food again...
speaking of which, the result of my eating pattern recently (read: without restraint) was evident during weight-taking on st nicks' trusty weighing machine this morning.
we've all put on weight since.
tsk tsk.
and lynette met two of her swimer friends in borders today, including joscelin yeo who i almost didn't recognise.
they all have lean mean bodies characteristic of national swimmers.
rreeooww.
concerning supper:
i've been living off chocolate, orange juice and brie cheese (although i don't much like the rind and slice it off at every chance) in recent nights due to the huge stock of aforementioned in the house.
think 8 bars, 3 litre cartons and 5 packets respectively.
my mum happens to belief in bulk purchase.
concerning vogue:
i always look forward to the september issue because that's when the best fashion spreads are featured.
the magazine is twice its usual size with a comforting weight about it.
it's my distraction for tonight. :D
long day ahead.
adios for now.

10:55 p.m.
class ne trip to the central narcotics bureau turned out better than expected.
our q&a segment lasted over an hour; yes, we were quite the interested audience.
jo, cheryl, weiyan and i left for town afterwards.
yami yoghurt and twister fries - ooh la love!
and i won a bookprize today.
it's for this essay i wrote that my gp teacher submitted in to the organisers.
i think i might spend the borders giftcard on rachael yamagata or pretty notebooks.
i've an insatiable appetite for decadent paper.

07:59 p.m.
while locked out of the house last month (i often forget to bring my keys), my malay neighbour invited me into her house where i drank tea and took a nap.
this always happens.
except on that very fateful wednesday evening, she offered me the yummiest slab of chocolate i'd eaten in a long time.

cadbury dairy milk with real crunchie bits, 200g.
saw it in the supermarket just now...
and i currently have half a kilo in the fridge.
shall bring some to school if i don't forget. :D
edit: in regard to the blogging issue, i have but one hope; that the staff members trying to sort things out will do something about the teacher in question, whose incompetence evidently surpassed the tolerance of the students to the point of incurring such wrath.
surely such ire doesn't just come about without provocation?

09:04 p.m.
school!
economics test!
most probably flunking it!
bus ride with jien and weiyan!
off to cjc my wonderland!
met familiar faces!

including this one - michelle ye!
taken during the first 3 months!
mango ice-blend!
tour with sab, mitch and sarah!
off to island creamery!
three scoops of yummy icecream!
reached home!
immediately came online!
got hooked on the exclamation mark!
off to read now!

09:07 p.m.
friday's farewell for sheena (goodness, yet another departure) saw...

...some wall grafitti lovin'...

...a search for 21 white ribbons...

...farewell gifting...

...photo-taking...

...for yet another a21er going away.
first was genna.
next week will be swei's flight...
with sarah going back to the states on the same day.
thank god for technology.
Sunday, August 14, 2005
06:49 p.m.
okay i just woke up from a 4 hour nap.
been at swei's chalet the whole of yesterday and this morning followed by lectoring in church.
i sat on the wrong chair, took a wrong turn while walking down the podium and lapsed into a coughing fit just before reading.
i think it was the lack of sleep the past 26 hours.
swei's chalet was a blast.
mahjong (7 hours nonstop please), barbecue, a little drinking, photo-frenzying, bridge, ps2 (die, ninja, die!), catching the sunrise...
the usual.
but the best of all was meeting up with old friends. :)
i'll put up photos once the rest upload them.
for now, i need to do something about all the homework i owe...
and sarah's back in singapore!

09:50 p.m.
there comes a certain time each year
when people start to change.
they move into a different gear
they start to act all strange.
for girls they call it pms
a nasty state of mind.
depression leads to full on stress
or sadness of some kind.
the boys in their compliant state thus
lapse into the gloom.
a sombre silence blankets us
though most things still resume.
some draw up solo study plans
while others grab a buddy.
when chilling with your usual gang
it's usually to study.
this annual thing that once appears
entails much school-contempt.
this period comes but once a year
before the final exams.
i wrote this limerick on a whim in class...
because what do you know, the exams are here again.
there's this particular shadow that's cast over the weeks leading up to our end-of-years and i absolutely dread it.
i hope people aren't feeling too depressed over this period...
we certainly don't need more glumness rubbing off each other.
we're all in this together, so smile everyone! :D
Thursday, August 11, 2005
11:10 a.m.
i got detention today.
my first ever and i'm so annoyed.
it's one day before the parent-teacher meeting...
jittery jitters.
ate prata at suntec city this afternoon.
i love the curry...
nice and thick!
charm and i practically rolled our way to ms giam's because we stuffed ourselves with so much food.
chocolate croissant, hokkien mee, soursop juice, prata, yami yoghurt, twister fries, lychee icecream and chocolate for today.
yummy stuff.
i can't wait for tomorrow and the weekend.
with the class picnic and swei's chalet, there's sure to be good food!
:D
Wednesday, August 10, 2005
10:20 p.m.
charlie and the chocolate factory was awesome.
i loved everything about it...
except the oompa loompas which were rather unnerving.
i suppose i've always pictured them as cutesy characters from the book.
parted ways with weiyan and yiqin after the movie then headed down to bugis.
swei, charm, tanny and i just chilled out at ice monster where i ate a whole lot of fruit desserts...
they were so yummy.
i must go back again.
it was especially nice reminiscing about the sundays we used to spend in bugis last year. :)
tanny and i later took a bus down to sab's place where we studied a little and had dinner.
i'm so sleepy now but i can't afford to hit the sack just as yet...
there's so much to be done.
and homework beckons.
it's been a long weekend.
and sab, i left my ipod in your house.
Tuesday, August 9, 2005
11:15 p.m.
monday.
national day funfair - we made a profit!
genna dropped by to help out. :)
had performances going on in the hall afterwhich mitchel, weiyan and i went down to island creamery for a few scoops...
milo and teh tarik icecream for me!
went to orchard to check out lomography cameras.
bought a top and belt.
rushed home to change and pack for a sleepover.
dropped my stuff off at sab's place.
cabbed down to gotham penthouse with sab, freda and tanny.
coffee at tcc.
bumped into many people at clarke quay.
decided that the place was too packed and tickets too pricey (up from 13 to 24 dollars for girls).
charm joined us as we headed over to zouk instead.
free entry for the five of us; a saving grace especially because i was broke.
music was good up till 3.30am.
my turquoise shoes got black and sticky from all the dancing.
cigarette ash + puke + alcohol = dirty shoes
cabbed back to sab's and got into bed by 6am.
painfully battered feet.
tuesday.
woke up this afternoon to a delicious lunch of apple rice, chicken chop and soup!
good food is a promise at sab's house. :)
watched 50 first dates.
i know i'm slow.
dad sent me down to swei's place afterwhich charm and tanny joined in for an evening of bridge-ing, rootbeer-guzzling, chicken-drumlets-and-pizza-eating, ndp-watching and polaroid-photo-taking.
enthusiastically took part in the pledge-taking and anthem-singing too. :)
i love hanging out with them...
it's like living out the st nicks days all over again!
well i just got home and am super shagged.
i suppose it's time to settle down and properly hit the books after weeks of honeymooning.
sigh.
Sunday, August 7, 2005
07:37 p.m.
yesterday was schweeet.
picked up a few essentials from tangs and borders and caught up with the shop owners at retail therapy and laine's papeterie; all while waiting for sab and tanny to come down.
so then they reached town and we headed off to garden hotel to check in (tanny got us a free room).
met up with mitch, trish, freda, and dinah at butterfingers for supper later and walked over to newsroom bar.
after a lot of technical difficulties (refunding of tickets, tight security etc), the seven of us managed to sneak in without paying. :D
credit goes especially to belle who i was especially happy to see again; our little charade was damn fun!
haha.
met a lot of old schoolmates and random friends...
and at least the dance floor was relatively bigger this time.
flurry of activity. :)
well okay, i think many were drinking a bit too much too fast, 'cause drunken people were sprawled all over the place.
sab, mitch, trish, tanny and i went back to the hotel by 5am but i hardly slept at all.
just couldn't fall into deep sleep.
awoke for the continental breakfast then rushed down to church this morning.
my dad had the car repainted because it got scratched by pranksters...
tsk tsk.
and yupp, that's pretty much the weekend for you.
oh and i found these photos at weiyan's lifejournal.
taken at the esplanade a month ago!

i hope tomorrow's national day celebrations turn out to be a blast!
Friday, August 5, 2005
11:31 p.m.
i'm so happy now, nothing can get me down.
nothing nothing nothing.
go on, push me, i'll just bounce back.
haha okay, but i must say, this morning's events were pretty unfortunate.
one. i needed to pack my pe attire but was running late, so i grabbed an un-ironed shirt from the fresh laundry basket and accidentally took my sister's nanyang pe shorts instead of my own.
two. i forgot to bring weiyan's camera.
sorry girl.
three. got to school just as the anthem was ending and was marked late.
four. had to sit in the hall during civis under the blasting air-conditioner.
ppfftt.
okay, but things really looked up after that.
our deputy principal (i forgot her name! ms chia?) sat in during our geography tutorial with mr lim and gave our class a nice ego boost. :)
she's awesome.
just like ms jeya, except less lazy i should think.
ms jeya taught me literature during my upper secondary years and she was slack but oh-so-lovely.
and then and then and then and then, mr lim escorted us out of school, thereby allowing our class to leave the schoolgates at 11.45am.
damn thrilling please.
haha.
excuse me but i'm a little high tonight.
so then the class split into two and headed off to chinatown and holland village to shop for materials for the earrings we're going to sell on monday (national day fun fair!).
i think our class is as girly as it gets, but i love it that way. :)
so we sat on the floor in the bead shop and went dizzy counting button after button and bead after bead.
the weather certainly didn't help either...
i thought i was going to die of heat stroke walking back to school.
was contemplating skipping training but i'm so glad i didn't because it turned out pretty fun!
after the usual twelve rounds and conditioning, i went home with jiaying and kept her awake by chatting and gossiping and not allowing her to nap although she was damn sleepy.
muahahahaha.
and at thomson, this sour lemon (well actually this guy who just came from jogging at macritchie reservoir) boarded the bus and forced us into near-suffocation.
his body odour could curdle milk i swear.
and now i'm home with full knowledge that a huge häagen-dazs icecream cake sits in the freezer (that doesn't work, coincidentally).
now i wouldn't want to allow that cake to melt, would i.
got to save it from defrosting into a milkshake by the best way possible...
i'm off for a slice.
Thursday, August 4, 2005
10:31 p.m.
i think i might just turn this place into a webpage all about food!
'cause looking back, i'm always talking about the good stuff anyway...
so today, jo, sheena, corinne, weiyan, caroline, sangita and i went to ikea for hotdogs and icecream.
good and cheap always works. :)
right now, all i'm looking forward to is the long weekend ahead...
shopping trips, suntanning, newsroom bar, sleepovers, charlie and the chocolate factory, and not forgetting the very endearing studying that's on the agenda.
oh yes, i bumped into baylene the other day and she told me there's new stuff in her boutique.
must must must head down soon.
i've drawn up a whole list of addresses i want to visit, like ann siang road, 18 keong saik road, 5 mohammed sultan road, 44 club street and 47 haji lane.
quite random places, but they all promise good shopping for music, books, organic food and apparel!
okay, to end off this somewhat otiose entry...
here's my favourite song by nirvana.
we passed upon the stair, we spoke of was and when
although i wasn't there, he said i was his friend
which came as some surprise i spoke into his eyes
i thought you died alone, a long long time ago.
oh no, not me
i never lost control
you're face to face
with the man who sold the world.
go download it!

09:11 p.m.
today was great.
i think it was pms (that would be post-menstrual syndrome) acting up the past couple of days.
anyway, training was fun since i'm beginning to enjoy running again.
schoolwork is also more or less settled for now.
i mean, i'm not cramming till 3 in the morning anymore so that's a huge relief.
except...
there's a parent-teacher meeting next week and i really wonder how it'll turn out.
not too terrible i hope.

Tuesday, August 2, 2005
08:08 p.m.
had icecream and french fries at serene centre with corinne and weiyan.
we sure ate a lot. :)
had a bad day again
she said i would not understand
she left a note that said, "i'm sorry, i had a bad day again."
she spilled her coffee, broke her shoelace.
smeared the lipstick on her face.
slammed the door and said "i'm sorry, i had a bad day again."
and she swears there's nothing wrong
i hear her playing that same old song
she puts me off and puts me on
and had a bad day again
she said i would not understand
she left a note that said, "i'm sorry, i had a bad day again."
yeah, i did.
Tuesday, August 2, 2005
12:35 a.m.
saturday was town with sab, trish, mitch and tanny followed by the acs drama.
i have no comments on the play.
am writing no review, sorry.
afterwards, we headed down to brewerkz at clarke quay for a round of drinks and finger food.

cheers!

for people and things that went before...

i know i'll often stop and think about them...

in my life i love you more.
sarah's in london now...
luckily she'll come back in the midst of the national day holidays.
i need a break from school.
quite stressed out.
sunday was morning mass (i managed to get up!) followed by lunch at corduroy & finch.
we ordered an unbelievable amount...
fruit juice
black coffee
berry smoothie
tiramisu sampler
vanilla panna cotta
roast beef sandwich
corduroy&finch house trifle
mediterranean platter for two
and chicken breast with pea puree.
then, we bought stuff from the deli downstairs, where my mum discovered these sinfully delicious chocolate mints that i am now dangerously addicted to.
hmmm.
oh, and i went for a jog in the evening to ease the guilt a little.
ran around the estate and took a trip down to st nicks.
seriously, it's like a colour-changing chameleon...
the building is now so colouful, even the roads appear purple.
eyes were playing tricks on me there...
and my grandparents popped by for a visit. :)
okay, on to monday.
laoshi praised me for being alert during lesson again!
plus, weiyan brought a tub of reverso icecream to school (slurp!) while mal gave us this sachet of glitter shower gel that i am never using.
it shall sit pretty as an ornament in my room.
other than that, the day was long and dreary...
we even had to stay back to put up national day flags around the school.
what a chore.
but it was somewhat rewarding i guess...
a little patriotism goes a long way.
met charm for tuition afterwards.
graphs graphs graphs.
followed by supper at junction8. :)
okay, i shouldn't be surfing the web.
othello calls.
