06:20 p.m.
edit: omg, i just received an email stating that my church caught fire.
this is like living through a series of unfortunate events.
.....
words cannot express how shit my shit day was.
i finally managed to settle the jakarta ticket at the expense of a day there, and the worst part is i have to make sab suffer along with me because the promotional tickets come in pairs.
i'm so sorry sab!
argh, and i got scolded by the bus driver today because i slept on the journey and missed my stop, and the thing is i'd only paid for the bus fare to bishan but ended up miles away so he wanted me to top up the fare.
not only did i end up in the middle of nowhere but i had to pay 2.20 for rudeness on his part.
and to make matters worse, i came home to no electricity (the wire tripped).
my ipod is not working again (back to the apple carecentre we go) and my chinese results aren't in the least bit impressive.
i'm glad our whole class passed though - we're officially free from chinese.
ooh i just toasted bread for my salmon+alfafa sandwich and it got burnt (as in black and inedible).
seriously, i don't know where all this bad karma is coming from.
is it because my room is too messy?
something about the fengshui?!

11:25 p.m.

weiyan and kelly!

vocal support.
whoo, i loved today's timetable (11.45am) and close-to-perfect class attendance and lunch (mad jacks + island creamery) and chitchatting and fitness training (team bonding activity: stoning nut).
the only things dragging me down were my heavy eyelids (what's new) and that horrid sun threatening to turn us all into crinkled ol' prunes.
anyway, shuwei got us to take this quiz and i find it pretty damn accurate.
| You scored as Linguistics. You should be a Linguistics major!
Linguistics | | 100% | English | | 92% | Journalism | | 92% | Psychology | | 92% | Sociology | | 92% | Anthropology | | 83% | Dance | | 75% | Mathematics | | 75% | Philosophy | | 67% | Theater | | 67% | Biology | | 67% | Engineering | | 67% | Art | | 58% | Chemistry | | 17% |
What is your Perfect Major? |
see i knew i was never cut out to be a chemist.
and wow those really are the few degrees i'm interested in taking!
but results come first...
speaking of which, the exciting! release! of! a! levels! is tomorrow and all i'm hoping for is band 2 for pw and a B in chinese.
honestly, i don't want to spend another year as the chinese rep thanks.Monday, February 27, 2006
08:30 p.m.
you know what's my absolute most favourite thing to do?
grocery shopping!
i went crazy in paragon marketplace today loading the cart with alfafa sprouts and blueberries and sushi and smoked salmon and steak pies etc etc etc.
this week's worth of food well stocked. :D
the people at singapore airlines said i can't change my plane ticket.
shucks i hate having to worry about this.
anyway, mal's back so whoopdeedoop!

11:09 p.m.

a garland of birthday wishes...
and us blowing kisses at abu aka alex, the king of the jungle!

i couldn't attend the oasis concert.
i'll have to take a flight to indonesia alone on thursday instead of wednesday.
i'm 99% sure i'm going to fail block test one (oh the horrors; hope jakarta offers time to study!)
but i suppose it's all worth it in the end.
shamini was telling us ghost stories about crescent girls school and boy was her old campus one uber haunted place.
i remember having to control my bladder after lights-out during a primary 4 camp in st nicks because i was so traumatised by the ghost stories the camp facils shared.
honestly i'm a chicken at heart.
went down to marina square in support of sajc (coco! charlotte!) and cjc (michie!) in danceworks.
both the teams got into the finals with cj winning first overall - everybody's happy!
sab and i went shopping right after but i couldn't find anything nice.
so i spent my money on food instead.
oh my my my.
i love it when technology cooperates with me.
the ipod has been my trusty hard disk allowing the transfer of hours of the L word (shane!) and photos and music and other rubbish from place to place, yay yay yay!
my dad is going to buy a new set of speakers for my computer so all i need now is to find time to watch the shows.
then i can die happy and maybe go wherever dead short people go.
it's an 11.45am day tomorrow. :D

11:18 p.m.
i think i'm suffering from withdrawal symptoms, getting grumpy and cranky just missing my favourite people in the world.
they are the yardsticks in my life.
like when i taste yummy cookies, i think to myself how much more i enjoy sab's.
when i hear people teasing one another about how sick they are of seeing the same people each day, i think about tanny my everyday-friend and how time constraints don't allow it anymore.
if a person my age is able to drive, i imagine shuwei all the way in america cruising down the highway in one of her swanky cars.
when i see a lizard on the wall and get all disguested and irritated, i am convinced that jan does a better job at annoying me.
(i am kidding dear, haha.)
and the list goes on and on and on...
sarah, tanessa, michelle, tricia, sabrina, charmaine, janice, charlene, shuwei,
i love you guys!
it sucks how every single one of us are in different schools.
i just cannot get over the fact that we're so physically separated.
either way, my children are going to have nine godparents in the future.

Freud referred to a nirvana principle. Nirvana is a Buddhist idea, often translated as heaven, but actually meaning "blowing out", as in the blowing out of a candle. It refers to non-existence, nothingness, the void, which is the goal of all life in Buddhist philosophy.
ah, i never knew that.
nirvana also happens to be one of my favourite bands!

Love;
probably the most important but least understood force, this is what makes everything work, from puppies growing older to people having hug-offs.

casanova was nothing but fluff and eyecandy, though time-appropriate for a group of girls who'd just run away from school.
mrs wong and mr lian weren't around so we were left with only one gp lesson the entire day.
sheesh kebab!
yiqin and i had to trudge back in the late afternoon for physical training which got us all down and dirty.
the thing i hate most about fitness is how grimy you get right after.
if only we didn't have to perspire and mess around on the ground!
in other exciting news, the girls and i bought new hockey sticks yesterday.
finally, my very own!
and tanny, i'm going to give you the ipod earphones.
you can treat me to chicken rice or something. :D

09:55 p.m.

my trusty polaroid camera, by coco.
i'm the perfect consumer: trusting, impulsive, and completely useless at bargaining.
but i tried to be somewhat more street-smart today amidst all the sleaze of electronic goods salesmen.
i'm hoping to sell off these ipod earphones so if anyone wants them, quote your price!
or i will give them to you if i like you enough. :)

they're still sealed and everything - i'm selling them to pay off my mounting debt.
finances for yours truly are very sadly in the negative value.

12:26 a.m.
today at joline's birthday party, i learnt the difference between longan and lychee.
i much prefer the latter especially with some booze poured over it - ahma's ingenious idea!
watched the island and played snap too;
i'm bringing wasabi as a forfeit next time. :)
i'm so so so happy that all the crescent girls are staying.
can't wait for the kl and jakarta trip, though i will have to bring my books along and attempt to study throughout.
bleargh.
after selling my ipod three months ago, i'm finally getting a new one tomorrow.
how exciting!
sab, this is a notice to you that i will be popping by this week to steal music.
there's a sexy pile of homework and notes waiting for me on the desk...
maybe if i touch it, osmosis will kick in afterall.

12:06 a.m.
just got home!

was awesome.
they had us on our feet all night.
i want to run out and get their second album now!
Wednesday, February 15, 2006
11:53 p.m.
the photo thief is on-form today!
thus she will seek to entertain you with stolen images.
first up, corinne's collage of us on valentine's day.

what's with all the smooching!

school was awesome with my favourite a21ers and the hockey girls.
i took about 80 polaroids altogether and the flash just about made me go blind by the end of the day (i was secretly happy that i ran out of film).
it was fun, though no more camera action for the rest of the year please, thankyouverymuch.
i like that everything i received was homemade, but vday isn't only about love and all that jazz.
there's always good ol' physical training (designed to give us big and muscular legs) though i still like long outdoor runs very much.
that kept us in school well after sunset.
it's also a certain someone's birthday so happy 18th shuwei!
my diet of cookies, brownies and chocolate over the past two days has got me perpetually high, which may also explain why i haven't been sleeping in class recently...
can't say the same about mental skills training though.
that one is beyond control.

that's mitchel and i looking much too happy.
our class tried out floorball during pe and it's actually quite fun!
oh, tanny, charm and i watched walk the line today.
i like all musicals no matter how predictable the story so it worked fine by me - do watch it!
and to mal who is down with chickenpox;
don't know if you'll read this but i hope you're feeling better.
thanks for being so sweet, bothering with vday stuff even during your illness, and remember that we all miss you in class.
i'd visit you but i haven't got chickenpox before. :(
shall get a vaccination this week!
then maybe i'll pop over. :)

09:12 p.m.
i was down at holland village today (after a wild journey there with weiyan) and went absolutely ballistic shopping for the most random things;
a pouch, liquer chocolate, polaroid film, passport holder (i know, what the hell right), a necklace, denim jeans and 3 different types of smoked salmon.
then i bought my dinner of caesar salad with salmon from coffeebean and my sis ordered smoked salmon pizza over the phone.
goodness, omega 3 fats overload!
i saw roses going for 4 dollars per stalk, international school students totting big bunches of helium-filled balloons, boyfriends buying ridiculously huge asthma-inducing stuffed toys and school kids picking out the most value-for-money chocolates in the supermarket.
it's definitely one of the most fun and amusing days of the year and i plan to enjoy it while it lasts.
don't spoil it for me, any of you cynics of love.
today marks the first birthday in our class this year and we creamed yiqin from head to toe.
she was crowned our resident beauty queen with a personalised sash and tiara to boot. :)
hope you liked the cake and ipod nano, and happy 18th qinkie!
i was just reading weiyan's blog and decided that i wouldn't mind living in a world where only females existed.
i'm not feminist or anything to that extent but i do believe i could live without men in my life (save for the problem of procreation, but that's beside the point).

"coyness"
"Listen to the mustn'ts, child.
Listen to the don'ts.
Listen to the shouldn'ts, the impossibles, the won'ts.
Listen to the never haves, then listen close to me...
Anything can happen, child.
Anything can be."

11:08 p.m.

05a21 love!
zara is hiding somewhere.
i originally intended to bake cookies for everyone but it's common knowledge that my culinary skills go into the negative value.
coincidentally, my oven broke down too, so there you go -
no cookies this valentine's.
my mum complains that it's tiring for her when i cook because i use a lot of utensils and crockery.
hello, i'm just trying to avoid cross-contamination here.
my dear shuwei left today;
no one's left to bully me!
ate a whole lot of dimsum at the airport just now -
chow, you can attest to that.
got to get started on some form of vday present...
there goes the rest of my angpao money.
i have a lit lecture make-up and training after school on valentine's day.
argh, no lifer.
i hope we get to play basketball for pe again tomorrow!

12:28 a.m.
just got home!
today was a mad rush starting with cip in the morning.
i almost died in the dust of the salvation army whilst packing and clearing the rooms;
touching lizard shit and dead beetle bodies is now second nature to me.
jill, joy, feijuan, jael, hema and i were sent up to the store itself and i went quite mad just folding baby clothes and wiping plates and glasses.
absolutely mindless!
but quite therapeutic after a while.
sab's mum cooked ee fu mee (my favourite!) so i hurried over to their place and had three helpings of it.
was worth the walk as always.
got changed and headed down to orchard with tanny, charm, stacy and shuwei - the last time i'm seeing that girl for six months.
oh my my my.
sab and mitch joined tanny and me for dinner afterwards and we yakkity yakked till late.
oh boy, i'm so happy that st nicks did well for the o's this year.
but i also heard that the reason this year's j1s did so well is because the smart ones in the ip programme (ri, nygh etc) didn't take their o's so the bell curve shifted and everyone did slightly better...
ah well, that's not the point.
i'm glad most people did good!
now i'm all inspired;
i do believe my a's are at the end of this year.
it's going to be a hectic sunday tomorrow.

11:12 p.m.
i ♥ nerds.

cameras and i - we just don't get along.
trooped over to thai noodle house and island creamery with liz, kelly and weiyan today.
i was stuffed and satisfied, but now i'm hungry all over again.
shall do some serious grocery shopping this weekend.
the mother of all mosquitoes just planted three mega-huge islands on my leg.
super. darn. itchy.

12:08 a.m.
at tanny's place the other day;
girls-night-in surprisingly green-themed.

tagged by weiyan;
The tagged victim has to come up with 8 different points of their perfect lover.
1. sense of humour (without this there is nothing!)
2. innately good
3. articulate
4. interested in sports
5. ambitious
6. smart dresser
7. sincere
8. nice legs and cute hair (you know, as a bonus)
and tagged by kelly.
The ten things in your bag that you have to carry with you all the time.
1. handphone
2. wallet
3. mints
4. tissue (like, 4 packets)
5. book or magazine
6. moleskin diary
7. blister plasters
8. ipod
9. keys (i've been locked out countless times)
10. digital camera
i officially love mondays because of my self-imposed dismissal time (11.45am - no one attends chinese anymore), pe with mr lam (basketball! handball! softball!) and because it's movie day with the girls.
yesterday was our second week running and i cried buckets during the film - jo said i looked like i just broke up with someone, haha.
we went walking around with puffy eyes after that, shopped a little and then had dinner at marche.
it's a fantastic way to kickstart the week. :)
i spent five hours in the library today.
you'd think i was studying, but no, it was like playing musical tables because different people kept joining and leaving and coming and going.
i barely covered any of my readings due to the distracting (and juicy) chitchat but it was fun and i had quite a few laughs around that table.
training was pretty light today due to widespread muscle-aching.
we did sprints, but i think the fastest i ran was when grace, nut and gladys tricked us as we were climbing over the gate out of school.
i honestly thought they were teachers, haha!
just got off the phone with sab and mich and we're going on a cip trip to jakarta during the march holidays.
i might be going to kl with the hockey team too, and joining the school geography tour to central australia in june.
exciting stuff!
i feel darn guilty about travelling in the midst of an important year though.
i think i blog too much.
shall channel my time into more productive endeavours like...
the lit essay i have to complete by tonight, for instance.
bleargh.

02:01 a.m.
i'm up doing essays.
3 for lit, 1 for gp, and nowhere near done;
have to vent my frustrations.
this commonwealth essay topic really cracked me up.
Write a short history of Life, the Universe and everything.
talk about being general!

10:12 a.m.
i know i haven't been updating.
nothing much's been up really.
wednesday was the girls team dinner during which we had chilli crab and pepper crab and sambal kangkong and tomyam soup and sweet&sour chicken and all the usual stuff.
and then we got high.

superheroes!
i scaled the photos;
for higher resolution, click here.
there's a lot more where that came from but i'll upload them another time.
well school hasn't exactly eaten me alive yet.
in fact, i'm enjoying it (save for the workload) so that's good.
i'm aware that term one is supposed to be the most easy-going and the pressure is bound to catch up with me sooner or later but until then, i'm going to focus more on hockey.
i'm so concerned about what each mistake i make is going to cost me that in the process i fumble and make more and it's a vicious cycle all over again.
this is like the cycle of poverty we once learnt in geography;
either way, i'm going to work my way out of it.
:D
after training on friday, i spent the whole night at tanny's place talking over takeaways that shuwei bought us.
it was a nice long talk, five girls, around the mahjong table.
got home at 6am shagged to the bone.
we lost to crescent 'b' div 1-0 yesterday.
it's fine.
i learnt something.
today is the first hockey-free day since tuesday and i intend to spend it wisely.
church followed by a family dinner because my favourite uncle is back from hongkong.
everything is so artfully planned and scheduled nowadays;
what happened to Spontaneous Weekends 2005?!
omg you know what, we lost the remote control for our scv cable box.
hahahahaha!
i think it's hilarious.

12:27 a.m.
unglam shots of our past.

those were the days.
and our dear photographer;

i love you!
