haha!
this is really quite hilarious: a hand-sewn doll with its own birth certificate (not pictured).

it's pretty ugly but lovingly made for weiyan's birthday.
the flaps at the back are supposed to be angel wings by the way...
i tried.
today's literature lesson was phenomenal.
the thing about smithereens is that he treats every extract like an onion and peeling apart each layer, therein lies the core and a subject matter so far-out you cannot help but be amazed at its pungency intended for by the author but which you might have previously missed out on (i kinda got lost in my own analogy) but yeah, it's so refreshing.
well it's the time of the year when all our american pies (sarah, shuwei, genna) come home!
and guess what, a mr bean outlet opened near my house which means my favourite mocha soya and soft serve icecream will be available 24/7 (well technically not but at least for the waking half of the day).
thrill-seeking in soyabeans;
says something about the state of life...

12:45 a.m.

here and here.
i love his hair and i love his sense of humour.
the ong family weekend;
my cousin came back from hongkong and got baptised at st ignatius today.
tomorrow, we're having an extended family gathering over popiah and chicken macaroni.
i'm thinking about the two marmalade pantry cupcakes i had for supper and feeling a tad bit guilty.
sarah fung is coming back soon so that means we can finally get our haircut;
yes please, i'm this close to snipping off my unruly hair by myself.
i don't wanna be adored
don't wanna be first in line
or make myself heard

today was crazy-wonderful.

10:15 p.m.
before i start on this image-heavy-bust-your-broadband post, i must make a special mention.
do you guys remember this boy i used to gush about in church, how i used to say that 12 years wouldn't matter and that i'd marry him anyway?
charmaine and tiffany had better remember him because i often dragged them over to spy!
i used to ask his brother colin to sell me his photo too.
well guess what, i found him at ascension kindergarten.

this is kean, age 6.

he asked me to guess which primary school he's going to next year which means that i can now continue my stalking antics. :D

char likes him too!
so handsome!
another thing i want to say is that we found a mr soh lookalike.

the resemblance is much scarier in real life.

like a mr-ben-soh-mini-me running around.
well okay it all began early in the morning - i'll let pictures do the talking.
courtesy of weiyan and corinne.

production crew members.

macho milo and princess apple.

fat fry, haha.

pelting fat fry with balls - PANDEMONIUM.

hahaha!

that's my group skipping off to lunch.

both these girls are angels.

and that's the sweet kirianne i was talking about.

she even offered to help with the distribution of apples.

how cute is this?!

this boy nixus, he's the only one who calls me "karina".
uber cute.

sending them off.

16 boxes of pizza and massive amounts of yam cake - the teachers sponsored.

i think we should make the kitchen our homeroom.

round 2; the afternoon session.

mr lian's children came to join us. :D

dead beat at the end of the day.

the end.

07:45 p.m.
today i had the most romantic thing said to me.
"i want to hold your hand and we'll never separate."
then she squeezed it even tighter and i almost died of gladness.
later in the caf, she put her feet up on the seat next to her to reserve that space for me.
and she commented with the cutest smile, "your name sounds like mine" (hers is kirianne).
how to not show favouritism?!
she's extremely sweet and cheeky at the same time, like my siriam.
okay i just got back from town;
today was beyond tiring.
elaboration tomorrow when i compile a few photos!

in my life, there are so many questions and answers that somehow seem wrong.
in my life, there are times when i catch in the silence the sigh of a faraway song.
and it sings of a world that i long to see -
out of reach, just a whisper away, waiting for me.

06:10 p.m.
i'm sorry if i haven't replied messages or answered your calls the past few days.
my phone selectively puts them through;
i think something has definitely gone wonky but i can't figure out what.
anyway, shuwei is coming back in a few days, whooop!

everytime i look at this photo, i think: FISHEYE
except the effect here is even better.

everytime i look at this photo, i think: HERPES
but my dear friends will still let me kiss them, right?
everytime i look at this photo, i think: SHUWEI
it was so spontaneous.
okay i'm posting too many photos.
and all in some sort of uniform, tsk, but it's my last few months wearing one!
today, weiyan bought us her favourite kwaychap from thomson though i still can't bring myself to eat innards.
i love a21;
it's like a silent consensus that every school day past is one day less with each other.
no more skipping school now, and more time spent awake in class!

these avatars showcase some of my favourite people and artforms.
so lovely!
you probably can't tell but the first girl is mary kate. :)
"Teachers of Literature are apt to think up such problems as "What is the author's purpose?" or still worse "What is the guy trying to say?" Now, I happen to be the kind of author who in starting to work on a book and who, when asked to explain its origin and growth, has to rely on such ancient terms as Interreaction of Inspiration and Combination - which, I admit, sounds like a conjurer explaining one trick by performing another."
haha, that's why i love vladimir nabokov.
i've 8 essays to complete this weekend.
bummer.
all the girls pose the same for pictures,
all the boys got the same girls hair.
and i am bored because i feel much older,
look at me as if i got a reason to stare.
but you talk so loud, that it calms me down.
you're crying, let's make a toast.
she says she's leaving on a sunday,
oh that leaves me one more night.
can i take you home?
i know it's wrong, but i know your type.

i don't know if it's the hospital air but my head is throbbing like an indian drum (haha, very funny).
i'm off.

02:33 a.m.
Hi! I'm blogging from my study area (via the handphone) and I'm going bonkers. Studying puts me in the foulest mood. I'm just not in my element around stupid graphs and definitions. Oh god, don't get me started on definitions. From 'urban heat island' (geog) to 'horatian/juvenalian satire' (lit) to 'full employment' (which require graphs to explain in econs) - I'd much rather read the Classifieds, honestly.
Right now, I'm eating Reese's peanut butter cereal and milk at 2.30 in the morning. Breakfast food is comfort food is make-me-happy food.
In other news, I've decided to pick up knitting and/or (econs term!) crocheting after my 'A' Levels. To bring out the inner Mother Hubbard. I actually bought a how-to-crochet book from Kinokuniya last Sunday. Oh boy oh boy, can't wait.
Happy racial harmony day, you guys! My only ethnic costume has gone missing. Maybe it's in the cast-away pile I set aside for the Zouk flea market in September?

12:33 a.m.
this cracked me up so bad (thanks charlotte).
they're what i go to school for.

and because i had a fantastic day, because i'm in such a good mood, because i'm not going to school tomorrow, i'm going to type out an excerpt from one of my all-time favourite novels:
Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul.
Lo-lee-ta: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps
down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth. Lo. Lee. Ta.
She was Lo, plain Lo, in the morning, standing four feet ten in
one sock. She was Lola in slacks. She was Dolly at school. She was
Dolores on the dotted line. But in my arms she was always Lolita.
Did she have a precursor? She did, indeed she did. In point of
fact, there might have been no Lolita at all had I not loved, one
summer, a certain initial girl-child. In a princedom by the sea.
Oh when? About as many years before Lolita was born as my age
was that summer. You can always count on a murderer for a
fancy prose style.
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, exhibit number one is what
the seraphs, the misinformed, simple, noble-winged seraphs, envied.
Look at this tangle of thorns.
......
i could read this book over and over and discover each time a renewed love for everything that i hold true - words, passion, language, raw emotion - because it's timeless and so beautiful.

10:29 p.m.
what a pretty shoe.

saw these louboutins after lunch at the crystal jade palace today (everybody loves dim sum) and i couldn't stop touching.
this weekend was nice considering i got to see the girls over dinner.
this also being the last weekend of the sale, i bought a pair of marc jacobs heels, another lacoste polo, this beautiful song+kelly dress (that i have no occasion to wear to), and a few pieces of clothes from the new baylene store at mandarin arcade.
i really needed the cheering up;
and now it's back to punishing myself for the lousy bout of grades with self-imposed curfews and strict ground rules.
i need to focus.

happy birthday tannyleongsokchengchengchengchengcheng!
i know we don't have time to hang out as much anymore but i love you all the same. :)
just got back from the birthday do at clarke quay.
i'm dead beat.

i like this series of pictures because they make me laugh!

10:37 p.m.
and so it is, fucked up grades that should never see the light of day.
what's sad is that each result was richly deserved for the amount of work put in;
but that's just another excuse, isn't it.

09:03 p.m.
today i messaged ms chua and we corresponded for a bit.
she's the one teacher i truly respect and everything she says means that much more.
i'm so glad she won the teacher award because no one deserves it more than she does. :)

10:10 p.m.
during our econs drq test today, i wrote in my evaluation "women are notoriously brand-loyal when it comes to clothes that suit them, especially so for wardrobe staples like denim jeans; thus, fit becomes just as important as the style quotient and the retailer has to target that which best flatters the customer and continue to interest her with new cuts and washes in order to keep her loyalty".
i thought it sounded out of place in an econs essay.
and since we're on the topic of jeans, i must mention this pair of earnest sewn cigarette pants that the guy at actually recommended and i could surprisingly wear although i always think short people cannot do skinny jeans and it's true but this pair fit and i love how they look so i'm buying them anyway. :D
now to cough up 369 dollars...
okay, bimbo moment over.
charmaine and i went shopping around ann siang hill today and we're going back there again next week. :)
i love shophouses, especially those along emerald hill!

12:13 a.m.
the house is entirely depleted of grapefruit juice (never before!) because i kept stealing them - one carton for jien and one for cheryl's breakfast-birthday-surprise. :)
the cookout was amazing;
malorie made cheese pasta, jo brought potato salad, weiyan prepared chocolate fondue and i, urm, brought juice.
photos by the sweetest caramelgirl.

cherylbabeloy.

early morning, we came bearing gifts - mostly pink!

surprise!

too cute.

make a stupid face!

we took like a million silly photos at the playground afterwards.
maybe i'll post them up next time. :)

cheerycherrycheryl.

later, her mgs girlfriends came to spring a surprise outside the library and they were so successful they surprised even me (although i already knew they were coming!)

♥♥♥
college day was an eye-opener (although my eyes did close during the lengthier speeches) and i started thinking about the next 5 months to come.
all i can say is, scary fairy.

that's me trying to stay awake.
i kept wishing they'd dim the lights so that i could maybe nap for a while.

12:09 a.m.
crabby patties!
i think i have an affinity with cancerians.
for one, the 2 men in my life - daddy and gonggong - are cancerians.
then there's tanessa and weiyan who are both very special to me.
furthermore, crabs are my favourite seafood so that just drives my point home.
anyway, since it's bordering on the 7th now, i can finally scream:
happy 18th birthday cheryl, you babelicious babe you.
and to jien, i hope you had a smashing surprise party tonight. :)
i think i like all cancer babies.
oh yes i made a discovery about my stamina this morning - it's actually deteriorated more terribly than i imagined.
i ran in the rain arriving just in time for my 9.15am literature class huffing and puffing like an old wheezebag;
this from someone who used to be quite adept at sprinting through potong pasir to avoid late-coming (haha).
school was fine and dandy.
after our self-imposed dismissal time of 10.45am, sab's mum picked me up and i went to her place for the L word, omg i was ecstatic.
we covered 7 episodes of season 3 in one sitting. :D
i want to shoot all the scriptwriters of season 3 because they make every character become detestable.
except shane, shane's still good ol' shane.
you know, i haven't taken my attendance the past two weeks because i keep forgetting to.
the fingerprint machine thingies around the school seem pretty nifty but they're so much of a hassle to use.
in other news, school mornings are just as routine;
i step on millipedes on the way to our homeroom (unintentional, but they're everywhere), sit on the table, swing my legs and eat breakfast, try to smile at the aunty who clears our trash (because i always worry she will scold me for attracting insects with my breakfast), catch up with the classmates ("so did you win or lose money today"), then slowly stroll off to assembly.
i'm rambling and that can only mean that i'm tired.
this tune has been in my head since watching the L word and i can't seem to get it out of my head...
"Hel-lo, every-body, so glad to see you. Hel-lo to Lo-la, so glad to see you. Hel-lo to Pi-erce, so glad to see you. Hel-lo to Angelica, so glad to see you."
