10:37 p.m.
there's this one person i can't stand.
how do i put this in perspective.
well, between her and the great blue sea, i'd readily tie myself to an anchor and jump into the water with no attempt at struggling;
which is saying a lot since i'm not the best swimmer around and drowning is a huge issue with me.
in fact, i'm semi-phobic.
you get my point. ;)
today was much-loved mahjong and cny-snacking with the girls.
after half a year of drought, my luck finally picked up and i won my cab fare's worth (plus a little extra cash to spare, which i spent on icecream).
also, i realise i'm beginning to take to all things warped and twisted.
lolita is up there on my list of favourite books, songs with funeral-march-like drones are easier on the ear (think thea gilmore), and the darkest, most morbid things appeal to me.
at least it isn't affecting my disposition i hope.
here's a beautiful quote.
I die every time I breathe out.
And I'm reborn every time I breathe in.
oh sarah, i do hope you're having a good chinese new year in america!
we thought about you during mahjong today and i just want you to know that you're being missed very badly.
i'll eat a pineapple tart (or two) just for you!
:)
isn't it such a dampener, to be suddenly reminded of literature and economics essays that need completion by tomorrow (due long ago).
on another note, my dad got us a heavy-duty juicer for the kitchen.
happy happy joy joy, now i can start concocting all sorts of fruit and vegetable juices.
if you already know about my love affair with smoothies, you'd know i'm just as excited as when we last got our blender.
can't wait to get started!

meet my new love.

09:09 p.m.
my hands smell of freshly minted money...
ooh la love!
this year's cny was so much fun.
we had kick-ass nasi briyani and steamboat and sit-around chats and bonding with the cousins.
'twas a wholesome day - no alcohol or gambling - and even cny mass at st ignatius with blessed oranges to boot.
people who didn't come back for christmas flew home this time so it was nice seeing the good ol' crew.
i also noticed that there's an existing tall gene somewhere in the extended family along with a number of good-lookers.
but something must have exterminated those genes down the line because as my cousin and i were saying, we certainly don't see it in our generation.
if the shops know what's good for them, they won't be snubbing students anytime soon.
all the little tykes are richie rich with angpao money!
and because i was tagged...
Name five of life's simple pleasures that you like most, then pick five people to do the same. Try to be original and creative and not use things that someone else has already used.
one.
ben&jerry's.
heaven in a tub, i always say.
two.
time spent with my favourite girls in the world.
three.
sleeping in and waking up to good-hair-days (these are few and far between).
four.
phone conversations through the night.
five.
bargain shopping.
i pick weiyan, valen, kelly, corinne and louie. :)
something to ponder;
if there were conjoined twins, and one of them committed murder, what would happen?
would the authorities send the twins to jail, knowingly imprisoning an innocent person, or would they let the guilty one go free to prevent the wrongful persecution of the twin that committed no crime?
if you find this pointless, imagine the latter scenario true;
all of us will live in fear of conjoined twins going on crime sprees.
how utterly random, haha.
on a lighter note, i'm going house-visiting with mich, sab, trish and tanny followed by mahjong tomorrow.
can't wait!

02:22 a.m.
this morning was blazzzing hot.
i realise i like the sun very much but only when i'm not in it.
training was 3 halves against crescent before rushing off to malaysia.
i've got my first stash of angpaos, but in ringgit.
ho hum.

we're missing jan the pig.
more visiting of extended family members tomorrow;
tiring stuff.

12:03 a.m.

this page will probably take ages to load with all the photographs but oh well!

10:32 p.m.
i like my pineapple tarts burnt.
so what my dear grandmother does is that she saves all the charred ones in a bottle and leaves me to enjoy those rejects.
i knew it was chinese-new-year-baking-day when my stash arrived this week, brown and overbaked just the way i like it.
yesterday was pretty ace;
watched the whole cny full dress rehearsal with the hockey girls and participated as very enthusiastic members of the audience.
cheryl, corinne and charlotte our dancers were crazy hot!
training was surprisingly light (i finally learnt how to hit properly!) and we had the lo hei thing after.
chopsticks all over the place, tossing up a chinese salad;
fun!
i think climbing over the fence out of school is going to be a regular thing now, what with the security guards locking all the side gates so early in the day.
but it's okay because i'm beginning to enjoy it.
i'm still learning how to do so more glamorously though. ;)
met up with chow, shuwei and tanny to surprise charm later that evening.
of course, she'd already expected it because we're all spoilers like that.
but either way happy 18th birthday my dear, the one who knows all my little quirks.
i ♥ you!
school gave me such a headache today, with rude snatches of sleep and having to run around so sneakily.
anyway, i managed to leave early enough for a birthday lunch with the girls and some shop-shop-shopping.
it's been a while!

i'd heard this photo was posted and we went to look it up in the school library.
we look quite happy pre-run, don't we.
i hope the friendly match with crescent tomorrow will be fun, followed by that annual trip up to malaysia.
fellow thams of the world, unite!

10:09 p.m.
my first ever cross-country run.
we never had one in st nicks and last year's at cj was more of a walkathon so boy was i excited!
j1s and j2s compete together so it was quite a hustle at the starting line.
i got top 50 in the girls event which was slightly disappointing but oh well.
a conversation i overheard before the race which cracked me up.
"are you gonna run or walk the trail?"
"err i think i'll run downhill."
okay it doesn't sound too funny now but you just had to be there to laugh. :)
after dismissal, 12 of us headed down to coronation plaza for lunch.
it was such an odd mix of people from different classes and ccas but i love the feeling of an all-girl environment so it felt good to me!
afterwards, the dancers left us and we walked down to island creamery for a few scoops.
more girl talk and it was off to kelly's house to chill.

i love the couch in her basement because it's the comfiest thing ever.
slept right through the movie.

and what's a gathering without some mahjong?!

st marg's, mgs, sngs, scgs.
thanks goodness i'm in romanis or i'd never have met these wonderful people.

big cheery smiles to end off the happy day!
all photo credits go to weiyan;
you know how i always like to steal. ;)

09:09 p.m.
holey moley aunt baloney.
my jersey went missing in the changing room, and it's borrowed property!
i'm hoping someone kind picked it up.

the sweeties who shopped with me today. :)
i've new sneakers!

03:03 p.m.
my sister is being a pms-y bitch.
pre, present, post, perpetual, permanent!
just got back from church and we're playing against theresians later.
i'm sorry to say that my jersey is going to stink because it just isn't drying in the sun.
i can't bring myself to start on homework either.
the thing about gp, geography, literature and economics is that it's all about the essays.
blah.
oh yes, i watched memoirs of a geisha with sab and mich last night and it's a gorgeous film.
the kimonos were beautiful and the cinematography was awesome, except the script sounded far less cheesy in the book than it did in the movie.
haha, i cringed quite a bit.
stepping into town yesterday, i realised that i've not been shopping in the longest time.
highly uncharacteristic.

You Are Likely a First Born
|
At your darkest moments, you feel guilty.
At work and school, you do best when you're researching.
When you love someone, you tend to agree with them often.
In friendship, you are considerate and compromising.
Your ideal careers are: business, research, counseling, promotion, and speaking.
You will leave your mark on the world with discoveries, new information, and teaching people to dream.

02:13 p.m.
in light of chinese new year, i decided to do some springcleaning of my own.
took the easy way out by housekeeping stuff online instead of clearing out anything tangible. :)
it feels so good deleting project work files.
just got back from training and we've a match again later.
it's against teck whye secondary - hope we do well!
then i'm going to finally watch memoirs of a geisha with the girls.
i already know that i'm going to buy lychee+berry gelato from shaw house tonight.
yum!

11:37 p.m.
remember back in st nicks when we used to pick the loose rubber pieces off the synthetic track?
then collect them in our skirts and fling them at each other?
i did that for the first time in many months today!
and also ran in the rain and played captain's ball for training. :)
shucks.
i really hope we can squeeze in a meetup this weekend.
miss you girls so bad.
i've many things say!
charm and i want to share a vespa as soon as we get our licences.
imagine that!
Thursday, January 19, 2006
11:48 p.m.
i spent the whole afternoon whining into charmaine, charlene and tanny's faces.
"i'm so stressed, i'm so stressed, at i don't know what!"
actually i do know but it's beyond me.
oh well.
tuition was very enjoyable;
international trade is a blast to study. :)
cheryl, jo and i attended our first ever session of morning worship today.
we're the early (dodo) birds who reach school at 6.45am everyday - got to find something meaningful to do!
i've decided that as long as i've had enough sleep the previous night and if there aren't any urgent tutorials to complete, i'll be down at lt1.
i watched fight club on charlotte's ipod video this morning.
movies like that, i love.
funny how i don't work chronologically.
speaks of a messy mind.
Thursday, January 19, 2006
12:34 a.m.
mitchel was awfully sweet today.
he made us kick-ass sandwiches for break with reduced-fat-everything.
i'll buy ingredients this weekend and whip up something for next week!
watch out, a21.

a pretty bad photo, but there's something i like about it.
maybe because sab is smiling.
and we look so happy. :)
i've been worrying a lot lately and i think it's showing.
i don't even sleep in class anymore because i'm hardly ever that relaxed.
the thing is, what i'm caught up with is insignificant and i really shouldn't be caring that much.
but you know how it is;
when your rational self flies out the window the moment that someone comes into the picture.
yowza enough of that crap.
i love mr smith's practical criticism classes.
if only our timetable revolved around them!
Tuesday, January 17, 2006
08:00 p.m.
a couple of random photos.

with some of the hockey girls.
i found school strangely refreshing today.
handball during pe was fun as always;
just no more mindless running around the track please!
Tuesday, January 17, 2006
12:26 a.m.
i just learnt the keynesian theory during tuition and omg calculations are so not my thing.
no one told me we'd encounter algebra in economics!
today was such a slack day in school.
the only time i got my heart rate up was during the 10 rounds for pe and when spotting Mr J1 Eyecandy. ;)
but the rest of the world finds him cute too!
Sunday, January 15, 2006
10:41 p.m.
recently, i've been reading novels that revolve around paedophiles, which is a bit strange really.
i'm just done with the lovely bones and next up is lolita.
yesterday was shagadelic stuff.
after training from 6.30am to 9am, jien and i went to serene centre and planted ourselves there for seven hours along with weiyan.
we studied!
and gossiped, but that's what happens when girls get together.
today was awesome spending time with jan, chow, charm, tanny and shuwei - finally, everyone!
we caught a bit of the rockclimbing competition down at clarke quay too.
love you guys. :)
the u-21 tournament has started and we've lost one and won one so far.
there was this super sarcastic girl on the pitch today who said 'fuck' in my ear at a frequency of once every minute.
then she got a yellow card for shoving i think, and was sent off.
why is it that while the entire arts fac watched gattaca on friday, our class was holed up in the igloo that is our cultural centre?
where is the fairness?
i'm so random today.
and argh, school starts tomorrow.
but i love mondays because there's pe!

woohoo.

sorry, couldn't help it.
Thursday, January 12, 2006
10:08 p.m.
bunch of crackpots. :)

meet up meet up meet up soon!

weiyan was working her sneaky camera during civics...
the cultural centre is highly uncomfortable to sleep in by the way.
school has been fine and dandy so far, although i really should be putting more effort into completing my tutorials.
i wish we had more lectures too.
mal and i counted - we only have four a week!
measly number.
let's make oatmeal prawns our next outing at potong pasir.
:)

06:52 p.m.
elizabethtown;
scrapbooks, polaroids, quotes, overworn tees, "whimsical", non-mainstream music, roadtrips, eulogies, curly hair, marketplaces.
you can't help but love a film in which all your favourite things are contained;
even if kirsten dunst was immensely pesky in her character.
a quote that sarah and i came across in town one day.
Women:
Never trust anything that bleeds for five days and doesn't die.
personally, i find that it averages four.
♥

11:02 p.m.

let's talk about the weather;
it's been raining the entire day.
i'd like to think of it as snow but who am i kidding.
give me a cloudy and windy day anytime - my favourite.
when you don't have to squint, duck under shelter, totter around on slippery ground or get stuck indoors.
my family and i were confined to scotts shopping centre the whole afternoon with no reinforcements (ie. umbrellas) to take us any further away from the car parked at hyatt hotel.
came home to a leaking window and wet floors - tsk tsk.
i wish i could wear rain boots in singapore without getting laughed at.
i'd stomp around and jump in every puddle and splash water all over.
hmmm, okay i actually don't mind people laughing;
next item that i'm on the lookout for!
:D
Inside the snow globe on my father's desk, there was a penguin wearing a red-and-white-striped scarf. When I was little my father would pull me into his lap and reach for the snow globe. He would turn it over, letting all the snow collect on top, then quickly invert it. The two of us watched the snow fall gently around the penguin. The penguin was alone in there, I thought, and I worried for him. When I told my father this, he said, "Don't worry, Susie; he has a nice life. He's trapped in a perfect world."
the lovely bones

07:13 p.m.
i just ripped this off weiyan.

unglamness.
i went down to singapore polytechnic after training today.
met up with jan and charm to lunch and watch this rockclimbing competition - all the human monkeys!
anyway, i just got home to wash up and make a quick change.
dinah's birthday party is on tonight and i'll finally see how valen's place looks like!
been wanting to since primary school. :)
Friday, January 6, 2006
11:57 p.m.
i am, today, for some reason, incandescently happy (quote unquote pride and prejudice).
and the weird thing is that there is no solid reason why i should be this happy!
not that i'm complaining.
so school was pretty interesting today.
econs lect: hello lt3. ;)
lit tut: chicken scratches all over my notebook.
geog tut: sent out of class to complete holiday homework.
gp: had to finish a comprehension passage in class;
i hate timed assignments!
sounds awfully dreary but i really enjoyed school.
then it was training during which we ran about 7.5km to bishan park and back.
pushed and swept balls with sherelynn afterwards;
i found physical training especially therapeutic today!
good stuff. :)
oh, and we crashed the j1 orientation finale!
'twas a mean feat considering there were teachers and the sc everywhere.
thanks to the volleyball girls who helped get us in, although i just realised that i didn't get their names...
anyhoo, last year's finale was much more fun.
mainly because they played sucky music this year and disallowed the enthusiastic j2s from entering.
would have been a blast!
i wrote everything about my day to try and see what exactly i liked so much about it.
no go.
well, i'm done for now.
off to bed!
Thursday, January 5, 2006
11:26 p.m.
duck pizza at the tea party with kelly and weiyan was ooh la love.
i also managed to stay awake throughout the 3 periods of economics tutorial and 4 consecutive periods of geography.
yes, it was a good day.
i don't want to get started on my econs essay.
darn.
Thursday, January 5, 2006
12:13 a.m.

bintan.

sunkissed;
or in my case, sunburnt.
sarah's leaving for the states in eleven hours.
met up for one last time just now;
we'll not be seeing her in five months!
but then again, time flies.
