My pitas page

finally, a lovely weekend forecast

the darkness
this is my new favorite band. they give me the sort of let's-dance-and-party feeling i experienced when first listening to the strokes. mark my words, they could be big, if the music media machine lets them. they'll be at the bowery ballroom on 9/18. see ya there.

my dress
when one is in ireland, why not buy one's wedding dress? which is what i did, because not only is one more thing checked off the list, but i now have a dress with some very sentimental value and a great "fate" story to boot. it's not one of the ones on this website since it's from last season, but this is the designer so you'll get a feel for what it's sort of like.

coldplay and gwynnie gettin' it on?
okay, so i'm over the fact that chris martin would rather date gwyneth paltrow than me or any of my really cool single female friends. but what i cannot understand is why he needs to pass decent, smart girls by to be with a girl who is instructing her macrobiotic chefs (yes, plural) to give her more vitamins so she can get preggers. i mean, dear god.

that's a fine kettle of fish
this was "blackout weekend '03" and boy was it fun and carb-filled. after walking down 33 flights of stairs, got home, enjoyed lemonade beer and chips for dinner. the following morning we got out power back at 8 am, but dear a.w. did not have power until 6 pm that night, and poor h.p. not til about 8 or 9. so the clan (and me) fled the city for long island, where i learned how to fish and clean what i caught. it was really, really fun, and i know how out of character that sounds for me.

i feel...activist
i am in love with howard dean. he gets me excited about politics in a way only the west wing has in the last couple of years. check out his positions on the issues and see if you feel the same. see ya at the next rally...

evil david's bridal
ok, so this weekend in agawam i went to the local nice-as-all-get-out bridal salon to try on dresses (found another potential one), and then out of curiosity mom and i hit the local outpost of this factory-like place in connecticut. it was a dreadful experience--i must caution and and all of you who ever find yourself in a position to try on bride gowns to not go here. yes, the prices are low, but that is because the dresses are dirty and the salepeople are mean. needless to say, no purchases were made. live and learn :)

legally blonde 2: criminally bad
i cannot tell you how bad this long-anticipated (by me) movie was. it was just painful to sit through. reese, why? why?!?

jiggly. i mean, gigli
this story is so post-modern--all about the non-seeing of a big movie. i especially like how the writer notes that no one pronounces the title as "jee-lee". i personally enjoy pronouncing it "jiggly", just because.

online gift registries
let's just say i am having way too much fun as the one-year-until-the-wedding date looms this week and it starts to sink in that yes this is for real. latest addiction: setting up gift registries. as this piece basically says, they pretty much rock.

reception site. finalized.
so in my good little bridal checklist frame-of-mind, the reception site has been booked, contract signed, deposit forked over, date and time of festivities set in stone. go me/us. onward to other issues. because if you think that since this is taken care of one can now relax, you are as mistaken as i was. there are always more things to think about and check off the checklist. a side note: if my mom's wedding dress does not fit/work for me, i have found the one i am going to sport that day instead. i will not link to it because what if c were for some reason to see it? i am not superstitious, but it would be nice for him to have some sort of surprise that day. but i am excited about finding it because it is so perfect and thought i would at least share that fact with you.

bestseller
for the first time in 3 years a book i'm working on has hit the bestseller list. which is pretty cool, though it's not as exciting as i remember it being. but i am still pleased. this seems to be a good month for me.

eddie izzard
cannot wait to see him. we have tix for a nyc show. he's just da bomb. or something.

one heck of an error page

who would have thunk it
so i am engaged. to be married. and this website is my new friend and addiction. it's incredibly weird how little work i've done this week due to phone calls and web surfing to find "venues" to "look at" this weekend. wish me luck; the budget-setting session this saturday night should be a rousing one.

so...
