I hate being internet-deprived.

Two things: I got a graphing calculator and a bank account today.

Whistler was fun! We went canoeing on Saturday, rock climbing on Sunday, up the gondola on Monday, horseback riding on Tuesday. Swimming multiple times on multiple days. Also watched many movies ...

Michael has a blog! Finally! Oh, er, I don't know how to tell you this, but you're likely not going to get a job at Subway this summer ... simply because you applied TOO LATE! They did say that you can be hired next year, but then there's IB, and with that CAS hours to complete ... sigh. Everyone is reminding me that summer vacation is drawing to an end. Argh!

Fireworks night was more or less as hectic as I expected. Everyone was there! Well, not Steven ... that's too bad. He missed out on all the fun. Yes, James, it WAS rather fun ... at least at first. Then I started getting sore and stiff from standing for 5 hours on end. That part was not so fun. But nothing a long night's sleep can't heal.

I WORKED FOR 11 HOURS THAT DAY!!! Ugghhh ... I was originally supposed to help Ying at the back with refills and stuff ... but I was put on "veggie duty" instead. There were 3 of us, I believe -- Cat, Tiff, and me. It was quite crowded behind counter; I think I was wedged in between James and Catherine most of the time. No, I don't recall any particularly annoying customers. And yes, Cat, the finger-glove-sauna effect was disgusting.

At least I got to see the fireworks, though! Cat, Michael, James, and I were granted a temporary respite and stood outside to watch. Ooo ... Mike kept teasing me about being un-tall ("Do you need to sit on our shoulders?") Grr ... he makes me mad. Immediately after fireworks, we locked the front door of the Subway because people were acting crazy ... so we closed down for about half an hour so they'd have time to calm down a mite. Scary.

Yesterday, I worked for 9 hours. Ughh. But I got to work with James for about the first time, and James is really nice. Not to mention the fact that business was really, really slow, since people were ... recuperating. Those who did come in (esp. those in the early afternoon) were all groggy and half-asleep, as if they were all suffering from hangovers ... (remember Shane, Sammo? >.<)

So James and I had a lot of free time to just sit and talk and mess around with nothing in particular. He told me about university and how it functions ... that was very interesting. I taught him how to fold paper cranes and stars ... and we left a little menagerie atop the TV as a surprise for Ying and Rosey in the morning! Hee hee hee ... yesterday was fun!

Michael! Why didn't you stop to talk after you dropped in your resume? And why did you wait in line? I thought you were going to order something! You may be hired after the fireworks period is over. ^.^ Oh, and Gary ... if you haven't had a call, it was probably because there was an influx of applicants at around the same time ... and I know very little else. Sorry. And it's harder to put in a word for you because it's been too long (grade 3 was a while ago). Er ... sorree ...

*sniff* I've missed out on so much. *shniff*

One thing I forgot to mention LAST entry was that I've completed all the IB assigned reading. Henry V is better than Chronicle of a Death Foretold.

Okay all ... the reason I haven't blogged for so long is that I cancelled our AOL 3 months free trial subscription several days ago. So now I am suffering from internet withdrawal, and it's all your fault (all you people who got me addicted)! Grrr ...

Now I am at Kensington Branch library -- Cat can testify as to how amazingly small it is. I've just made a cycle of all the blogs linked to my page, and, well, none of you have blogged very much. This is both a good and a bad thing. Bad because you're all slacking; good because then I don't miss too much. Oh, and from here, Bobby's blog doesn't show; neither do the tag boards. Why is this?

Subway is becoming routine. My third paycheque surpasses both previous ones combined! Wow ... I feel so ... wealthy. *.* And the air-conditioning has been fixed! Hooray! No more dying repeatedly from the incredible, sweltering heat! Gary, have you had a call yet? Somehow I don't tink so ... but that's partly due to the fact that lately we've had a couple of others who've dropped in resumes. I have decided I dislike chopping onions -- it makes my eyes sting. Cucumbers I like, though.

Well, that's all I can think of for now ... so I'll be blogging off. ^.^

I honestly meant to blog yesterday -- heaven knows I had enough to say -- but I promptly ran short on time after being oh-so-conveniently sidetracked by that wonderful contraption commonly known as MSN.

Thank you, those who are considering the offer of last entry: Sam, Gary ... and thanks, Bobby, for your help. Although I think you should apply too. I'm also thinking of certain others, namely Michael, Neale ...

Well, yesterday was one heck of a day at work. Busier than usual for a Thursday, and the heat was decidedly discomfiting. I believe Cat has already mentioned one lady's massive order.

There's no denying I get a wide range of customers, some more interesting than others. For instance, the 2 women who spoke only French (miraculously, I understood enough to serve them), the guy who came in ranting about World Cup results (Mike handled that one), the lady who wouldn't have anything to do with microwaves. I also get a range of customer comments. At the upper end, remarks like "that sandwich is a work of art" (yay Cat!), "thanks dear" (Lyddie will laugh, I know), and from my first customer yesterday morning, "You're a great woman." I did not know what to make of that. On the other hand, my most malicious message was a significant "are you new here?" But hey, it WAS my second day on the job. All in all, I'm not too worried.

Attention all. Employees wanted at Subway (that's downtown on Denman & Davie, English Bay). Should be available for nights of the Celebration of Light.

Well, I'm afraid I can't be much more specific than that. If any of my frequent readers are interested, just contact me. Or post on my tagboard. I can only make it for the first fireworks night, and I'm not the only one who can't make it, and they're short on workers. So please, help. ^.^

Well, Bobby, I like Dom Casmurro quite a bit better than Chronicle of a Death Foretold. It still has a disappointing ending, however -- but that's just me. And personally, I find it easier to read than Henry V, if only because our version of the play contains far too many explanatory notes. They distract me when I read, and are altogether annoying.

Sigh. I don't feel like doing anything. Yet boredom is unsavory. I will go and melodize on the piano.

Worked from 2:00 to 5:30-ish today. 3 1/2 hours ... shortest shift ever! In contrast to my last shift, which lasted for 9 hours. I punched-in a half-hour late today ... oh well. I often forget. Bah! (This seems to be catching.)

I finished Dom Casmurro several days ago, and am halfway through Henry V! I even read all the long-winded commentaries. I need a break. Has anyone ever read The Raging Quiet?

These quizzes are bizarre.

I'm not really militant. I could be cool if I tried, but I usually don't try.

THAT'S IT. I've had enough. I'm sorry, but I am not about to endure feuds like this ANY LONGER. Yes, I realize more than one issue was involved. It's all the same to me. And what's more, it all amounts to the exact same thing: communication breakdown between friends. Think what position Catherine and I are forced into, when both Samantha and Victoria refuse to speak to each other. We can't have fun in a big group anymore. We can't even HANG OUT in a group anymore. So you can't say this doesn't affect us, because it does; it affects us all. Now the tongue-lashing. How can you post on a tag-board, post on a blog, and expect it not to include the rest of us? I'm sorry, this has gone on FAR too long, and frankly, I am SICK of it.

Samantha. Although I find your reasoning more sound than Victoria's, I also find your weakness ... namely, pride. Even before, I don't remember you asking forgiveness -- it was Victoria every time. And when apologies go unheeded, eventually a person gets fed up. No, I don't know all that troubles you. You never told me. I do know that you were mad at Victoria for inviting us to her place, then spending most of her time with Neale. You haven't talked to her since. Wasn't I there with you? Sam, it's NOT a big deal. FORGIVE. And FORGET. Just because you are justified, doesn't mean you are right. You'll be happier if you let go of the grudges.

Victoria. I believe Sam expects you to know what you've done. I'm sure you haven't told me everything. Apologize ... if you haven't already done so. And if you have, well, apologize again. Even if your apology is rejected, at least the problem will no longer be yours. I did tell you, didn't I, that "the wound had almost healed." Ergo, the hypocrite thing wasn't so tasteful; it wasn't the wisest thing you ever did. Obviously, it served to re-open the conflict ... but are you any closer to RESOLVING it?

Victoria, apologize again. Be honest, be specific as to what set Sam off. And Samantha, I'd like you to accept her apology. Both of you have explaining, and apologizing, to do. Do this ... for yourselves and for me.
