I really hope that I have unravelled CHEM by now. I thought the homework wouldn't be very difficult, so I left it till last night after practice (so, so cliche)! But then I settled down to it and went, "Wha ..?" The sub we had for last class wasn't very helpful ... I got the feeling she didn't know what she was doing (as Cat would say, those who can't do, teach). Oi ... but I think I have a good grasp on it all now.
I was very sleepy at school yesterday ... I kept yawning in class, and it didn't matter which class it was ... I see the beginnings of sleep deprivation.

I am no longer in summer mode. It's hard to believe this is basically the first week of school ... looks like IB just plunged us into the deep end of things. This is so sad. Summer seems so far away ...

Hmmm ... did anything of note happen today? Uh ... we had grade assemblies, which means one block of EN missed. I also read that Henry V history sheet and I've decided that the War of the Roses is too confusing! I've done TOK vocab, thank goodness (Michael, I can't believe you actually found the definition of "existential airbrushes")! FR is done too; have yet to do MA, but hopefully that won't take long.
Ah! FDS field study at Granville Island Wednesday after next. I really hope it won't be the same thing our Home Ec class did in grade 8. That was boring. And Foods is kinda weird. Bah! At least I know people now. The field trip will mean missing a BIO class ... uh-oh.
IB Retreat -- hold it, I mean "Conference" -- next week! Whee! Whistler overnight ... again! Maybe we can go horseback riding and rock climbing once more. What did you guys vote for?

Oro! So far I have only 5 1/2 hours of CAS, and I don't know how to get it all verified ... and the English quiz (which Mrs. Densford UNINTENTIONALLY referred to as an EXAM) wasn't all that hard ... except I didn't get the bonus question right: How is the Welsh "LL" pronounced? Grr ... I guessed "FF" but it was actually "FL" ... errr. And WAIT a minute -- what was the first word I used in this paragraph???
Dr. Gabbott told us about IB today. About the 2-year committment, the overflowing course load, the lack of time, the self-study, the gruelling exam period, the stress, the suffering, the pain, the slow death ... *sob* I am not going to survive. Now I am absolutely TERRIFIED. What have I gotten myself into?
So far, I have 3 HUGE textbooks for History SL and 2 big textbooks for Chemistry SL, not to mention the lesser texts and the ones we haven't gotten yet ... *sniff* One of our Chem texts is MASSIVE and unbelievably HEAVY -- oh, wait, that would be the one for first-year university we're going to use! And that's only for Standard Level! What will happen in Bio Higher Level?? *waaaaahh*
Oh, and we have homework already. I really should go. :(

I can't BELIEVE they messed up my schedule AGAIN. Grr ... how can they put me in Chemistry 12? And twice in the same block, too? It makes no sense!! At least I DO have a working timetable from the IB office, unlike last year ... grrr. Now I have no idea what to do to get it fixed. It's not like Mrs. Morgan is there all the time, or even half the time!
I also can't BELIEVE that we have a test on Henry V in English class TOMORROW. That is SO EVIL. We were supposed to read it over the summer, and I DID, but I finished it A WHILE AGO. Now I have to go over it AGAIN. Gah, Shakespeare. And Mrs. Densford. And Ms. Patton. Did I mention the fact that TOK makes my head swim? I don't like philosophy courses. Never thought I would.
I'm not actually that angry. Do I sound like I am? ^.^
Sammo has a new layout! Hamtaro is like the cutest thing ever! Heeheehee! And James and Mike BOTH tagged! Wheee! And James, I don't suppose you could actually BE our chauffeur, could you? ^.^ Wheeeee!

I wonder when we can begin collecting CAS hours ... must be 5 well-deserved ones today, at least. My grade 8s are funny! Well, one of them is really shy, and another is mini-David Li!! Aagh! But nicer, of course. We were short on time, but that wasn't exactly my fault. I started out with 9 charges, then 5, then 11, then 10, then 7. Something like that. So it was kinda confuzzling, especially since A-team people kept coming in (WHY was the door locked?) and trying to sort things out (thanks, guys). Now I can see why teachers get stressed. I would SO hate to teach high school ... students are so cynical. I prefer little kids.
Aww, James, you sound so sad! UBC can't be that bad, can it? It can't be worse than IB, can it? There there *pat pat* Hey, I'll try to visit you at Subway ... if you don't mind me not actually buying anything and being a general nuisance. ^.^

School starts tomorrow so I am going to stay online for a longer time than usual ... (seriously, that excuse can go a long way)! Hmm ... added a few new links to my page ... otherwise I'm really not doing much here. Grade 11s are only supposed to be at school for an hour in homeroom, but since I'm on Link Crew, I have to stay for virtually the whole day! Gah! Plus I need to go and review all the activities and transitions and procedures ... all I can say is, my grade 8s had better not give me any trouble! Eh, well, it should be fun anyway.
Just talked to James on MSN! Wow, he's spontaneous ... thanks for posting! And Justin's birthday was on August 19th -- I didn't know that. No more Subway for me! AHAHAHA! But to be honest, I'd rather work there a little longer than go to school tomorrow.
Michael, do you know your classes? Or were you one of the lucky few who had no mistakes on their timetables? Anyway, I'll see you all tomorrow!

I didn't need to work today. Hurrah! But I may need to tomorrow, and it's the day before school starts! That's not so good. I hope it will be overcast and extremely unbusy at Subway, so I won't have to go. As it is, my working tomorrow will be primarily weather-dependent.
So I've only worked with Justin once. He's fun to work with, like James ... is that why I'm slightly disappointed? Ah, well. I do hope Michael got the money I owe him. I pinned it up on the "rack". Grrr ... being indebted to someone is not fun.
Subway was fun, though. It was a good experience, and I got the chance to meet some very nice people, a few whom I intend to keep in touch with (is that even an articulate sentence?). Yes, I am ruminating. But school starts in a day, so shoot me!
