I will remain, for the sake of drying your tears Today, as I peer out from a hilltop As beautiful as the rain letting up, your tears make your heart transparent
We are living in bewilderment The soft song of love cannot reach us I just want to protect you, enclosed in loneliness, your heart trembling with sorrow
I promise everything I would risk everything I would lose everything
The days when your smile shone so radiantly The love we share, the eye of the storm For the rest of my days

Prof Jerome cancelled last Friday's ENGL 225 lecture in favour of a class excursion to the Buchanan Penthouse, fifth floor. Guest speaker -- Dana Gioia, chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts.

The name sounded vaguely familiar, but I couldn't quite place it. Not until he recited his poem "Planting a Sequoia" -- at which I was pummeled back into all the high-strung tension of Paper I of the IB English exam.

Heh. Actually, compared to everything else (except maybe French), the English exam was effectively low-tension. Anyway. Buchanan Penthouse is a nice place; reminds me of some kind of upper-level greenhouse.

And English remains my most interesting course.

Joyeux Noel et Bonne Annee a tout le monde!

I know: that life is good.
I want: 6 feet of snow tonight! Then maybe universities will grant us an extra week of holidays!
I have: infinite mass, ergo infinite momentum, ergo infinite energy ... therefore I am a black hole :D
I hate: physics, I suppose.
I don't: want to start getting up early again!
I can't: brake when I ice skate, unless I let friction run its course.
I will: study harder and procrastinate less this term than last (yeah right).
I won't: fall behind on text readings ever again (yeah right).
I miss: you ... you know who you are.
I fear: failure.
I feel: kind of airy and wispy and spring-breezy.
I also feel: somewhat tired.
I hear: Paul Baloche's "Offering".
I smell: winter air.
I crave: an iced vanilla frappucino (yes, even in this weather).
I regret: very little.
I dream of: the future 4 or 5 years from now.
I long: to fly ...
I care: although it might appear as if I don't.
I always: sing best when no one is listening?
I am not: demanding.
I believe: in balance and variety.
I play: guitar chords on the piano.
I trust: those who are trustworthy; simple enough.
I live: above a Japanese and Korean restaurant complex.

Just checked my grades on the SSC ... and only 3 of them are up. But I'm doing much better than I thought! Especially in BIOL 112! (Where did all those marks come from? The final?)

I'm worried about math though ... I'm afraid I jeopoardized my A with that final, for which I really didn't study enough. It's not so bad when my aim is only to pass, but when the potential difference (eew that sounds like voltage, which reminds me of physics) is between an A and a B, things get more tense.

Two long-awaited weeks of respite!!

One thing I like about this semestered system is that each term begins clean slate. So first term doesn't carry over to second, which means I can unwind without having a long academic to-do list over the holidays. Maybe I'll even revive the habit of posting here again!

But since I haven't for so long, there's nothing much to say. Except that I've been so caught up with finals that I never realized until they were over that it's so close to Christmas!

Catherine: course-related quizzes? What a novel idea.

Sonnets
Shakespeare: Sonnets. Everyone has heard of you, and almost everybody can find something touching in you. You are calm and control yourself, even though your wisdom and your messages are no lesser than those of others.

You are Selenium, the Wonderer. You don't know your purpose yet, and you're inclined to think that you don't have one. You ask a lot of questions starting with "Why" and "What if," but you rarely get a satisfying answer. Maybe someday you'll find your place.

What Chemical Element Are You?

Water
You are water. You're not really organic; you're neither acidic nor basic, yet you're an acid and a base at the same time. You're strong willed and opinionated, but relaxed and ready to flow. So while you often seem worthless, without you, everything would just not work. People should definitely drink more of you every day.

On a side note, I ate a Ferrero Rocher chocolate this morning with no hazelnut in the middle! Not that I mind, since I don't actually like nuts, but still. It's the principle of the thing.
