Superb Chinaman (pronounced as Chinar-man)

Don't you just love it when an asian runner beats the hell outta 7 other black runners in the finals? Kudos to Liu Xiang from China who had just won the 110m hurdles finals!

Being the 2nd fastest qualifier, he was placed in lane 4 and i swear.. nobody expected him to win the race. It was even evident in the commentator's comments, which gravitated towards the prediction of a tough fight between lanes 3-6.

When the race was abt to start, the only American in the race just had to false start. Not a surprise there, huh? He shot up even before the gun started.

ok let's not digress, back to our superb chinaman..

Now, that dude ran a freakin AWESOME race. when the gun went off, he was, without any doubt, the first off the blocks and he did so with an amazingly explosive and forceful start. And there he went, charging across the obstacles. every single hurdle was overcame with outstandingly solid aggression and swiftness. goodness, you shld've seen it.

He beat the others flat by more than a metre. His timing of 12:19 became the new olympic record.

Applause people, applause.

Okay, i've just spent the last 2 hours lazing on the couch watching the olympics, from taekwondo to diving to athletics. managed to catch a few hotties. I shall list them now in random order..

1) Christopher Kalec (canadian diver. apparently, he plays in a band too!)
2) Danny Ecker (german pole vaulter)
3) 15 yr old Bryan Nickson (malaysian diver. he's gonna grow up really handsome)

okay, those are the only ones whose names i remember. :P

Last 3 sentences before i click "Done!":
i'm amazed India's Women 4x400m!
TKD is a crappy martial art and it looks ugly.
I'm wondering, are they allowed to use their arms to block the opponent's kicks?
Incubus rocks.

fine, that was 4. five now. six. seven! oh stop.

Inspired.

Is it me, or is everyone getting into the studying mood? i know school has finally seeped in but seriously, i walk along the corridor of my floor from the shower back to my room and i see peeps mugging as if their exams are just around the corner.

They're scaring me.

But honestly, I feel myself getting into the mood as well. caught myself doing some serious psych readings last night. interesting reads, yeah.

anyways, i just returned from developmental psych tutorial. my tutor is the lecturer himself, John Elliot. Thankfully. funny old chap, really. hmm. learning new stuffs about humankind and being exposed to the possible myths and misconceptions of the larger population makes me feel slightly privileged to be one of the minority. *beams* no offence here, people.

I thought my passion for psychology has dwindled over the past year. after all, studying too much of something you love sometimes makes you lose interest in it (okay, i'll try to be objective. so i'm gonna add that, this, of course, doesn't apply to everyone). not that i've lost interest in psychology but the enthusiasm wasn't really there for the past academic year. must be the exposure psych module which i screwed up for 2 semesters ago. or it could be the compulsory stats module that we had to take as a requirement to major in psych. Statistics is simply gross and it makes me jaded.

Well, i'm just glad to say that i feel the passion for Psychology starting to ooze in all over again. That being said, you can say that i'm truly happy with what i'm doing right now. *beams again*

Sports bash is on tonight at Chinablack. i don't even know why i'm going. the other babes are going as well.. honestly, i'm really not in a partying mood but i'll just go and chill with 'em tonight. besides, i've got fridays free.

and before i take a short nap, let me just mention how funny some guys are. my current nick on msn contains a line from the song "Kiss me" by Sixpence None The Ritcher: "alatariel - Strike up the band and make the firefllies dance.."

So this friend of mine msged me a "silver moon sparkling, so..."

hahahahaha. thing is, he was the 2nd person to do that. it's alright if you dont understand. i'm just amazed at how similar sometimes the minds of guys work. well, i thought it was cute of them though. :P

The funky old man.

earlier today, i swore under my breath during training for the first time, on the supposedly sacred do-jo, where we usually train. as frivolous as this sounds, i did feel a lil guilty and disrespectful. i mean, i don't think profanities is suitable in such places where etiquette makes up one of the biggest aspect of the whole place.

who cares, you say?

well, yes. it's prolly no big deal, really. but being the *ahem* respectful and disciplined student that i am (or hope to be), i felt like i had broken some sacred rule.

well, blame it on the silly sensei! we were told to be in a half-squat, legs apart position (which isn't exactly very comfortable) and at the same time, he made us do several air punches. he made us do it for quite some time and needless to say, my thighs hurt like a bitch. finally, just when we thought it was over and we could stand up, he said "okai, anorder fai minute."

and that was when i muttered fuck.

well, of course he was joking.

hur hur.

i couldn't help noticing how endearing sensei is though. the way his english is spoken in the cutest japanese accent, the way he uses to word "play" as a verb for sparring and kataa (martial arts display), the way his smiles and good moods get contagious...

that is truly one hell of a cool, old man.

Fistful of Colours

was talking to Gracie in my room earlier and guess who dropped by?

it was none other than Siding's Bubu. not long after, that lil lazy precious fell asleep on my mat.

geez.

today marks my first tutorial of the semester and i had to travel to Science faculty for that. i must sound really crazy but believe it or not, it feels good going for tutorials and actually having some work to do. this is what long breaks from school does to you.

i can feel work starting to slowly pour in. not at a drastic pace, fortunately. perhaps, in a few days time, yeah? after i've attended more tutorials.

i was supposed to have lunch alone during my one hr break today since i made no plans with anyone. coincidentally, i ran into chin at the co-op at 1pm and she had a lecture at 2pm as well. so we had lunch together, after which i attended my SS lecture at 2pm. that was when i realised how much i miss doing literature. sigh.

now that i think about it, i can actually be more proactive and start getting busy. only then would i feel more like a proper student. how cool is that? for starters, i can finish up 'Fistful of Colours' and read up a chapter from the Cognition book for tmrw's lecture.

Hah!

as of now, i'm extremely proud of myself for having such concientious thoughts. but i have a feeling it'll wear off soon enough, once the procrastination starts tonight.

haha. but hey, that's only normal, yah? i'm really gonna read that damn lit book anyhow. my first read by christine lim.

i have to leave for training in half an hour and im feeling a tad sleepy. yawn.

The Cutest Thing in The World

Pictures of Bubu Chan, the kitten Siding adopted. She's a baby to Bendi, the C4 cat. I borrowed her for a bit but unfortunately, she prefers to spend her time sleeping on my bed, under the rosy rag Fengyi brought.

nice and cosy.

i was in a mood to make fun of bubu under the rag. haha, doesn't she look so adorable?

This is what she looks like after a while. stupid pig :P

Men's 50m Freestyle : van den HOOGENBAND

ATHENS, 19 August - Comments from Pieter van den HOOGENBAND (NED)

On his performance:

"I have not qualified (for the 50m Freestyle), but I couldn't concentrate to be honest. I don't care because the 100m (Freestyle) was such a relief for me."

On retaining his Olympic gold medal in the 100m Freestyle:

"I woke up and thought it was a dream, but went I went to the dining room, everyone stood up, clapped and cheered, and I realised it was true. It is real."

On his training:

"I trained so hard. It was much harder here than in Sydney. To win a gold is great, but to defend it is even more important. Last night I felt an explosion of happiness."

On what will he do next:

"I am going to call my friends and go out and celebrate. I am so happy, I want to be with everyone who has helped me achieve this."

On Alexander POPOV:

"Too bad he didn't make the (50m Freestyle) finals. He is a great swimmer and deserves to be there."

yeaaahhhh!

HE did it again! Hoogenband won the 100m freestyle. i'm so thrilled, especially after he narrowly beat that other Roland guy who was leading throughout the first 150m.

Next up is 50m free, which will be held on friday night. i think he only managed to get a silver medal during the sydney olympics. That event is half speed, half luck, really. We'll see what happens, yeah.

Kudos to the swimming dutchman!

:) :) :)

Athenized.

okay, fine. so, hoogey's second. but so what, right? he seemed perfectly happy with silver. and he looked so cute, the better looking one among the three medalists. the prize presentation ceremony was funny due to thorpe's un-cool actions. did you guys see him singing and swaying to the aussie national anthem?

man. that is so gay.

alright, enough of swimming and gay-thorpe. yesterday, i didn't get around to doing the things i set out to do. yes, those little chores i was looking forward too. it's not my fault, really. blame it on the crowd and long queues at the co-op. and the warm weather and the stupid lunch crowd at the canteen.

anyways, let's all hope susilo wins later. after all, he managed to beat the world's no. 1, whose name i've never heard of before this olympics. ;)

g'day all.

hooooooogey, baby.

i'm so excited!!

in about half an hour, i will get to catch hoogenband again. YEAAAAAAAHHHHH. he's my all time favourite swimmer. i'm hoping he beats thorpe and phelps. can't wait, can't wait!

and oh, i finally managed to get my ass to training. my first training in four months.. that's was definitely rejuvenating. and to think i was actually dreading it.

after all, it takes only one big effort to start doing something you've put on hold for a long time, all over again.

anyways, cheers to hoogenband!!! ok i know he hasn't won yet. in fact, the swim hasnt even started but hey, he's the fastest qualifier in this finals.

howww about thaattt?

i'm going to rah-rah some people to catch the swimming finals in the lounge with me now.

hooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooogenband.

can i be his personal cheerleader? *choke a laugh* okok. ill buzz off.

I'm constipated and I don't giva shit.

hahaha. i like that. got that somewhere, i can't remember.

anyways, i'm too hyped up right now. i'm typing furiously on my keyboard due to the bombardment of msn messages, plus my attempt to type this entry. at the back of my mind, i know i'm tired. but hey, it's only 2am yeah? the night it still young. besides, my next lecture class isn't until 2pm tmrw.

i'm kinda looking forward to tomorrow. surprisingly, i'm looking forward to the little chores lined up for tmrw, first of which, is to deposit some cash (ive always loved doing that, contrary to my tendency of doing otherwise). then, there's going to the NUS co-op to get some wrapping paper. going to the co-op makes me a lil happier. must be the snacks. oh and the textbooks, of course.

anyhows, i went to catch doubleyellowline today at the substation. it rocked. all the bands did pretty good. i especially enjoyed MTE's performance and no, i ain't saying this because they're my friends. really, they did good. this isn't coming from one who judges good music and perfection through technical aspects of music. all i do is listen and if it sounds good enough, then it is good enough. simple as that, baby.

a certain someone passed me a belated birthday present today. as much as i'd like to say more, i really can't. like what i told lin, if i were a third party, i'd love to see a happy ending, after everything the guy does. imagine a scenario -- guy tries hard, with his undying love to win the girl back and in the end, he finally succeeds and she falls for him all over again.

sweet, isn't it?

well, not when i'm the girl. i feel awful for him. i'm sorry. if it was any other girl, i'd love for her to go back to you. but not me, i can't.

i know i'm hurting you bad but i can't make myself do something i don't wanna do. nonetheless, a big thanks for the presents and most importantly, your huge effort in putting everything together. for what it's worth, i love and appreciate them.

thanks, zak.

on a brighter note, i've seen and heard a couple of things today that's worth quoting. for one, there's KC's shirt. i couldnt keep my eyes of it while they were performing.

"Ladies required. Suspension Testing." with a picture of a vehicle.

there's also a hilarious g-string one but i'm too lazy. so g'night, folks.

p.s. a big thanks to lin&bro for sending me back to dorm. :)

11:26 p.m.

Margie has pretty pink curtains.

i'm currently in the room and my poor, sick sister is sound asleep on her bed. i'm now using this com at the risk of getting the virus from her, something i'd rather avoid because vomitting isn't really the best feeling in the world. but i just couldnt resist switching on the com instead of going to sleep.

i caught The Notebook at PS with Margie and her cousin, Tanya this afternoon. it was not too bad, although definitely a far cry from the book. they made a couple of changes here and there too, of course. i thought allie was rather different from the one in the book. she's a lot more lively and playful in the movie. then again, it's been such a long time since i last read the book, my memory might not be serving me well. the movie was sweet nonetheless.

fate works in mysterious ways, don't you think? no, i'm not talking abt the storyline in The Notebook or anything. i'm talking abt me. me, and what happened on my way home. Now that i think about it, i realise i'm just dramatising things yet again. what happened has got nothing to do with fate, i'm just being a drama queen.

so what happened, you ask?

oh, i merely ran into Y. now, i sound like lavinia, using initials instead of names. well this i do for a reason you'll find out later. well, Y is a senior in Eusoff. i ran into her at city hall while waiting for my train home. coincidentally, she was meeting a friend in Tampines.

so we had a chat. abt things, abt hall, abt hall commitments, abt some people and no, it was nowhere near gossip. i've always found it easy to talk to Y, even though we're not the closest of friends. i kinda mentioned the doubts i felt recently abt going for the head position of comm A (just like Y's name, i shan't disclose the name of the comms in case some big-mouthed people happen to stumble here) and i told her what i've always wanted to do, which is to head the comm B instead. heading comm B was something i wasn't allowed to do because i already have the sub-comm E to handle, WHICH doesn't really make sense because from what i gather and from the recent news of comm A being promoted to a major-intermediate comm, comm A workload is definitely going to be much heavier than that of comm B. furthermore, i'm more familiar with the works of the comm B since i was a member last year.

confusing, isn't it? 's alright, you don't have to understand, im just here to rant anyways.

Y told me to just go ahead and do what i really want although she knows i'm rather concerned about displeasing some people, since i had already unofficially agreed to head comm A. urgh, i'm too nice.. really.

i think she's right and i will take her advice. i don't think you'll be seeing this, but thanks Y. i'm going to do what i want to do and i don't care about the repurcussions of it. drop me out of comm E if you please but you know you'll be losing one hell of a good member.

oh my, i did not just say that.

i would love to type more but i feel an ache making its way through my head. i hope it isn't the virus frm my sister's sickness. i'm sure this headache psychological.

hmm.. what headache?

i am not falling ****. no, no. no.

Man, I feel like a woman.

that song rocks, no matter how much i listen to it.

anyways...

it's been a while. with regards to the previous entry, i am glad and proud to say that we, eusoffians, emerged champions for the NUS Rag and Flag 2004. we won, we won, WE WON!! *background music: Queen's 'We are the Champions'*

All hail to Eusoff.

well, that was last saturday. it feels different blogging that down now because it's almost old news but i just had to anyways. a "victory bash" was held on the night itself at centro. needless to say, the music at centro was BAD. the company was good though. so all was fine. rag pictures will be up soon... which brings to mind, i realise my pictures links are missing. i omitted them out on purpose. for some strange reason, i don't feel like having my imagestation links. currently, i kinda like my blog plain and, if possible, link-less. as you've probably already noticed, i can be a little fickle-minded at times and that explains why i keep changing my blogskin.

reading through what i've just typed in this entry, i feel a tad disappointed with how boring my entries can get. but then, i tell myself this is my space and i can have whatever i want here. you don't like it, you know what to do. LEAVE. *grr*

the things i do to comfort myself.. tsk. i've been following The Simple Life 2: Road Trip. this 2nd season is definitely a lot more entertaining than the first. at least, you hate them a lot lesser 'cause they're so funny, especially nicole. i like the way she goes "how old are you?" whenever she meets anyone from the male species.

20 - "That's legal."
13 - "That's hot."
24 - "Perfect."

that was in the first season though, i think. as notorious as she is, she's real hilarious. oh, and seeing paris hilton run was the ultimate hilarity. oh my god, i never knew such way of running really exists. makes me wonder if she was faking it. i really doubt so though cos she should've known how ridiculous she looked running like that. on a better note, paris is definitely the nicer (and of course, prettier) one among the two during the road trip.

they're still as dumb though.

TSK. ren han just popped by my room, im guessing he's on his way to lorraine's room. i think he probably attempted to try something different instead of the usual "RAR!" that can make any girl scream. instead, he just peeked through the curtains and stuck his head in my door silently and i gotta admit that did give me a scare that was very well masked. damn these nerves.

i feel like being home just so i could go for a spin.. which isn't really possible anyway because my dad is working. had the car to myself the whole of last weekend plus monday 'cause parents were overseas and that felt good.

i am going to take a much needed nap. night, fellas.

"Time will show thou art deserving
As the years roll by still more
With our loyalty unswerving
Eusoff to the fore."

How's the air up there?

it's tonight.. tonight tonight tonight.
it's later.
in a few hours.
woooot.
walk like you're using your legs.
i'm excited and a little anxious.

well, a lot, actually. but im excited anyways. i shouldn't really blog any more of these down cos it's making me more anxious.

chill, everything'll turn out just fine.

to clover: i'm sorry your door tag is missing. damn that jackass who stole it!
