New Design With Graphics
Monday, September 6, 2004 09:45 p.m.
I made adjustments today on the design and the look of this page. This is the result of the sef-study I made on how to code using HTML. Also, I added pictures from other web sources. I did the design for the background using the MS Paint. I called it mydesign.jpg. At first I thought this will not work but, after updloading it to my my account in www.flickr.com, I was able to use it here. The design is a simple doodle--smileys. The background is white with the smileys drawn in gray.
Just a picture

Protect yourself from junk e-mail
Saturday, September 4, 2004 09:41 p.m.
Here is a portion of the many helpful tips from MSN Hotmail on how to protect yourself from junk e-mail. Please click the the title above to read more.
Be aware!
Protect yourself from junk e-mail.
Be careful about disclosing your e-mail address
Some spammers gather (or harvest) address lists from websites where you may have signed up for a free offer, ordered something online, or entered a contest. Harvesters may also use web bots, programs that will search for e-mail addresses on Internet white pages, job postings, newsgroups, and chat rooms. If your e-mail address is posted for all to see, then you are particularly vulnerable to junk e-mail.
So, follow these tips whenever you can:
- Set up an e-mail account dedicated solely to Web transactions -- for example, an MSN Hotmail account. Share your primary e-mail address only with people you know. Avoid listing your e-mail address in large Internet directories and job-posting websites. Don't even post it on your own website.
- Watch out for pre-checked boxes. When you buy things online, companies sometimes add a checkbox (pre-checked!) to indicate that it's fine to sell or give your e-mail address to other businesses (third parties).
- Click the check box to clear it so your e-mail address won't be shared.
- Disguise (or munge) your e-mail address when you post it to a newsgroup, chat room, or bulletin board, or other public places. For example, you could give your e-mail address as "s0me0ne@example.c0m" using the number zero instead of the letter "O." This way, a person can interpret your address, but the automated programs that spammers use cannot.
Tip Consider creating an e-mail name (and address) that's difficult to harvest but still memorable. Try a combination of letters, numbers, and other characters -- for example, 3uan_gard3n@example.com (where "3" stands in for "E") or J0e_Y0ng@example.com (substitute zero for the letter "O").
Dictionary attack!
Spammers, in their constant search for valid e-mail addresses, use special software programs that rapidly submit millions of random e-mail addresses -- for example, someone@example.com, someone2@example.com, s_one@example.com, some_one@example.com, and so on -- to target e-mail computers, such as those at MSN Hotmail. This is known as a dictionary attack. Invalid e-mail accounts bounce e-mail back to the sender, so the software very rapidly records which e-mail addresses are active and which are not.
Don't be fooled!
- Be on the lookout for spoofed e-mail. Spoofing refers to the practice of tricking the recipient into thinking an e-mail message is coming from a familiar person or organization. Unscrupulous individuals use them to trick people into downloading something which could contain a virus, or sending personal information, such as a credit card number or password. These spoofed messages may so realistically imitate the company, that they can deceive even the most sophisticated computer users. See how realistic a spoof can be.
- Always treat e-mail attachments with caution, even from someone you know. Simply opening an attachment could release any malicious virus it contained. If you cannot confirm with the sender that a message is valid and that an attachment is safe, delete the message and its attachment. (If you must open an attachment that you're less than sure about, save it so your antivirus software can check it before you open it.)
- Never, ever buy anything from spam mail. Spammers can make their living (and a good one, too) on people's purchases of their offerings. Resist the temptation to buy their products (and help them find another line of work). This has the added bonus of keeping you off more lists.
- Don't contribute to a charity based on a request in e-mail. Unfortunately, some spammers prey on your good will. If you receive an e-mail appeal from a charity, treat it as spam. If it is a charity you would like to support, call them to find out how you can make a contribution.
- Don't forward chain e-mail messages because you may be furthering a hoax, and you lose control over who sees your e-mail address. Additionally, there are reports that spammers start chain letters expressly to gather e-mail addresses. To check the legitimacy of a chain letter or potential hoax, go to Hoaxbusters.
Looking For Kidney Donor & Letters
Thursday, September 2, 2004 10:42 p.m.
“HEALTH IS WEALTH.” That is what they always say and that’s what we will always hear even after your lifetime and mine. I will not explain further what this means to us. Just visit the hospitals, medical clinics or ask a very sick person or any members of his family. If you will also check the expenditures governments are spending for treating and caring of the sick. They are worth more than billions dollars. The medical industries as well as the medical insurance businesses are worth billions of dollars too. If that doesn’t convince you then, I have no other way to explain it.
On the personal level, how much money one has to spend for medicines, doctor’s and hospital fees excluding, the other related expenses for being ill. Of course the time wasted but, the most tragic thing is that you can not do the things you want to do which you normally enjoy doing.
Why am I bringing this? As I mentioned in my yesterday’s post, I have an officemate who is very sick right now! He is suffering from kidney failure—they termed it as “Renal Failure” (Means the kidneys have failed suddenly, often due to a toxin (a drug allergy or poison) or severe blood loss or trauma.). He has only 8 to 20% of his kidney functioning well. He is having a Dialysis now. He will be going home to the Philippines soon. The only way he can survive is to undergo a kidney transplant operation where his useless kidney will be replaced by a healthy kidney from a donor. Or, GOD curing him; whom we ordinary humans call it as miracle, for which non-believers say magic, and for the true believers say, Love of GOD.
As miracle might or might not happen as soon as possible or unexpectedly befalling him, I would like to help him in the best way an ordinary guy can do. Being an ordinary guy, who just happen to be like everyone else, whose pockets have big holes, whose ATM card is more of a display than an ATM card, whose bank account just have two digits written as a balance—where the supposed money just gets recorded and then pass by faster than you can imagine, I am posting this appeal in behalf of my officemate:
FOR THOSE VERY EXTRA ORDINARY HUMANS WITH KIND SOULS, HEARTS, MOST ESPECIALLY TO THOSE WHO HAVE A VERY HEALTHY KIDNEYS WHO ARE WILLING TO SHARE AND LET GO PART OF THIS VITAL ORGAN.
My officemate needs a kidney donor so he will live. He also needs your prayers, letters or anything that will give him more strength to go on living each day under this very trying time.
SO, if anyone reads this, even if you are just like me, you can help. Please let me know by writing in the comments portion or in the e-mail section, just below this entry. Your letters if not your kidney is very important at his point for a guy going through an extremely difficult time. Likewise, if you have any information where he can find a suitable donor anywhere, please let me know as well. Your letters and this posting are one of the many ways we ordinary guys can help. Just hoping that through the Internet donors will be found.
Thank you for your kindness.
Etc. etc…
Going back to being an ordinary guy, I am wondering if the bank makes money on me, with all the expenses in maintaining my so-called bank account. Anyhow, just want to thank them. At least I can still feel that I am living and part of the 21st century. With their monthly statements sent to my home through the slow mail, my neighbor still thinks that I have something kept in the bank. That is if he/she thinks that the mail is not a bill for a loan or credit card.
Again, I would like to repeat “HEALTH is WEALTH”. Never mind how the thoughts of this posting are arranged or the way this is written as compared to what you normally reads, just bear with me. Remember, I am just an ordinary guy.
DIalysis:
When kidneys can no longer perform above 15% of their full capacity, dialysis is a life-saving treatment that provides some of the functions done by healthy kidneys. If you—or someone you know—have end stage renal disease (ESRD) and must begin dialysis, the information in this section will provide valuable insight on dialysis procedures, what to expect when living on dialysis, and how to stay as healthy as possible.
New Design
Thursday, September 2, 2004 03:48 a.m.
This is the new and second design of this page. Slowly, I am learning the tricks of HTML. As you can see I have chnaged the appearance totally; the colors, fonts and of course the codes inside. I have found out that there were so many useless codes inside on my old page. Now this is working and loading faster. I know, there are still improvement in this, hopefully. If i can read all the materials available.
Today, I learned that the structure of HTML codes are:
I am progressing very well and already know what these codes mean and what they doon the page.
Again, less sleep for the night. Anyhow, this is worth it.

New Look
Friday, August 13, 2004 12:17 p.m.
Today is another fruitful and satisfying day for me. I am able to solve my problem of fonts and colors. As you can see, my page now is getting okey. Thanks to the front page; was able to find solution there.
My next target of discovery and learning is how to make this page look like a real web page, with graphics, photos, and many other things. Hope this will look cool.
Common sense, patience, desire to create something and of course, the most important time helps me produce this.
Good luck to me again. LOL
Cut and Paste
Thursday, August 12, 2004 02:52 p.m.
This is a very fruitful day for me. I was able to change my display on this page. I am so happy, my page has now a different look. As the appearance of the page changed, so did the fonts in my entries. Because I just did a cut and paste of HTML codes, somehow the fonts and color changed from green to black. Now, after so many trial and error, I still could not find the lines and codes to correct this.
I know, I will be able to change this. With my enthussiam? HA ha ha......
Today
Wednesday, August 11, 2004 10:28 p.m.
I am now playing around with the changes in the appearance of this BLOG. I've tried to change the HTML codes, the colors and many other things. Somehow, I was able to change the fcolor of the fonts, the date and time now appear on each entry.
That was a big achievement for me. Just for your information, I slept 5:00 am working on this BLOG. THis is really engrossing, for me.
This is a very good inspirational quote.
'In the course of living, many people are disappointed when others do not live up (or down) to their expectations. In order to be happy, some expectations must be dropped. These unrealistic and unhealthy expectations are three of the main culprits. 1. Do not EXPECT appreciation. When others say "Thank You", or in any way show their gratitude, be happy. It is a gift! 2. Do not EXPECT others to make you happy. They simply can not do that. Make yourself happy and share your joy with others. 3. Do not EXPECT NOT to be let down. At times, people will simply not come through for you in a the way you need. Forgive them and move on. Get rid of these three expectations and you will be getting rid of daily disappointment!'

The Very First
It's kinda funny. I am rather lost with how this thing works. But, this looks interesting ang challenging for me. I know, and I said to mysel, I will be able to master this, sooner or later. How I wish this is a one click affair and BLOG. Maybe I got used to our present time of click and click. Am I the only one here, looking stupid and ignorant?
