Because i'm too tired to make a proper entry, and i like doing pointless quizzes XP Oh, Claire, thanks for all the sweet things you said about me in your blog *smile* Well, maybe i shouldn't be surprised, seeing what a lovely person you are :) 6th should be fine... Will have to ask my parents if we have any prior appointments first, but it should be okay, i think ^_^
You're Lady Kikyou. She's strong and supportive, she's spiritual and giving. Naturally a good fighter as well.
Like the internet? Both Lain (from "Serial Experiments Lain") and you seem to have the motto that the computer can connect you to another world and that you can become a different person when connected.
You are a descriptive writer. An avid reader of Robert Frost, perhaps, you LOVE to use flowery words and use the paper and pen as your canvas and paintbrush. You prefer to paint a mental image rather than simply toy around with people's minds. A very inspired person, you love to be in nature and usually are a very outdoorsy type of person. A writer with a natural green thumb, perhaps?
You are a Day Dreamer..
Daydreamers tend to be away from the normal, and have a deeper aspect when looking at things. Most of the time, thier outcasts of the social society, but don't worry. It just means your so deep it scares thier simple little brains.
Went to watch Shanghai Knights in the late afternoon as a family. Not too bad, for that genre. Some of the references or in-jokes were nice or funny. After that we had dinner at Mac Donalds - not exacttly the typical CNY meal, is it? *lol* My family has a 'tradition' of going to and doing mundane places and things on festive days. Guess it's partly because all our relatives aren't here, so the reunion dinners are just... us ^^
Back to McD's. The girl at the table next to ours was trying to narrate the first LoTR film to her parents while my family was off ordering food. She more or less got the story right, but i kept wanting to jump in and correct her when she got something wrong or missed out something. Like when she said "Then Strider took them to the elf place..." in my head i was going Rivendell! It's called Rivendell! She refered to Saruman as "a wise person". Okay, perhaps he is, but perhaps wizard would have been more appropriat? Likewise calling the palantir a glass ball ^^ And she thought that the goblins in the Mines of Moria were orcs! And that the troll was the leader of the orcs o_0; Cannot fanthom how she got that idea... She pronounced Arwen as "Ah-wen", which vaguely irritated me, for some reason. ~sigh~ i think i have a problem... Am becoming obssessive LoTR fan XP
A few of the quizzes on Chris' and Claire's pages, and a few others:
You fancy Galadriel! She's mysterious and beautiful, not to mention powerful (forget about that cheesy scene in the movie. That SO did not happen in the book).
... ;_; Why? WHY? i think i took this before, actually, but couldn't remember what answers i put. But WHY the nancing one? *gets slaughtered by the flouncing fairy's fangirls*
innocent kiss - you're cute and sweet and like it that way
Okay, moving on to today's list of things i aprreciate ^_^
1. My family and friends :)
2. Brownie! XD
3. Flowers. My mom put a pot of narcissus on my dresser. It smells lovely *happy smile* i love flowers, especially Spring flowers.
4. My computer *hugs it* Eventhough it's cranky at times (like it's owner ;P) i can't live without it ^o^
5. Being lucky enough to have been able to meet people who've been kind to me despite my problems. You always hear or read about people who are 'different' being shunned or picked on my 'normal' ones at school... Thankfully it was never like that for me.
Yup, the season of oranges, bakwah and angpows is here again... Doesn't feel terribly excitng now, not like when we were little... But then the same can be said for most festivals :/ Quite sad... if at 18 i'm already so disenchanted, i fear what the future self will be. Last year Shuli said something that struck me: i'm going to choose to be happy. It sounds so simple... Is it really? i don't know. i've been trying to become more positive since then, but it's definitely not easy. So i've decided, to counteract all the complaining/ griping/ pessimism, each day i'll try and list 5 items/events that i'm grateful for. Wanted to start it yesterday, but i forgot ^^;
Hmm, what happened last CNY? *thinks* Oh, that was the day i made the fateful decision to help CG Fallen ^o^ heh, earlier yesterday (Fri), i got myself into another collab, this time with one of the artists from rendo, psychodan (nope, there's no relation to psychoboy XD Funny coincedence about the nicknames ^^) He's going to CG my ladykiller pic (sorry, no file uploaded to view) and i'm going to draw a pic of him and SpiderDan. Began roughly blocking out the figures earlier.
Argh, very sleepy... Am literally dozing off as i type, so i'd better sign off. Perhaps i'll post more in the morning ^^
Some of the more noteworthy things or events that happened during the period of 18-29th of January. Haven't actually done much physically, except lie around and get stuck with needles... *cough* not in a Freudian sense, of course. Anyone who thought that can just frop me a line, and i'll use it to dangle them upsidedown from my window *angelic smile* Too brain dead to write in proper prose, so i'll just list everything haphazardly :)
Highlight of last week was going over to Chris' house with Claire for the LoTR fest on Thursday :D Already a week ago ^^ Time passes so fast... It was great to meet up in person again. Can't wait for the WC Anime marathon *grin* If i survive the Japanese test...
Grand Openings Chris has a blog! *grin* Her entries put me to shame XD They're so well written! *hug* Hope you feel better today. Nothing anyone can say will really help, i suppose... but if you need people to talk to or be distracted by, you know where to go :) At least modern communication systems make the world a bit smaller...
Opened a page at deviantArt. Had thought of joining there some time last year, but ended up in rendo instead. At least i'll be able to comment on Mae and Si Ying's art there by joining ^_^
Downloaded Texas' "Put Your Arms Around Me". An old song, but i love the tune. Hardly download songs... hate sifting through all the annoying pop up windows. Could d/l Kazaa, but too lazy. Also worried it might do something funny to my comp. Got a lot of important (well, important to me) data inside ^^ My favourite verse:
Are you ready, maybe
Do you long to confess?
Do you feel that you're already lost?
Are you sure of yourself?
Would you lie if you're not?
hmm, what else? Oh, we're out of the squash courts for the Chinese brush painting class. Thank goodness. Really, a squash court, of all places ^^; Wasn't the most convenient either; had to walk down a long flight of stairs to reach it, which is not very good if you're laden with art materials.
Of course, there was the infamous sleep study... more like a study in sleepnessless. Don't worry, i won't rant about it anymore :P
Jusr remembered... a really good artist named Ryan contacted me a few weeks ago, think he saw my rendo gallery, and wanted to do a collab. After discussing ideas, he said he'd illustrate the 1st chapter of Sakura Petals *^-^* He sent me a rough version of the first page. It's a bit different from what i'd envisioned, but it's so... *runs out of words* Check out his page, he does amazing art! i feel really honoured that he wanted to work on some of my stuff...
Random Notes
Claire: Glad to see you're still excited about teaching! Think you'll be great :) Enthusiasm is sadly missing in many teachers ^^ And you are *not* by any means a lousy friend! So hobbit out of it XD
Got an unexpected e-mail from Emil, saying he'd come across my sites ^^ *waves* Not sure if you'll see this, but hi anyway ^_^
Not what i expected... okay, i had no expectations to begin with :P Am likewise glad that it wasn't the flouncing flower fairy like in the other quiz XP
Getting late, so i'd better sign off. heh, if this was last year, i'd already be going down for breakfast XD
Finally came back from the stupid sleep study, almost 3 days after i left for NUH. Mind you, it was only supposed to be for one night, or possibly 2 at the most, but i could go home during the day and return at night. Hah. Ended up staying 2 entire days, and most of today.
Think that they'd actually wanted me to stay another night, but my doctor saw how pissed i was and let me be discharged... Well, most people wouldn't be too happy if they'd had to stay in a warm, noisy, dim ward, opposite a baby with a tendency to scream loudly when bored or uncomfortable, and being perpetually interrogated and stared at by medical students. And i was not pleased that i'd have to have an IA (intra arterial) line done. Would have been alright with it - it can't really be helped, i suppose, since that's the only way they could monitor the blood gases.
What really set me off was that the doctor who was supposed to insert the IA missed the artery. My dad had speciically requested that a doctor do t, not the houseman, to prevent this from happening again. Yes, it's happened before... not only for arteries either... But that's another long story. She missed, not once but twice! Third time's a charm, perhaps. Thank God for local anasthesia. No... i wasn't really angry at that point yet. Annoyed, but still fairly okay. But instead of spending all their money on renovaions, the health institute might be better advised to invest it in teaching their staff how to stick a damn needle in properly! *cough* Sorry.
The nurses or doctors were supposed to take blood samples every 2 hours or something, after i went to sleep. Woke up every time. Some sleep study. Anyway, during the second or third bleeding, the blood flow stopped. Thus the nurse decided to pump my forearm. Yes, i have a needle in my freaking artery and you're going to squeeze it firmly, repeatedly too! Jolly good move! *tight smile* I know it's what they normally do when the flow ceases, but you'd think she'd have more common sense. i don't exactly have much flesh in my arms... or anywhere else. These are the nurses working in the childrens' ICU? =_= Couldn't verbalise my discomfort because of the C-Pap machine, and couldn't signal with my other hand because there were wires all over the place - face, head, behind the ears, body, right arm. Like electrified spaghetti. At last she realised it wasn't working and stopped. Turned out a bump had developed on the artery, i think. The nurses couldn't get the flow reestablished, so they took the IA out. Henceforth, all blood samples were taken from the fingertips. At the end of my stay, all needle punctures counted, i have had 14; 6 on my left wrist, the rest on fingers of both hands. Maybe next time i should just lie down on a bed of nails so they won't have to go through all the hassle... Ranting aside, i have to concede that the staff was very nice, if not all too experianced. Most of them were impressed when they saw me drawing *lol* Though some of them thought the guys were... not ^^;
Some other things to say before i call it quits for this entry...
Chris
Was browsing through eeggs.com when i came across a Harry Potter one. Not sure if you already know about this, but thought i'd let you know :)
Thanks for being my lifeline during the awful NUH stay! Think i'd've gone insane without my handphone... and you on the other end ;) Added your blog to my Friends list, on the left ;D
Claire
*grin* Thanks for mentioning me in your blog ;P Hope your new job will be more satisfying. And i really do hope you, Chris and me can stay in touch :)
Argh, should sleep now... Will probably make another entry tmr; well, tonight, really ;P
Another short entry tonight... Couldn't get much sleep. Slept for about 3hrs, woke up, went back to sleep for another half , then another hour. Got up at 10 something after lying in bed awake for some time. Went out for lunch at Bugis. Mom decided to buy clothes for CNY, and get her hair done. Was about 4 when we got home. Sis dragged me out for dinner with her friends. Went to Sakae Sushi at the Heeren, then later to the Starbucks opposite, and then to some karaoke place in the building next to the Starbucks. My first time going ^^ That area looks a bit seedy; lucky it there were about 7 of us, and one was a guy, so we were quite safe. Arrived home at around midnight. Too tired to post anything else, here or at Ratalie. Still got some Japanese hw, though. Shall try doing that for a while, then sleep...
Wheee! RPGing is fun ^__^ Also, it's forcing me to write again, albeit in fragments. Claire's signed up too, so hopefully we'll have a Punners reunion online soon? *hint hint ;P * heh, another female chara has been added. Also an elf :P Feel like drawing a group pic of the charas, once the descriptions are all done... *sheepish grin* But i really should work on the A/Meg and photo sites. Aah, so many things to do...
